Posts: 116 Group: Retired Staff Member #120 Joined: June 5, 2008 Favorite Anime Gantz Favorite Genre Psychological/Romatic Comedy	Anime: This Ugly Yet Beautiful World Genre: Romance/Comedy/Action Creator: Saeki Soji Company: Gainax Plot: 23/25 I feel like I've heard this before... Oh yeah, TUYBW tells the story about a boy (Takeru) and his friend (Ryo) who discover a shooting star. That shooting star turns out to be more than a... shooting star. It's a girl. The girl was named Hikari. Hikari was sent to destroy Earth, but similar to Elfen Lied, she has split personalities. Unlike Elfen Lied however, you don't see her evil said much until the end. Did I spoil it? No the box tells you about Hikari so don't fret. Later in the show the friend encounters Akari, who is considered to be the sister. Cool huh? The story can be compared to Please Teacher meets Elfen Lied. However, this isn't a bad kind of rip off, because it's terrific. The characters have so much depth that it's unbelievable and the stories pacing is also excellent. More excellent than that of Elfen Lied or Please Teacher. The comedy fits in perfectly as well as the drama and romance. Many believe that Gainax's newer work was... iffy. This is a breath of fresh air that will surely please fans of the company, genre, and anime in general. Artwork: 15/15 The characters look astonishing. The look of the characters can not be compared to many other anime programs on the marker. The colors are vibrant and lovely and the overall look of the show is tops. Originality: 21/25 Elfen Lied meets Please Teacher. While some elements of the story seem a bit ripped off. Alien love? Split personalities? Jealous cousin? It's mainly how it plays out compared to the other anime on the market similar to it. It's different paced, it has a different feel and has much better character depth than most rip-offy shows out there. Why not also throw in that the look of the characters is pretty excellent. It's a bit... unoriginal at times, but it plays out perfectly. Length & Music: 9/10 Sadly, it ends at a mere 12 episodes. The pacing of it makes it seem a lot longer than it actually is but I believe a lengthened story would be a bit better. On a musical note, the beginning and end score of the show is beautifully orchestrating and might stick in your head for a few days. First Impression and Conclusion: 9/10 You'll feel that it's good work for him at first. By the end you'll most likely adore it. You'll love everything from the characters, to the action, to the ecchi (if you're a perv only :pfft: ). You'll also enjoy the humor, romance, and overall feel, which will be mentioned next. I certainly hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Overall Feel: 15/15 I dig it. The feel is great. The story is excellent, the characters are fantastic and I really have no complaints about this beyond a short length and small doses of unoriginality. The show is a work of art. Age 18	I loved this anime, One of my freinds showed it to me a year ago or so.
