*The long journey has ended. Outside of a couple of areas where the road devolved into small quagmires after the spring thaws, the trip mostly took the promised week. The first sight of Hommlett comes through a break in the trees about half a mile out. Just as the road begins to slope downwards, the foliage thins enough that the westernmost section can be seen. A small tower can be viewed amongst an area of excavated dirt and men wielding picks and shovels. It would seem that the tower is the first step in a castle's construction! And as soon as it appears, the view is consumed by blocking vegetation.*

*It isn't long before the caravan winds its way to the village proper. The road branches off to the west as you reach the first farm. You note the house is made of wood and plaster and the barn shows signs of hay left from the previous harvest. The livestock look fat and happy. Two large dogs take note of the caravan and begin to bark from the front porch. A largish goodwife looks up from her sweeping and begins to wave in a friendly manner.*

*Down the west branch, a smaller farmhouse can be seen. It looks to be a bit rundown but still in good shape.*

*As the caravan rolls on, you pass a farm on the right, another on the left, and a house with a tanned skin out front before stopping at an inn at a crossroads. To the north is a new building, looking to be a hall of some sort. Immediately to the east is a smithy and a druid's grove.*

(OOC: Will give more detail of each location if desired.)

*Soon everyone is leaving horses and wagons to stretch legs and make for the inn.*

* I jump down off the wagon and retrieve my pack and bedroll. I look around at the others and smile then
pull my hood over my head. I examine the buildings close by giving the Inn a more detailed scrutiny. I look
for an Inn sign or some such measure of identification to determine the name of the place. I say to no one
in particular. *

" So this is Hommlet? How quaint. "

* I walk around the wagon and begin to head for the door, gear in tow. *

*As Jaden and Rolard begin towards the door, they are soon joined by Marco and his porters. Antoni reaches the door first, and holds it for his fellow travellers with a bow and a flourish. Though he seemed distant and moody throughout the trip, the Romany seems a bit chipper now that the trip is over. Kurgan enters with a curt nod and a grunt, while Deinol offers a similar bow which brings forth a laugh from Antoni. Brother Annawyn offers a "Bless you my brother" as he passes into the inn. Marco wiats for everyone else to enter before he does.*

*Meanwhile, the knights and the sage that had joined the caravan begin to move down the eastbound road, towards the direction of the tower. You note that Sir Joakim looks back for a moment before turning his gaze to where the procession is leading. The locals seem a bit awed with the knights; they stand and stare as though many hadn't seen such before. A few of the older folk seem to lose themselves in memory for a brief time before leading the others in kneeling before a nobleman and his retinue. Marco looks on as they ride off. he then turns to those yet to enter and waves them in.*

(Sorry - busy weekend) Rolard nods politely to Marco before heading to the bar to order a meal and a half pint of ale. Order placed and drink acquired, he joins the others with a look of anticipation.

(no worries.)

*As Rolard enters, he notes that there are a few tables still open. There is a round table with six chairs sitting close to the front door, as well as a window that would look to the stables. Three tables (each with four chairs) stretch in a line from bar to stairs to the upper story; the one by the stairs is occupied by a big, rough-looking barbarian and a Baklunish traveler dressed in silk pants and vestlike shirt. Another round table sits in the far corner, and a game of cards is being dealt by a man with a slicked down mustache and goatee; the other seats are occupied by a group of travelling merchants. Three campground style tables sit empty along the front wall. There are two doors, one on each side of the stairs up, presumably private dining rooms.*

*On the left when entering is the bar. Two great casks can be seen on the far wall beside it. There are two men curremtly sitting there. One man, of indeterminate origins, is talking to another dressed in immaculate travelling clothes. The portly, balding barkeep seems to be ignoring the conversation. He nods to each new arrival as they enter. Kurgan and Deinol head towards one of the campground tables (the one nearest the door), with Annawyn joining them. When the barkeep sees Rolard coming towards him, he leans over the bar (well, as much as he can) and speaks in a slightly accented voice.*

"Greetings, Meister halfling. I am Ostler Gundergoot. How may I help you?"

*He soon takes Rolard's order and relays it to the kitchens.*

After travelling for weeks he finally arrives on the tail of some smallish Human caravan in the town marked on his map. Anyone looking his way would see a broadshouldered, cloaked fellow nimbly drop from a tan and white riding pony. He takes his large hide-wrapped bundles and black bow, placing them on his shoulders then seems to whisper something to his mount..who gives him a peculiar look, then races playfully into the nearest peaceful wooded glade for some grass to eat.

Walking into the tavern, he opens the door and heads to the ostler. Holding out 10 silver leafs(worth about 5 silvers each) he says in broken common.."A room..good sir ,with food and drink for a week or more?"

Under his hood he slowly inspects the room, while not appearing to do so...taking in the sights, smells and ambiance of the travellers.

Description-Perhaps either a well muscled Half-elf or Human Archer wearing boots, gloves, cloak and leather armor of fine design. The hunter? carries large bundles on his back and a quiver on his hip filled with black feathered arrows. A backpack is placed at his feet ready to be carried to his room if he may find such, before the crowd gets them all. He seems a little out of place but waits for the Ostlers reply...opening his hand for a room key.

*Ostler does some figuring, then gets an apologetic look upon his face. He discreetly places the silver leaves on thebar, making certain that no other can reach for them. He speaks in a low, apologetic voice.*

"Sir. this would get one of our smaller private rooms for one night without meals or drinks. Now, it would cover a bed in our dormitory room for seven days, and meals. Beverages would be extra though. Now, we do offer tea and bread in the morning in that room, so we can see if we can come to an arrangement."

*He waits with his hand hovering a couple of inches above the currency.*

"Acceptable, sir. The dorm room and meals..tea and warmth of the fire..."

