Alexander A giant mechanical tank, looking similar to a castle, with four cylinders that act as support structures. It dishes out Holy damage. In FF9, Alexander was the guardian eidolon for Alexandria Castle (it actually WAS part of the castle); however, it was not summonable in battle. FF6 (SUMMON) -Alexander ATK: Judgement FF7 (SUMMON) -Alexander ATK: Judgement FF8 (SUMMON) -Alexander ATK: Holy Judgement FF9 (NON-SUMMONABLE CHARACTER) -Alexander FF11 -Alexander The first picture is of the Al'Zadaal Undersea Ruins, which are actually the broken up pieces of the previous incarnation of Alexander, whereas Alexander itelf is a boss which appears towards the end of the mission related to the ruins. ________________________________________ Atomos This has been both a strong monster boss and a strong summoned monster. Its physical characteristics consist of little else but a large gaping mouth or portal which sucks the enemy in and does gravity-based damage (based on the enemy's HP). FF1 (Dawn of Souls) (ENEMY) -Atomos ATK: Worm Hole FF5 -Atomos (ENEMY) ATK: Worm Hole FF9 (SUMMON) -Atomos ATK: G-Force 199 FF12 (ENEMY) -Atomos (mark) Although it doesn't look anything like the previous versions, there is a mark called Atomos. CP: Being a mutant Slaven, its body encrusted with all Manner of precious Crystals. With the passing of Months and Years, the Impurities in these Crystals are gradually absorbed by the Creature, purpling their natural Ochre Hue to beautiful Effect. These Crystals are traded for a high Price, making their Bearers the Target of much Over-hunting by Soldiers tasked with acquiring Funds for Archadia's War Effort. So have these Slaven learned to fear and attack Men, and for this Reason was a Bill for this Mark posted. FF12RW -Atomos ATK: Uppercut, Drain Unlimited (SUMMON) -Atomos • SOIL: Storm Blue + Acid Gray + Silent Black ________________________________________ The black-scaled King of Dragons is nearly always one of the most powerful summons. His primary attack, "Mega Flare", does non-elemental damage. Generally, he is one of the most difficult monsters to beat in order to get him to join you. In FF1, he appeared as a non-summonable character, who upgraded your class if you gave him the Rat's Tail item. In FF4, he was the God of Summons. He's such a popular character that he merited his own strategy/RPG game for SNES - Bahamut Lagoon. FF1 (NON-SUMMONABLE CHARACTER) -Bahamut Bahamut rules the dragons in the Dragon's Cave, and will upgrade your class if you gave him the Rat's Tail item. FF3 -Bahamut ATK: Megaflare FF3 DS -Bahamut ATK: Megaflare FF4 -Bahamut ATK: Mega Flare Bahamut is the God of Summons, and resides in the Cave of Bahamut on the Moon. FF5 -Bahamut ATK: Mega Flare FF6 -Bahamut ATK: Sun Flare FF7 -Bahamut ATK: Mega Flare -Neo Bahamut ATK: Giga Flare -Bahamut ZERO ATK: Tera Flare FF7AC -Bahamut SIN ATK: Mega Flare Summoned by Kadaj. FF7CC -Bahamut (ATK: Mega Flare) -Bahamut Fury (ATK: Exaflare) FF8 -Bahamut ATK: Mega Flare FF9 -Bahamut ATK: Mega Flare FF10/X-2 -Bahamut ATK: Impulse (Special Attack), Mega Flare (Overdrive) FF11 (NON-SUMMONABLE) -Bahamut Tactics -Bahamut ATK: Not named FF12RW -Bahamut ATK: Mega Flare Unlimited -Bahamu (not named) SOIL: Marvelous Orange + Maniac Purple + Ultra Shocking Pink (V2) Tear Rainbow + Endless White + Soul Steel Gray Although never named outright, it is evident that Bahamut is the identity of Kaze's ultimate summon. ________________________________________ This cute critter has green or turquoise fur and a ruby embedded in its forehead. It commonly casts Reflect on the whole party. In FF5 it looks quite a bit nastier when you