((Mich gave me permission to start this off.)) "Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess." the brunette man whispered, looking deep into the book as his eyes traced the pages with great intent. Behind him lay a path of destruction... charred bodies, burnt buildings, and what did survive screamed in shock and agony. Before him stood numerous infantry men as well as members of Shin-Ra's elite guard, SOLDIER. Sheathing his sword to his hip, Genesis continued to rest within his book, lifting his free left hand. "We seek it thus, and take it to the sky." as the second verse was spoken flames erupted from his hands, engulfing the men before him. Nothing came from Genesis's lips as he continued walking forward, ignoring the flames that now scorched the ground and the bodies of the soldiers Genesis had killed. Walking past the fallen, one of the soldiers that was writhing in pain grasped the crimson right pant leg of Genesis. "Mo...monster..." Genesis briefly closed his book as he peered down at the man, brushing the hand away. "Yes, you're right. For, I am a monster.... but, what of those who brought me into being? Are they free from blame? Those who made live many of the monsters that walk this earth now are given no blame. Perhaps I am a monster... but no more so than those who would bare me and call me a success... or those who would call this monster a failure." Genesis explained, casting another fire spell to burn this remaining man alive before walking off. Again his right index finger slipped between the pages of his book to spread it, his sapphire eyes bringing themselves down unto the page as he continued to walk along the path of the destruction he'd wrought. His mind was veiled in his own thoughts, and his eyes continued to scan his book as he once more spoke aloud. "Ripples form on the water's surface..." he whispered, casting another spell, this time Thundaga as he brought down a police helicopter that hovered above. The flying vehicle fell to the ground behind him, shattering across the blackened ground as the oil and gasoline from the plane spattered across the ground like water. The screams from the pilots begged to be freed, to be saved, but nothing came from Genesis. "The wandering soul knows no rest.." his final monologue given he closed the book and stuffed it away in his jacket. "Loveless, act I." he explained, as though the many dead around him were listening. And with his words spoken a single black angel wing protruded from his back, allowing him flight. From here, Genesis would move on to his next conquest... his eyes falling upon the skyline of what had once been the city of Midgar, and now rested as nothing but smoldering ashes along the upper plate... but the slums below remained untouched. From those slums, many looked up in wonder at the warrior who had destroyed the upper city. --- Wutai The island nation of Wutai had changed much since the war against Shin-Ra, and years ago it became very much a tourist attraction rather than the noble village it once had been. "Since Shin-Ra fell, things are getting better... but, damn it, I still can't believe what they've let this place come to." Yuffie groaned, rubbing the back of her neck with a faint, annoyed sigh. "Squaaaaaallll, we need to totally restore Wutai to it's former glory!" the cheerful voice of the raven haired shinobi chirped, glancing to a rather sullen looking young man who was leaning lightly on the side of a building. "Squall! Come on, are you even listening to me?!" "Yuffie, what do you want me to do? I can't exactly say to the elders in your village stop peddling to tourists. You have more pull than I do, and look where that's gotten your precious Wutai..." Squall mumbled, folding his arms over his chest with an angered huff of breath. "Look, Yuffie. Things are going to happen regardless, so we're just going to have to go on with our lives and deal with it." Squall groaned out, rubbing the scar over his face with a faint laugh. "Look, where's the next stop? We need to worry more about this guy that's been tearing through what's left of Shin-Ra, right?" Squall inquired, folding his arms over his chest. "Whatever happened to that blonde boyfriend of your's? I thought he was the big hero SOLDIER, wouldn't he be better suited for saving the world?" Yuffie growled in annoyance. "Chocobo-head is so not my boyfriend, for one." the shinobi girl warned. "And two, Cloud can be a difficult, anti-social jerk, meaning when he feels the need to get involved he will. Other than that, let him keep bothering Tifa, or whatever he's doing now a days." Yuffie explained. "Let's just find the guy, all right? He's probably some old SOLDIER reject who wants to be the next Sephiroth. Hardly going to be of concern for the great ninja Yuffie!" The young brunette man said nothing, because he knew in the end that Yuffie was going to end up inexplicably wrong. If this