Lich King Posts: 3,763 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: July 8, 2004	* Since you left home you have been traveling for many weeks, you passed thru the Valley of Iskar heading south east and besides the hair standing up on the back of your neck from time to time you make it through into the foothills of Attu. * * The stories that you have heard of the valley never seemed to be pleasant and most spoke of feeling as is you were being watched by someone or something. The rumor was that nothing ever grew in the valley, that the land was “undead” and that nothing could survive. Now from the days and nights you spent there you can see why the stories that were told sounded that way, nothing much did grow there and what did seemed to be twisted or distorted in someway. At night you were almost sure that things were moving around just below the surface but when ever you tried to investigate further there was nothing to be found. * * By the second night into the hills you are able to get some solid rest knowing Iskar is behind you and you notice that off in the distance is a single campfire in the direction you are headed. Upon waking you eat the remains of last nights food that was wrapped up for safe keeping make sure the fire is out and head on your way. After awhile you remember the fire you seen but no longer see any signs of it. * * You follow no real trail as you continue but stay on your current course passing by the randomly scattered foliage when from behind the greenery about 60 steps in front of you a man jumps out that's a head shy of 6 ft. with strong orcish features. He already has an arrow knocked in a very nice looking long bow and a rapier hanging from the side of his studded leather armor. He starts talking loud enough for you to hear him well and it sounds very crude. * “ Hey you! You no move! You no try any funny stuff and maybe Sorte let you live. ” * As he continues as two more orcish looking men one on either side of you about 30 steps away with weapons drawn slowly move toward you looking ready for anything you might try. Ones wielding a hand axe and a spiked gauntlet the other a longsword with both wearing simple leather armor. You can almost see the greed in their eyes. * “ You give us all you things and we lets you keep you clothes and your life. ” * He screams at you. * “ TAKE IT OFF ALL OFF!! OR I KILL YOU WHERE YOU STAND!! ” ( OOC: If you attack then roll a d20 for Initiative to see which of us reacts first. )

Rolls: 26 - Sorte ( Longbow ) 25 - Bolog (Longsword) 11 - Morgun (Handaxe) Their AC: (Armor Class) all happens to be 16 * As you make the challenge Sorte lets loose his arrow. * Sorte's Att: 7 Miss You hear it slice the air as it passes by your head. Then he prepares to knock another. Bolog's Att: 8 Miss * As Bolog steps to you he takes a mighty swing at you but you manage to avoid his blade. * ( OOC: Your move. roll a 1d20 look for your att bonus for the weapon your fighing with and add that to your roll. If you get 16 or higher you score a hit. Please describe your actions in detail if you hit or miss. If you hit then check that weapon it will tell you what dice to roll and what to add. When you post include the results of your rolls either in red or like this OOC. Also please try to leave the numbers out of your actual character post and try to stay in character - save questions unless related to whats happening at the time for he Question & Answers post. ) * As you prepare to attack Morgun approches you from your left preparing to swing his handaxe. *

We continue in the same order until one side is the victor. ) Sorte Att: 22 Dam: 5 * Sorte lets another arrow fly and this time it hits its mark! You feel the impact of the arrow as it strikes and a fast sharp pain but it subsides quickly as you continue to fight. * " You should have listened to Sorte! HAHA! Now you gonna die! HAHAHA! " * Begins loading another arrow. * Bolog Att: 8 * Side stepping your last attack Bolog's tries to connect with his long blade but cuts only air with his attempt. * " Hay! Watch it those things! I know wanna gets stuck with one! " Morgun Att: 2 * Yells to Bolog. * " Lemme have a swing at him too! " * Standing taller than you he approaches awkwardly looking unsure about how to hit you then with his handaxe that looks like a childs toy he takes a mighty swing at you and misses. The force of his swing makes him lose his balance and he falls face first into the soft ground arms outstretched still clutching the axe. He lets out a howl as he hits the dirt. * " OOOOOWWWW!!!! MY TOE! MY TOE! OOOWWW I THINK I BROKED IT! " * He lays there clutching his left foot. Even Bolog stands motionless watching what took place. * ( OOC: Only Bolog and Morgun's AC drop to 14 for this round. Now its your turn to attack. )

It will have to be your action for your next round being you made your attack this round. Try to remember you have 39 total HPs and have only lost 5 so far. A hint would be to take out who you think is the leader among them and hope it might make the others think harder about messing with you. ) * Sorte starts laughing so hard when he goes to shoot, the arrow comes off the string and the string slaps him in the wrist. Dropping his arrow* " OW! dang it! Morgun get off da ground and get in there and fight! Bolog what are you waiting for?!? Hit um! " * Bolog starts laughing at Sorte. Missing his chance to attack and only now is Morgun attempting to get up from the ground. * ( OOC: Your move. Bolog and Morgun's AC drop to 12 this rd. )

Leaving the arrow he steps back and draws his rapier and swings! * Sorte Att: 13 * The swing falls short of its mark passing quickly in front of you. * ----------------------------------------------------------------- * Regaining his senses, Bolog re-enters the fight as you rush by. He quickly rushes upon you and swings. * Bolog Att: 13 * The blade makes contact with your elven chain and glances off. Other than feeling of it hitting you the blade does not reach flesh. * ----------------------------------------------------------------- Morgun Att: None * He manages to get to his feet but is slow to reach you and is badly limping. * ( OOC: There are no "called shots" in this game - at least not at this time. Please try to be more discriptive even in combat but generalize your hits - Its different if I discribe a hit to a certain area on you or the enemy its to add color or flare to the game and I have that kind of control. You as a character can only control your character not the events that happen around you. I have overlooked it so no need to change your post but try to generalize that part of the attack. When discribing your own actions be creative, most anything is acceptable (within reason) and if you choose to do something I think your character would have a hard time doing or couldnt do then I would have you make a skill check of some sort to see if you succeed or fail. )

The other two slowly back off and give you some room. * Bolog speaks up : " Listen mister, just let him go. We give you whatever you want just no kill him. " * Bolog sets his sword down slowly and Morgun still with his weight on one leg drops his. * " Come on, let him go and we leave you now. " They seem to be honestly concerned about Sorte's wellfare.

Lich King Posts: 3,763 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: July 8, 2004	* As you run the edge of your blade acrossed Sorte's neck his dark blood spews forth, he struggles slightly then goes limp in your arm and starts to slump to the ground. * * Both Morgun and Bolog's eyes go wide with fear. Morgun almost falls over backwards as he turns and runs forgetting about his toe until that first step. He continues to limp away as fast as he can but Bolog's eyes turn from terror to rage in an instant. * " Y YOU KILL MY BROTHER! I TOLD YOU NO KILL SORTE!!! NOW BOLOG KILL YOU!! " * He raises his sword and comes at you like he's posessed by a demon. * Morale check: Morgun= 2 ; Bolog= 17 Bolog's Init: 9 ( OOC: ok, sorry it took me so long to post this kill but it took me a few to track down a ruling for their reaction to what took place. In older rules it was called a morale check but in the new 3e rules I could not find anything on morale. I ended up going back to 2e to decide how I would handle it. ) ( Roll a new Initiative roll: 1d20 + 6 [your INIT Bonus] if it's higher than bolog's init roll above then make your attack and dam if you hit.)