fight him, but then it calms down again. In FF9, various equipped gems can cause Carbuncle's effect to change to Protect, Shell, or Vanish. FF5 -Carbuncl ATK: Ruby Light FF6 -Carbunkle ATK: Ruby Power FF8 -Carbuncle ATK: Ruby Light FF9 -Carbuncle ATK: Ruby Light, Diamond Light, Emerald Light, Pearl Light FF11 -Carbuncle ATK: Healing Ruby, Poison Nail, Shingin Ruby, Glittering Ruby, Meteorite, Healing Ruby II, Shearing Light (Astral Flow) 12RW -Carbuncle ATK: Ruby Balm (heals all characters) Tactics -Carbuncle ATK: Not named Tactics Advance -Carbuncle ATK: Not named Crystal Chronicles (NON-SUMMONABLE CHARACTER) -Carbuncle ________________________________________ Catoblepas / Shoat A large animal resembling a canine/bovine cross with red eyes. Its attack, "Demon's Eye", petrifies enemies. Its form is the most inconsistent between games, but its unusual name makes it a FF mainstay. FF1 (Dawn of Souls) -Catoblepas FF2 (Dawn of Souls) -Catoblepas FF3 -Catoblepas FF3 DS -Catoblepas FF4 GBA -Catoblepas FF5 (SUMMON) -Shoat (NA) / Catoblepas (JP) ATK: Demon's Eye FF6 (SUMMON) -Shoat (NA) / Catoblepas (JP) ATK: Demon's Eye FF8 -Catoblepas FF9 -Catoblepas FF10 -Catablepas FF11 -Catoblepas (Dhalmel) FF12 -Catoblepas CP: A Tyrant among Behemoths, possessed of evil, red Eyes. Such who face it are consumed with fear upon meeting its Glare, their bodies becoming as Stone with their Terror. A Garif who fought the Catoblepas long ago and lived to tell of his Failure posted a Bill for this Mark. Cerberus Cerberus is a three-headed demonic dog with red eyes. In FF9 and MQ, its body becomes more dog-like, but its face becomes that much more grotesque. As a summoned creature in FF8, it casts Double and Triple on the party. FF1 -Cerberus -Cerebus FF3 -Cerberus -Garm FF8 (SUMMON) -Cerberus ATK: Counter Rockets FF7CC -Cerberus Cerberus is actually just a palette swap of the generic dog enemies. FF9 -Cerberus FF11 -Cerberus FF12 -Cerberus Mystic Quest -Cerberus -Werewolf Crystal Chronicles -Cerberus ________________________________________ Phantom Train / Doomtrain The two trains of FF6 and FF8 are likely unrelated to each other, but it can't hurt to speculate. FF6's Phantom Train carried the dead to the "other side", and caught Cyan and Sabin on the way. It also appears as an optional boss in FF1: Dawn of Souls. In FF8, on the other hand, Doomtrain is a summon which rams into the enemy for Poison damage and causes a variety of status ailments, including the always useful Vit 0. FF1 -Demon Train (Dawn of Souls) FF6 -Ghost Train (NA) / Phantom Train FF8 (SUMMON) -Doomtrain (NA) / Grasharaboras (JP) ATK: Runaway Train ________________________________________ Fenrir Fenrir is primarily a summon, even though other wolf creatures retain that name in other incarnations. Its attacks vary greatly from game to game. In FF6, Moon Song creates Images of the party. In FF9, it calls forth what looks like a giant owl statue to cause earth-based damage to the enemy, and the Maiden Prayer accessory can cause Fenrir's attack to change and do wind-based damage instead. FF2 -Fenrir (NA) / Wolf Devil (JP) FF6 (SUMMON) -Fenrir ATK: Moon Song FF9 (SUMMON) -Fenrir ATK: Terrestrial Rage, Millennial Decay FF10 -Fenrir FF11 (SUMMON) -Fenrir ATK: Moonlit Charge, Crescent Fang, Lunar Cry, Lunar Roar, Ecliptic Growl, Ecliptic Howl, Eclipse Bite, Howling Moon (Astral Flow) FF12 -Fenrir (ENEMY) Not really resembling the wolf Fenrir in the least; it's more meant to be Byak-ko, the White Tiger, of the four Chinese God-Beasts. CP: Being a Giant in the Form of a great white Cat, revered as a Guardian Spirit high in the snowy Crags of the Mountains far to