Don't look at me!
Anime: Elfen Lied

Genre: Action/Horror

Creator: Mamoru Kanbe

Company: Genco

Plot: 25/25
The plot of Elfen Lied is brilliant to say the least. It's about a species of humans known as the Diclonius. These people have horns, but that's just minor. The real thing that makes the Diclonius unique is there set of invisible arms. This race is being kept in a storage area, however the first of the species, Lucy escapes, and she's not happy. However, after a bump to the head her personality changes, until of course another bump. The revolution of Lucy and "Nyu" keeps the story interesting and makes you decide if you should like her or not. The characters all have unique personalities and the Diclonius race can really cause some spilled blood. The equal amount of action and drama keep the plot of this show from dying.

Artwork: 14/15
Characters all have a unique feel to them although most Diclonius look similar. It's not the most brilliant work of art you'll ever see but it is quite beautiful with great lighting and pretty red blood.

Originality: 24/25
The show is very original with it's special race and demon arms. The split personality main villan is very unique and you won't be finding it in many other places. The... er cousinly love isn't quite original, but the characters and how the plot plays out is. I'm not going to say it's quite up to par with anime like "Spirited Away", "Paprika" , or "Midori Days" but lets just say if you see any storyline similar that isn't a parody, please contact me.

Length: 5/10
The show had so much potentional and in my opinion could have been longer. Some shows seem perfectly fit for a 13 episode length but not this. A show with so much going for it could have at least went for a second season.

First Impression and Conclusion: 10/10
From the first episode you will be amazed. Most anime don't seem to grip you in the first episode but this one does 100%. The first episode is filled with so much action it puts me in awe. I had to watch the rest of the first volume before stopping, it really grips you in.

Overall Feel: 14/15
The amount of blood may not feel to good for some, but for me the overall feel is dark, gorey, and freaking brilliant. It mixes unlimited action and violence with a unique story that can hardly be matched. You will mostly want to few every episode of this within a week.

TOTAL: 92/100