person could demolish what well trained, albeit small, personal guard Rufus Shinra had left then he wasn't anyone to be taken lightly. "Let's just get going. I don't like sitting around idly for long periods of time." --- It had all started in a Cantina. Samus Aran, bounty hunter... and currently, off duty trying to enjoy this small instance of normaility. Taking a seat at the bar she idly glanced to the barkeep. "Blue Milk, please." The person beside Samus laughed, gaining a glance from the young woman. "Something funny?" she asked calmly as she grasped her drink, taking a small sip. The man beside her was older, his brunette locks earning a small bit of grey patched around certain portions of his head. His lips were curved into a wry smirk before he spoke, his eyes falling upon the blonde. "Just kind of rare that people order that kind of drink in a bar, don't you think?" he asked, taking a sip of his own drink. "You're off duty, right?" Samus didn't say anything, taking another sip of her drink. "Chozo armor or not, most people around populated parts of the galaxy know who you are." She did her best not to flinch at this man deducing who she was, just continuing to gingerly sip at her drink from time to time. Finally, grasping the pistol at her hip she went to aim at the man, only to feel a blaster barrel pressed square into her right side, poking roughly against her ribs. "So you're here to kill me, then?" "Hardly. I might be fast, but if you were on guard I wouldn't have a shot." he spoke cooly, holstering his blaster. "Got a mark for you... courtesy of the New Republic." "Normally they have a more... eloquent way of sending me work." Samus chirped, lifting her right eyebrow as she studied the man. "Normally they don't go after Boba Fett. If there was any inkling of this being an official announcement, he'd know. The guy's one of the best, maybe better than you. Dirtier, though. And he's had too many ties to the Empire in the past to let him go wild much longer." "I thought Boba Fett died. Sarlac pit, Tattoine, if I remember correctly. Kind of hard to believe he's invincible." the blonde taunted, shaking her head a bit. "You'll have to forgive me, but I don't make it a habit of chasing ghosts..." "Two days ago." the man explained, handing over a data pad. "This is a New Republic station that was attacked by Slave I. There's only one person who has ever had access to that ship as far as I know... so, I'd say you might want to chase that ghost." There wasn't another way around what was happening, and whether this guy was a member of the New Republic or not, he was offering a valid bounty. "What kind of payment can I expect?" "200,000 Republic credits." he spoke simply. "Fine." was all she replied. "Where was he last seen?" The man handed over a second data pad, holding all the information Samus would need, including how to contact him once more. Standing up, the young woman nodded before stuffing the data pads away. "I'll contact you when he's been captured." with that concluded, Samus headed out to the spaceport to get into her gunship. "Now I'm taking jobs from scruffy looking weirdos in bars... you've fallen hard, Ms. Aran." -Two days later, exact time unknown, Sullust- The gunship touched down, the ship's engines screeching from the strain landing on the volcanic planet had already put on it. "Initiate Chozo suit... heat protection shield version." Samus ordered, her power suit finding its way over her Zero suit as she stepped out of the gunship. Looking around, the hunter lifted her left hand to the side of her helmet, bringing her visor systems up. "Lots of interference... that's going to get old, quickly." Samus muttered. "Computer... can you boost signal strength? Re-direct energy from thrusters if needed." "Re-direct complete. Signal strength at 35%" It wasn't much, but it was enough for Samus to get a clearer visual. "Now, it's time to try and find out where Boba Fett is..." --- Los Angeles, California "Are you sure you plan to stay for three weeks?" the receptionist at the hotel desk asked, glancing to the desheveled man before him. "Mister.. what was your name again?" "Lucas." the man lied, tightening his grip on the bag slung over his right shoulder. "Just charge me whatever it costs." he then added, placing a sum of money on the counter. "I'll pay the rest later." he explained, the receptionist just shrugging her shoulders as she handed over a key. Taking it, Bruce Banner made way to the room he'd paid for and quickly locked himself in. There was no way he'd actually manage to stay put here for three weeks... three days were he lucky. Placing his bag down, Bruce found his way into his bed and sighed as he stared up at the ceiling. Being on the run was nothing new, of course. That was the great 'priviledge' he gained from his alter-ego. This time, he was getting attacked from all sides... heroes, villains, and the government. Closing his eyes briefly, he attempted to rest his weary body... only to hear helicopters overhead. "They're not for you, Bruce... you left them behind a week ago, they couldn't have found you." he thought to himself, doing his best to convince himself of that. Until he heard the voices over a megaphone. "Bruce Banner! Come out with your hands up!" Bruce quickly stood up, looking out the window to see a large army battalion waiting for him, complete with a few tanks waiting on different parts of the street. Gritting his teeth, he clenched the window sill as he tried to stay calm. "...they didn't bring enough..." he muttered, his eyes pulsing bright green. |