the West. Its sharp silvery Stare robs those who face it of their Will to Fight, and its vicious Claws rip through Flesh with Ease. It is called the White Tiger for its striped body, and worshipped as an Anima of the Sun. ________________________________________ Gilgamesh Gilgamesh looks like an Arabian or Greek warrior wearing a red hood and cloak, often with multiple arms. FF1 -Gilgamesh (Dawn of Souls) Gilgamesh appears as a boss in one of the secret dungeons in the game. FF5 (CHARACTER & ENEMY) -Gilgamesh This is where Gilgamesh first appears. One of the coolest villains around, Gilgamesh is the only sidekick to have his own sidekick! Enkidu the flying menace helps him out from time to time. He also has his own theme music. 8-) He's mostly there for comic relief, but you can steal Genji equipment from him. At one point he tries using a sword he THINKS is Excalibur against you; it's really called Excalipur and does single-digit damage. 8-) He's dressed in a wild-colored red robe thingy; he later morphs into a many-armed Kali-like menace. He's got a good heart, though - after Exdeath exiles him to the Rift, he begins to like Bartz and company. FF8 (SUMMON) -Gilgamesh ATK: Zantetsuken, Masamune, Excalibur, Excalipoor Gilgamesh here looks like a hybrid of his two forms from FF5. He has four arms with four different swords for four different attacks - Zantetsuken works the same as Odin's attack, Excalibur does medium damage to enemies, Masamune does high damage to enemies, and Excalipoor does 1 HP of damage. Unlike other GF's, Gilgamesh's appearances can't be controlled; he appears randomly at the beginning of battles (including boss fights!) and uses one of the four attacks. He replaces Odin at the end of Disc 3 after Seifer slices him in half. FF9 (CHARACTER) -Alleyway Jack/Gilgamesh Here, Gilgamesh goes under the pseudonym of Alleyway Jack for most of the game, and only reveals his real name if you talk to him in Daguerreo with a Treasure Hunter rank of S. He plays a minor role in a few Active Time Events. FF11 (CHARACTER) -Gilgamesh The character of Gilgamesh in FF11, a pirate king, appears to have no ties to its previous incarnations. FF12 (ENEMY) -Gilgamesh Gilgamesh returns as a "Man of Mystery" in a special hunt offered by Montblanc. The Hunt is titled "Battle on the Big Bridge" (the same as the title of his theme track in FF5) and in fact does take place on a bridge in the Lhusu Mines, and he again has his sidekick Enkidu (with a vastly different appearance). He even has his theme music back! After beating him once, he runs away, leaving a replica of the Wyrmhero Blade behind, which he quickly yanks back when your party leader's back is turned. He shows up once more during a fishing sidequest, where he gives you a fishing rod called the "Matamune". He has an obsession with weapons, and is apparently searching for one more ultimate weapon - most probably the Masamune, the best katana, which you actually get as a reward from Montblanc for beating him. As a series first, Gilgamesh has a voice: John DiMaggio, better known as Wakka and Kimahri from FFX, and Migelo from FF12. CP: An ancient Man of Mystery, traveling the Dimensions with his lone Companion, Enkidu, in search of a legendary Sword. It is said he confronts all Adventurers he meets and challenges them for their Weapons. Each of his six Arms bears a Weapon of great Fame, yet there is no Evidence that any are the genuine Article. Petitioned as a Mark by a Swordsman bereft of his beloved Blade. FF12RW -Gilgamesh Gilgamesh ends up lost in the Gates of Shattered Time, where he meets Vaan and challenges him to a duel, backed up by a