He inclines his head in a humble nod and makes a whisking motion toward the 'leaves' as though to signify the deal is done. although his face is fully shadowed by his hood, a beautiful..cherubic smile appears as he heads to the common room, placing his gear in a bed area. He busily makes certain all his bundles are tied tightly and wrapped, removes a wooden bowl, cup and spoon from his pack and goes to get some food( some meat, vegetables and fruit) and tea. The more observant might notice he carries himself with fluid grace not indicative to his muscular build.

Once the food is gathered, he finds a comfotable table or bench where he eats and watches those staying in the room with curiosity..the curiosity of an outsider...almost alien in fact.

"It will be the first door om your right, as you go up the stairs, good sir."

*Ostler politely but quickly moves the silver leaves from the bar and places them in a box there behind. Soon, Rolard is staring at a steak and kidney pie that has the subtle aroma of mushrooms to it, and a half pint of ale. It seems as huge as his grandmom's pies used to be. Meanwhile, the cloaked man is presented with some venison stew and a clay mug of freshly brewed tea. Both also have a small loaf of bread to accompany their meal.*

Eating his food quietly, the hunter notices very little is happening in the taver/inn. Not a good sign for a place rumored to be a good place to start an adventure or seek one's fortunes.

He finishes his meal and cleans his bowl, spoon and mug..rising from his place he makes his way to his 'place' and returns them. He gathers up his bundles and pack and proceeds out of the tavern. (Unless something happens immediately he heads to the grove)

*As he heads out the door, the Mystery Man (Danny's character) notes that the man of unknown origins seems to be watching the new arrivals while pretending to listen to his acquaitance's discussion. When the man's attention reaches Mystery's, the man suddenly looks back to the conversation.*

Having heard everything from the bards in Celene, The Hunter decides to visit the local Druid and ask about the Battle of Emridy, anything the community might need a Hunter for and of course the banditry.

Thinking to himself-"Quiet place..seems almost safe. Distressing there are rumors of evil..)

*as The Hunter approaches the druidic grove (bypassing a smithy along the way), he is soon met by a man in his mid fifties. The man walks out in an open flaxen robe and matching breeches held up by a fraying hemp string. His hair and beard are turning from oakish brown to steel grey, though his eyes seem intense. He is drawing a puff from a lidded pipe. He seems excited to see the Hunter.*

"All right! How may I help you my brother?"

*Soon, he explains to the Hunter as best he can, about the situation. The Battle of Emridy Field, he explains, was a brutal affair. Much blood was shed and destruction wrought. To this day, the land has not fully healed and word has it that some of the mortal remains there have been seen wandering the area, a blight upon nature. Few go there, mainly adventurers and scholars; fewer return. A crown prince had been lost there, though no one can truly say what became of him.

*Outside of the occasional wolf, there is not much need for a hunter of beasts. There is said to be a bounty on some bandits in the area. He explains that, so far, the bandits have struck away from Hommlett, but in the council meetings they have determined that the attacks have been within 10 leagues (about 30 miles) diameter of somewhere a few miles east of Hommlett. Some believe that the deserted moathouse is their base; others feel that none would be foolish enough to use it; even if the place wasn't of evil manufacture, surely its condition would not be safe.*

----------------------------------------------

*Meanwhile, at the Inn of the Welcome Wench, things seem fairly quiet. The porters (well Deinol and antoni) invite everyone else from the caravan to their table. Kurgan scoots to the edge of the table with his back to the wall; he seems to be keeping an eye on everyone. Soon, the orders are delivered to the table, and everyone is enjoying food they would expect in a larger city and in a fine restaurant. After a couple of minutes, one of the merchants stands from the far table, and laughingly speaks.*

"Oh no, my good Master Furnok. I best leave now, for I fear I'd lose more to your cards than bandits around these parts."

*The merchant then begins to head for the bar.*

The Hunter smiles at the information and replies.."I am certain there is more to these legends than bandits..and I assure you, I do not intend to hunt...'Wolves or animals'. There are more dangerous creatures if one is tenacious to search for them. Are there any trustworthy souls hereabouts that you know of that might join me in the hunt or at least for the bounty on the bandits? Do you think the township would give me the moathouse for a baseif I repaired it and cleansed the area of foul creatures? I tend to keep to myself and will try not to stir up any trouble for the town while I spy out the dangers."

"Also who else should I talk with? Anyone I should avoid or at least be leary of?
Where are the local stores, especially those that may have arrows?"

Rolard sits with the other caravaners, enjoying his meal as he exchanges small talk with those he's gotten to know in recent weeks. He also keeps his ears open for information about the town they now find themselves in, and anything that might signal the possibility of adventure.

*As he asks his questions, The Hunter hears a commotion from without the grove. It sounds like a small crowd passing by, concern buzzing from their voices.*

"You should seek out Burne and Rufus at the tower. They would know more of matters such as you discussed. And beware of the traders. They have the taint of...unnaturalness..to them. Alas, they would be your only choice for ammunition though."

----------------------------------------------

*The meal goes peaceful enough. marco joins you, and soon a roast pheasant sits before him; poasted potatoes and other vegetables flank the fowl. As the feast goes on, those at the table can't help the feeling of being watched. Before any can question this sensation, Rolard notes a figure in leather armor slumped on a horse outside. He has just arrived into view; a red fletched crossbow bolt protrudes from his back. He sits there for a moment before collapsing to the ground. The suddenness of his dismount startles the horse for a moment, causing it to scramble away towards the stables before stopping. A small crowd, who apparently were following the wounded equestrain, surge forward to encircle the fallen man.*

The Hunter listens intently and hearing a commotion, looks to the Druid with a look of.."I'm going to check this out, could be important!"..the bolts toward the noise like an escaping elk.

Hark...I detect an adventure hook!