[ Sullust, A Planet in the Outer Rim, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...] The Slave I touched down on the rocky surface silently, its pilot's mind focused on only one thing, the bounty waiting for him on this volcanic planet. His name was Col Sordin, a scientist from the planet Rann, which was an extragalactic body, who had left to research in a planet from the Empire Remant. However, he had run off, having stolen information and secrets from the Imperial remnant and taking them with him. Fett was hired due to his reputation as Vader's "right hand man", which he of course found to be a contemptuous label. He was a man for hire, the Dark Lord of the Sith, not coincidentally, was often the highest paying man in the galaxy. Fett flicked on a display on his cockpit's control console that brought up the rap-sheet for this particular bounty. He was a human male, fairly unimpressive physically, but was a brilliant scientist. The official read out he received from his contractor was that Sordin suffered a mental breakdown and took a complete copy of the system's data, destroyed the laboratory in which he worked and set off into seclusion. It was likely a testament to his genius that even Boba Fett found him a hard man to track. Nonetheless, everything he had found led him to Sullust. Fett shut down his ship's systems, and then took a brief glance at his scarred face, still somewhat surprised by his appearance every time he saw his reflection, and placed his helmet atop his head. The Sarlacc may have found him somewhat indigestible, but it had not left him unscathed. Without further introspection, the bounty hunter turned on his heel and made his way to the hatch, along the way slinging his weapons onto his person and equipping his jetpack. It didn't take long for Fett to cover a significant amount of ground. His source on this planet had given him specific coordinates on where Sordin was holing up. He was in an abandoned SoroSuub Corp laboratory, which, like the rest of the Sullustian civilization, was located underground, where the harsh weather and volatile atmosphere was replaced with a more favorable climate. Soon enough, the Mandalorian warrior found the entrance and entered silently. It was pitch black, but that made no difference, as the visor on his helmet immediately compensated for changes in lighting. Without a sound, he made his way through the sterile halls of the former place of business, his helmet showing no signs of heat, nor picking up any ambient sounds. He began to wonder if his source had been playing him. As soon as the thought crossed his mind, a faint sound came from the west. Fett's head snapped to the left, as he squinted his eyes, the macrobinacular function in his visor zoomed until the bounty hunter saw a faint trace of heat. A grim smile came across the warrior's lips and he turned down the twisting corridor. He was momentarily interrupted, however, by a message from his ship flashing across his HUD. Apparently another ship had entered the atmosphere. "Give me a visual," he whispered, his voice steely and emotionless. A somewhat blurry, but distinct image of an orange, oblong shape appeared in the corner of his helmet. "Samus Aran," he thought to himself. "I don't need that trouble right now. It's not likely she's after Sordin, as she's nearly exclusively Republic. Meaning someone's put a price on my head." He smiled at the irony, and then continued on. He'd finish up this mission and be back on board the Slave I before the woman ever found him. Aran was good, one of the best, but Boba Fett did not have a reputation for nothing, either. ---------------------- [ Gotham City, Beneath Wayne Manor ] "Well I'll agree with you, this certainly doesn't seem like the Joker's M.O," Tim Drake stated, balancing one handed from the parallel bars nearby the Batcomputer. "But so what? Joker's changed his M.O at leas ten times in the last three years," he stated, before grabbing the bar with his other hand as well, and flipping from it and landing with his back facing away from the screen. "It's not just the Joker here," replied Batman, sitting on the high backed chair in front of the massive computer. "I'm willing to stretch my disbelief that he's resorted to