neverending stream of Enkidus. When you beat him, you get to use him as an Esper. He comes equipped with a triple slash and the Masamune. ________________________________________ Golem's primary status in the FF series is as a summon, where he appears as a stumpy rock-man who protects the party from physical attacks. There are also various golems who appear as monsters made of stone, steel, mud, etc. FF1 -Mithril Golem (Dawn of Souls) -Iron Golem -Mud Golem (NA) / Clay Golem (JP) -Rock Golem (NA) / Stone Golem (JP) FF2 -Mythril Golem -Stone Golem -Wood Golem FF4 -Iron Man (NA) / Mithril Golem (JP) -Stale Man (NA) / -Steel Golem (JP) -Stone Man (NA) / Stone Golem (JP) FF5 (ENEMY & SUMMON) -Golem ATK: Earth Wall -???? -Adamant Golem -Iron -Lumber Beast (NA) / Undead Rusk (JP) -Stone Golem FF6 (SUMMON) -Golem ATK: Earth Wall FF7 -Golem -Armored Golem (NA) / Full Armor Golem (JP) -Ice Golem FF9 -Sand Golem FF11 -Golem (many varieties) FF12 -Golem -Treant -Clay Golem -Mythril Golem -Babil -Tower (rare) -Juggernaut (rare) -Goliath (mark) -Roblon (mark) CP: Being a great, soulless, vegetative creature that supports its mass and moves about by means of extraordinarily long arms. Said to be the manifestation of tree spirits, from trees burned down on battlefields, golems are peaceful by nature, though they suffer no intrusion upon their territory. They are as strong as their life-trees were old, so old that some are already in advanced stages of petrifaction even as they stand. FF12RW -Golem ATK: Wild Charge (Immobilize + Earth Damage) Mystic Quest -Stone Golem -Ice Golem Tactics (SUMMON) -Golem ATK: ??? Crystal Chronicles -Golem ________________________________________ Ifrit This fire demon often appears early in the game and acts as Shiva's foil. His attack is usually called "Hellfire", but was translated to "Inferno" for FF6 (NA) (man, those Nintendo guys are really heavy on the censorship!). His early name translation was inconsistent - in FF3, an early boss was called "Jinn", and he was a palette swap of the Ifrit summon spell; whereas in FF4 (SNES), Ifrit was actually called "Jinn". The creators of MQ made the confusion worse by including a fire monster named "Jinn" who had a palette-swap twin named "Iflyte". In FF12RW, there was yet another low-level Esper named "Djinn" along with Ifrit. FF3 -Ifrit ATK: Flames of Fury, Recover, Hellfire FF4 -Ifrit ATK: not named FF5 -Jinn (NA) / Ifrit (JP) ATK: Hellfire FF6 -Ifrit (NA) / Efreet (JP) ATK: Inferno FF7 -Ifrit ATK: Hellfire <> FF7CC -Ifrit -Experiment No. 113 -Mako Ifrit ATK: Hellfire FF8 -Ifrit ATK: Hell Fire FF9 -Ifrit ATK: Flames of Hell FF10 -Ifrit ATK: Meteor Strike (Special Attack), Inferno (Overdrive) FF11 -Ifrit ATK: Punch, Fire II, Burning Strike, Double Punch, Roar, Fire IV, Flame Crash, Inferno (Astral Flow) FF12 -Ifrit ATK: Hellfire Tactics -Ifrit ATK: Not named Tactics Advance -Ifrit ATK: Not named Mystic Quest (ENEMY) -Iflyte (NA) / Cyclops (JP) Unlimited -Ifrit SOIL: Cardinal Red + Dark Crimson + Burnt Sienna ________________________________________ Leviathan This is a long, thin snake-like dragon who controls the power of water. It looks similar to a Japanese dragon, which is usually assosciated with water rather than fire. In FF4 and FF5, this monster (not Bahamut) was the King of Phantom Beasts/Summons. In FF7, it was the personal god of Wutai and its scales could calm the fires in Da-Chao Statue. FF3 -Leviathan ATK: Stony Glare, Tempest, Tsunami FF4 -Leviathan ATK: not named FF5 -Leviathan ATK: Big Wave FF7 -Leviathan ATK: Tidal Wave FF8 -Leviathan ATK: Tsunami FF9 -Leviathan ATK: Tsunami FF11 -Leviathan ATK: Barracuda Drive, Water