Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

We need to look back and learn from the previous events though, put the experience to good use and hopefully some regular CT radio activity will develop. The format though... The Event Station concept worked well, but really it's for the big CT Events (Xmas, CT Birthday and the like) - getting all the event stations organised, put on the map and put on a list is too much work for a regular CT Net. How about? Have one Sunday in the month where CT'ers call on a particular channel and QSY (move) to another one to hold the conversation - it'd be more of a monthly "CT Active Sunday" rather than a specific CT Event. It'd be pretty relaxed with nets and individual QSO's developing around the UK, with CT'ers calling on the call channel, or flicking around the band and joining in with other stations. CT and non-CT stations would be welcome - we've picked up many new members through on-air interaction lately, which is great. One of the very few problems we had on Sunday 19th was it was too busy on Ch34 and the above would overcome that issue. Info could be relayed via the Shout Box to assist too. Times would be roughly 10:30am to 1:30pm, with members encouraged to join the Ch32 Sunday DX at 2pm or just to carry on with their QSO's. Sounds good mate but the problem we have in Belfast on most days of the week on uk/fm and on Sundays on every other channel is Christians playing services and music mate and the 2nd birthday was a total washout to myself and Darryl (Muddyduck) as 34 was a no go and no use as i tried and Darryl tried an event station on The cave Hill to no avail..! Why not maybe sometimes try eu for us where we do not have the above issue..

Hopefully the new format will help - this time we're going to try calling on one channel and moving off to another Hopefully in your case, you'll be able to move to a channel that's clear of Church services - if the calling channel your way has Church on it, we'll be able to let people know where you are, if you can let us know via the Shout Box. We'd like to keep it to the UK block if possible as there's a lot of people out there with straight 40 rigs and the Mids here is full of QRM even if there's the slightest of skip. We'll try our best to get you in on it somehow though

26 Charlie Tango 361 Posts: 426 Group: MemberAF Member #453 Joined: 24-Aug 2010 MANDATORY_Country ENGLAND MANDATORY_Location Rochford, Essex, UK MANDATORY_FirstName Paul	a monthly net sounds like a great idea for regular meetups. one thing i will say, as mentioned, when the designated ct net channel seems quiet, you can boom over other ct'ers who are trying to make cq calls inadvertantly and that does make for total confusion so i think, for those lucky enough to either use a phone or a pc whilst out and about, the shoutbox is a valuable tool to use. certainly helped me last sunday. also, as it will be broadcast on the forum that a certain day will bring out the ct'ers, a designated channel doesn't really need to apply. personally, if i know that on a certain day and at a certain time, there will be fellow ct'ers about on the air, i will always scan the airways, be it 27/81 or pr27gb (old skool!) so we could use ch.10 uk for calling/getting a net going and then qsy to any number of frequencies. ch.10 uk could be the new 19! think i wore out my channel knob last sunday flicking through the bands! NOTE TO SELF - really need to read through previous comments made on threads. gary, using ch10uk and then qsy'ing is a brilliant idea...ahem!!! Edited by planeternie, 25 Jun 2011 - 09:20.

I, for example, will announce my station is running and state a QSY channel - then I'll call QRZ on my chosen channel. If all is quiet, I'll go to the CT call channel, try again and so on. Even if some members hear nothing or have QRM on the CT calling channel on the day, a flick around the channels should find some CT'ers chatting away Updates via the Shout Box will also be a good source of info for those who can access the Internet during the net.

If the skip is running you'll have sidebanders all over the freq. Steve and I often chat there but if I'm too far away and the skip in running strong its impossible to chat down there. I think i might have messed up on the dates. I might be free on the 10th. We'll see!

I think i might have messed up on the dates. I might be free on the 10th. We'll see! Good point Chris and was the reason why we switched from Ch10 (used on May 30th) to Ch34 on June 19th. Ch10 is also a popular channel with a large haulage company around here which limits it's usefulness. We did say that Ch10 would be reviewed after a period of time and I think it would be wise to change to a higher channel - the problem being finding one that suits as many people as possible. I'll suggest changing the CT Net channel in another thread - it'll be a good way to get the new channel going with the July 10th event
