OK, According to the GMC, this game is "horrible". But I spent quite a bit of time on this game, and I think it's OK. (It runs at 120 frames per second, I'm guessing I should have done it in 60...) Oh well. If it runs at full speed for you, it will probably be fun for at least for a little while... Press D to display the frame rate at the bottom. There is joystick support for 2 players, and the keyboard controls are outlined in the game help, which can be accessed while playing the game. Also included is .txt file containing the full text of the help file. You'll notice that the game resets after every round. This was done to avoid what might have been a glitch in the GM environment. The problem was that the game wouldn't announce the winner if a second round was played without resetting. EDIT: I just looked at the code for it. The problem is I forgot to set timeline_position to 0. DOWNLOAD |

Yes, it does have one player with AI. In fact, it has three levels of AI. The AI can be set in the options. 1 is easy, 2 is normal, and 3 is hard. The game was originally going to be 4 player, but I couldn't figure out how to correctly compare 4 scores and do something if only two scores matched, i.e. 5, 5, 7, 3. It would only work if all the scores were unique, i.e. 6, 12, 4, 2, or if all the scores were equal, i.e. 3, 3, 3, 3. Three-way ties were another problem, 1, 4, 4, 4. I didn't want to code for a million different score checks, so I degraded it to 2 players max. Player 3 and 4 would have been yellow and green paddles, and the ball and ball trail would have been green/yellow. I am currently working on another PONG game titled "Super Mario PONG", and it will have powerups, weapons, special arena dangers, like piranha plants, pipes, Bowser, etc. Planned powerups include: Mushroom, to make player gigantic. Star, to temporarily make a player unbeatable. Fire Flower, to shoot fireballs and stun your opponent. Poison Mushroom, to shrink your paddle. Item Boxes, to make the items appear. PONG Reborn is more of a clone with special effects, while Super Mario Pong will be a truly new experience. PONG Reborn may be just a clone, but isn't it at least a good clone? |

A very good clone! I like it. I like your use of particals in the boncing and the trails, and the mouse is funny The menu graphics could use some work, though. They still look old.

I didn't spend very much time making the menu graphics. They're just basic sprites that get the job done. However, for Super Mario PONG, The menu graphics will fit in much better. I'll post some later, when I'm on my home computer... where the graphics are stored... with slow dial-up. I might actually make a WIP thread for the game when I'm further along... I don't have arena selection yet... or more than one arena, for that matter. Yeah, the mouse is hilarious. That darn "No sprite" sprite. |