II, Tail Whip, Slowga, Spring Water, Water IV, Spinning Drive, Tsunami (Astral Flow) FF12 - Transportation CP: The Leviathan: No. 1 Dreadnought Class Airship. Being the flagship of the 8th Fleet of the Archadian Imperial Army. The 8th Fleet was assigned to the Galtea Tactical Force of the Western Armada, under the command of Judge Ghis. Fitted with a skystone made to resist the effects of jagd, the Leviathan was a linchpin of the Imperial army's main force. Sunk in an explosion caused by the uncontainable reaction of the nethicite fragment known as the Dawn Shard. 12RW -Leviathan ATK: Tidal Wave NOTE: Leviathan, the ship from FF12, also appears in this game. Tactics -Leviathan ATK: ??? Unlimited -Kigenjuu Madeen/Maduin Maduin and Madeen don't bear much resemblance across incarnations. In FF6, he is Terra's father as a character and looks like a strange knight; as a summon, he gives non-elemental damage on all enemies. In FF9, he masquerades as Eiko's moogle companion and dishes out Holy damage as her most powerful summon. He also shows up in FFTA. See also FF6 Characters. FF6 -Maduin ATK: Chaos Wing FF9 -Madeen ATK: Terra Homing Tactics Advance -Madeen ATK: Not named ________________________________________ Odin An ancient king who wears an antlered helmet and rides a horse. After FF4, his steed changes to a six-legged horse named Sleipnir, who also appeared in FF3 as a regular enemy. He has two weapons which are related to his attacks. His main attack is a sword which slices the enemy in half, often known as the "Zantetsuken" or "Steel-Bladed Sword", for an instant kill. If the enemy can't be killed in one hit, such as a boss, he uses his Gungnir Lance for damage (the lance only appeared in FF5 and FF7). In FF6, Odin was upgradable to Raiden, whose "True Edge" attack had a higher success rate than Odin's "Atom Edge". In FF4, Odin was the king of Baron, killed by Cagnazzo, whose spirit still lived in one of the castle's towers. In FF8, Odin wasn't controllable, but appeared randomly at the beginning of battles for an easy victory. In FF9, the "Odin's Sword" accessory allowed him to deal damage if he couldn't kill an enemy, but without using the Gungnir. FF3 -Odin (w/ Sleipnir) ATK: Sword Cut, Barrier, Atom Edge FF3 DS -Odin ATK: Sword Cut, Barrier, Atom Edge FF4 -Odin ATK: not named FF5 -Odin ATK: Zantetsuken, Gungnir FF6 -Odin / Raiden ATK: Atom Edge, True Edge (as Raiden) FF7 -Odin ATK: Steel Bladed Sword, Gunge Lance FF7CC -Odin ATK: Zantetsuken FF8 -Odin ATK: Zantetsuken FF9 -Odin ATK: Zantetsuken FF11 -Odin (ENEMY) ATK:Zantetsuken He has many other skills as well as Zantetsuken. You can apparently avoid his trademark attack by using the /kneel emote. X FF12: The Odin is mentioned as part of the Imperial 1st Fleet in a dialogue by Al-Cid. FF12RW: -Odin ATK: Zantetsuken Tactics -Odin ATK: ??? Unlimited -Odin SOIL: Brit Silver + Destroy Black + Steel Gray ________________________________________ Phoenix A bird composed of fire who revives all dead/knocked-out allies and sometimes gives a fire attack as well. In FF5, the Phoenix was Lenna's Dragon who killed itself, then rose to become Phoenix. Usually it can be summoned at will, but in FF8, Phoenix could only be called using Phoenix Pinions. Once this item was used, Phoenix appeared randomly if all playable characters were knocked-out in battle. FF5 -Phoenix ATK: not named FF6 -Phoenix ATK: Rebirth FF7 -Phoenix ATK: Phoenix Flame FF7CC -Phoenix ATK: Rebirth Flame FF8 -Phoenix ATK: Rebirth Flame FF9 -Phoenix ATK: Rebirth Flame X FF11 -Phoenix (NON-SUMMON) Phoenix does indeed play a role in FFXI; however, she has been slain and her spirit is bound into a Katana weilded by a Samurai NPC. She later fuses with the NPC Kuluu Selh'teus, however, and he fights alongside you in the final boss fight in Chains of Promathia. FF12 -Phoenix (boss) It's not a summon, but a boss. However, since it's part of four bosses representing the four Chinese God-Beasts (Gen-Bu, Seiryu, Byak-ko and Suzaku) it's probably more meant to be Suzaku than the more Western Phoenix. CP: Being a legendary Avion said to have been tasked with the Protection of the southern Lands by the Gods themselves. Its Body is covered in Feathers of rich Amber, and its Head is adorned with elegant Horns. Called the Firebird for the way it flames when climbing into the Sky, and revered as an Anima of the Sun. Tactics Advance -Phoenix ATK: Not named Unlimited -Phoenix / Giga-Phoenix SOIL: Mother Black + Fire Red + Burning Gold ________________________________________ Ramuh An old, wizened man who wields a staff and has power over thunder at about the same standing as Shiva and Ifrit. His attack is usually called Judgment Bolt. In FF6 and FF9, he was given a much larger character role as a speaker for the summons. See also FF9 Characters. FF3 -Ramuh ATK: God's Thunder, Mindblast, Heaven's Rage FF4 -Indra (NA) / Ramuh (JP) ATK: not named FF5 -Ramuh ATK: Bolt of Judgment FF6 -Ramuh ATK: Bolt Fist FF7 -Ramuh ATK: Judgement Bolt FF9 -Ramuh ATK: Judgement Bolt FF11 -Ramuh ATK: Shock Strike, Thunder II, Thunder Spark, Thunder Drum, Thunder Armor, Thunder IV, Chaos Strike, Judgement Bolt (Astral Flow) FF12RW: -Ramuh ATK: Judgment Bolt In this game, Ramuh has groupies; the Rank I Thunder Espers are called Ramih and are described as an "Automaton crafted by Ramuh, Archon of Storms". Tactics -Ramuh ATK: Not named Tactics Advance -Ramuh ATK: Not named ________________________________________ Shiva The ice-based summoned creature takes the form of a beautiful frost-woman, adorned with jewels and costuming. Her attack, Diamond Dust, freezes the entire battle arena and shatters, causing ice-damage to the enemy. FF3 -Shiva ATK: Hypno Beam, Icy Glare, Diamond Dust FF4 -Shiva ATK: not named FF5 -Shiva ATK: Diamond Dust FF6 -Shiva FF7 -Shiva ATK: Diamond Dust FF8 -Shiva ATK: Diamond Dust FF9 -Shiva ATK: Diamond Dust FF10 -Shiva ATK: Heavenly Strike (Special Attack), Diamond Dust (overdrive) FF11 -Shiva ATK: Axe Kick, Blizzard II, Freeze Armor, Sleepga, Double Slap, Blizzard IV, Rush, Diamond Dust (Astral Flow) FF12 - Transportation CP: The Shiva: No. 1 Light Cruiser Class Airship belonging to the 8th Fleet of the Archadian Imperial Army. Ordered to return to Rabanastre after the nethicite fragment known as the "Dawn Shard" was recovered, but sank in an explosion thought to have been caused by the relic before she could make port. 12RW -Shiva ATK: Diamond Dust Shiva has helpers in this game; the Rank I and II Espers are children called Shivan ("Heir apparent to Shiva's chilling might") and males called Shivar ("Shiva's cold-hearted paramour"). Tactics -Shiva ATK: ??? Tactics Advance -Shiva ATK: Not named Unlimited -Shiva SOIL: Dark Green + Virgin White + Ice Blue ________________________________________ Siren Siren is a beautiful blond woman, who plays a harp and causes silence. In FF8, she sits on a rock in the water and also does damage with her spell. FF5 (ENEMY) -Siren FF6 -Siren ATK: Hope Song FF8 -Siren ATK: Silent Voice FF12RW -Siren ATK: Kickline Dance (Stop + water damage) ________________________________________ Sylph The Sylph summon consists of several pixies that steal HP from the enemy and give it to the characters. In FF4, it only gave HP to the caster; in FF5, the entire party. In Tactics, Fairy did not steal HP, but did heal the entire party. In FF12RW, Sylph is non-elemental (despite having an attack called Aero). FF4 -Sylph ATK: not named FF5 -Sylph ATK: Whispering Wind / Whisperwind (GBA) Tactics -Faerie ATK: ??? Tactics (PSX) -Fairy ATK: ??? FF12RW -Sylph ATK: Aero ________________________________________ Titan The Titan has had multiple roles, but the majority of those is as a summon. He looks like a giant man with white eyes and a loincloth. He shakes the ground or lifts it above the enemies' heads to crush them. As with most earth attacks, it does not affect flying enemies. He's usually stronger than Ifrit, Ramuh, or Shiva. There was a Titan in FF1 (renamed Giant in Dawn of Souls) who ate rubies. (See also FF1 Characters) FF3 -Titan ATK: Kick, Punch, Earthquake FF4 -Titan ATK: Gaia's Wrath (FF4A) FF5 -Titan ATK: Rage of the Earth FF7 ATK: Anger of the Land FF11 -Titan ATK: Rock Throw, Stone II, Rock Buster, Megalith Blow, Earthen Ward, Stone IV, Mountain Crush, Rage of the Earth (Astral Flow) FF12RW:-Titan ATK: Gaia's Wrath Tactics -Titan Unlimited -Titan SOIL: Gaia Brown + Deep Vermillion + Ever Green ________________________________________ Typhon / Chupon This character is a jagged, pink apparition who turns the world upside down to attack the enemy for wind-based damage. Heals HP in FFTA. FF1 DoS -Unicorn (MONSTER) FF6 -Unicorn ATK: Heal Horn Tactics Advance -Unicorn ATK: Not named ________________________________________ Yojimbo A very strange fellow dressed in ornate traditional Japanese clothes, and accompanied by a little red doggie. He only attacks when paid. The strength and type of attacks depend on a number of compatibility factors, the most significant of which is how much gil he is given. FF5 -Yojimbo (NA) / Bodyguard (JP) FF6 -Katana Soul (NA) / Samurai Soul (JP) -Retainer (NA) / Bodyguard (JP) -Samurai FF10 (SUMMON) -Yojimbo ATK: Daigoro, Kozuka, Wakizashi, Zanmato ________________________________________ Adremmelech The Bangaa Totema. He also shows up as a character in Tactics. See the FFTA section for more information. In FF12, Adremmelech the Wroth represents Capricorn, and is the Esper of thunder. Tactics (CHARACTER) -Adrammelech Tactics Advance (TOTEMA) -Adrammalech ATK: Not named FF12 -Adremmelech ATK: Curaga, Thundara, Bio, Flash Arc, Judgement Bolt ________________________________________ Angelo Although not technically a GF, he does have a GF card. FF8 -Angelo (LIMIT BREAK) ATK: Angelo Rush, Angelo Cannon, Angelo Strike, Angelo Recover, Invincible Moon, Angelo Reverse, Angelo Search, Wishing Star ________________________________________ Anima This fish-like beast is the second most powerful Aeon in FF10, and is Seymour's mother's fayth. It can cause instant death with normal attacks. Though it is mostly used against you throughout the game, it can become yours through a side-quest. FF10 (SUMMON) -Anima ATK: Pain (special attack), Oblivion (Overdrive) ________________________________________ Ark This is the most powerful summon of FF9. The long introduction sequence (straight out of Transformers) involves it coming in as a huge dragon-headed airship, and changing into a vaguely robotic humanoid. It pounds the enemy repeatedly with Shadow damage. FF9 (SUMMON) -Ark ATK: Eternal Darkness ________________________________________ Asura The Queen of the Summoned Monsters, Asura gives one of three effects depending on which face she displays. She either heals the party, gives Protect status, or casts Raise (Life). In FF2 (NA) there was no Protect status, so that effect was replaced with a stronger healing spell. FF4 -Asura ATK: Armor, Cure 3, Life 1 ________________________________________ Belias Belias the Gigas, the Esper of fire, represents Aries, and is the weakest Esper of the game. He is the incarnation of Belias in Tactics. Tactics (CHARACTER) -Belias FF12 -Belias ATK: Painflare, Hellfire ________________________________________ Bismark Thar she blows. Bismark is a white humpback whale who has a strong water-based attack. FF6 -Bismark ATK: Sea Song Unlimited -Bismark SOIL: Shark Grey + Water Blue + Crusher White ________________________________________ Chaos Chaos the Walker of the Wheel, the Esper of wind, represents Taurus. FF12 -Chaos ATK: Aeroga, Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga, Scourge, Darkga, Whirlwind, Tornado ________________________________________ Crusader / Knights of the Round The ultimate Summon in FF6 and FF7. In FF6, Crusader consists of three knights who attacked for non-elemental damage. Unfortunately, the attack damaged allies as well. In FF7, there are thirteen different knights, based on King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table (hence the name) that cause an insane amount of damage which is only useful for fighting the optional bosses. The different knights fly through a psychedelic background and slice and dice the enemy using multiple weapons. FF6 -Crusader (NA) / Jihad (JP) ATK: Purifier FF7 -Knights of the Round ATK: Ultimate End Cuchulainn Cuchulainn the Impure, the Esper of poison, represents Scorpio. He is the incarnation of Cuchulainn in Tactics. Tactics -Cyclops ATK: ??? ________________________________________ Diablos This summon looks very much like a winged demon from hell and bears a slight resemblance to Chaos (see FF1 and FF7). He emerges from a ball of liquid blackness, doles out gravity-based damage (one of the only summons who do), and transforms into a flock of bats that fly away. FF8 -Diablos ATK: Dark Messenger FF11 -Diablos ATK: Ruminous Omen, Camisado, Somnolence, Ruinous Omen (Astral Flow), Ultimate Terror, Noctoshield, Dream Shroud, Nether Blast, Cacodemonia FF12 -Diabolos (ENEMY) Though not directly related to the Diablos summon, it does share a few characteristics. CP: What strange Change does Magicite work on creatures, a perfect Example being this Gargoyle of the Lhusu Mines. Its Form inspired the commonly held Misconception in Bhujerba that the Creatures in its Magicite mines are Visitors from an Otherworld. FF12RW -Diabolos ATK: Nightmare, Gravity ________________________________________ Eden Most people have no idea WHAT Eden is is, though some postulate that it is the Garden of the future (which would fit in with the name, as in the Garden of Eden). It looks like a giant spaceship which blasts the enemy into a black hole. FF8 -Eden ATK: Eternal Breath ________________________________________ Exodus The Viera Totema. See the FFTA section for more information. In FF12, Exodus the Judge-Sal is the non-elemental Esper, representing Libra. He may be a representation of Ex-Death, the final boss of FF5. Tactics Advance (TOTEMA) -Exodus ATK: Not named FF12 -Exodus ATK: Comet, Meteor ________________________________________ Famfrit The Moogle Totema. See the FFTA section for more information. In FF12, Famfrit the Darkening Cloud is the Esper of water, representing Aquarius. His name indicates he may represent Cloud of Darkness, the final boss in FF3. Tactics Advance (TOTEMA) -Famfrit ATK: Not named FF12 -Famfrit ATK: Briny Cannonade, Tsunami ________________________________________ Hades As a summon in FF7, Hades is a skeleton-man, cloaked in a black robe, who stirs a cauldron and spills it on the enemy, causing status effects and damage.