simple bank robbery again, but there's also a security feed here of Harvey Dent robbing a convenience store, and Mr. Freeze breaking into a woman's home." "Weird," agreed Robin. "Clayface maybe?" "Possible," Batman agreed. "But I haven't heard anything of him escaping Blackgate. I'll stop by, though, see if there's been on oversight by the press." With that, he stood up, cape swooping behind him. Tim followed him with his eyes as he walked toward the Batmobile. "Need any help?" he asked, standing up and beginning to walk toward the case with his costume in it. "Not this time. I've got a case for you in a folder by the computer. I'll need you to get to work on it right away so that we can avoid any international incidents." Tim's lips turned into a lopsided smile, before he rethought the idea of the statement being a joke. Curiosity thusly piqued, he ran to the computer and saw a file with the Robin logo emblazoned on its front. The young crimefighter flipped it open, and saw a printout of three foreign diplomats photos. He thumbed through the rest of the folder, noticing that all of them had gone missing a few weeks prior. In the last few days two more had gone missing, and two of the original three had begun committing crimes. "And again Bruce proves that he does not crack jokes," he stated, putting down the folder. One of the ambassadors had been taken into custody, it was, of course, the most logical starting point. Meanwhile, the Batmobile was racing toward the bank which the Joker had just robbed. It was strange, he thought, to hear no sirens while the video showed quite clearly there had been an explosion, and a number of small fires. The police scanner said nothing about units being dispatched to the sight, meaning they had everyone they already needed there. For a Joker bombing, it seemed to be more than a little suspiciously under the radar. |

[A few miles outside of Midgar] The rumble rumble of the motorcycle echoed between the trees as it followed a familiar path up to a private lodge. The spiky, blonde-haired rider dismounted as he reached the steps, glancing toward the large blade sheathed at the side of his bike, reaching out for the handle, only to pause right before he could take it in hand. Pulling his hand back, he sighed softly, instead reaching for the parcel strapped to the side and unlatching it. Cloud Strife ascended the steps unarmed, using this time to remove his sunglasses and pocket them before reaching the door. As he arrived, he stared at the large steel door and sighed softly, eventually knocking lightly. A few moments later, a cocky voice echoed from behind. "Whoooo is it?" "It's me." Cloud replied, not really in the mood to play any games. "Me? Don't know anyone by that name!" The voice continued. Cloud could only roll his eyes at this turn of events, since when did this guy get the nerve to mess around with him? "Open the damn door, Reno." Cloud snapped back. The door finally opened to reveal the familiar face of the crimson-haired Turk, smirking proudly as if his little joke had been impressive. Cloud immediately pushed past, barely giving another second's notice to the man. As he entered the eerily empty room, two other men were immediately visible. Reno's intimidating and silent partner, Rude, as well as the man behind many of the world's problems, Rufus Shinra himself. Cloud's eyes narrowed a bit as he glanced away and held out the package. "That'll be 100 gil. Don't ask me for any favors while I'm here. I'm not interested." Cloud stated, wanting to get this over with as soon as possible. Rufus may be trying to right his wrongs, but that didn't mean Cloud had to like him at all. Things he and his father had done caused people to die.. Important people.. It was just too hard to forgive. "What is with that look?" Rufus began, taking a few steps toward Cloud, cocking his head slightly. "I just don't like that you assume you can call me whenever you need something, now. We're not friends." Cloud returned his gaze to the former Shin-ra President. "You've still got a lot to do to make up for your past." "Need something? Don't be absurd. Just getting a delivery, that's all. If I'm going to do such, I might as well ask the best in Midgar." Shinra laughed lightly. Cloud shook his head in response. "Don't you have lackeys for that?" Cloud responded, to which Reno scoffed. "Both times I've been called here, you've asked for a favor." "Well, I admit I did have somewhat of an ulterior motive, but it isn't for a favor. Rather, I wanted to return something that belonged to you." Rufus motioned for Rude, who carried a large metal case to Cloud, opening it to reveal a multitude of glowing materia. "This was left behind after Kadaj and his friends were.. taken care of. It is yours, is it not?" Cloud eyed the materia before waving his hand dismissively. "Keep it. I don't want it anymore. Just give me my money so I can get out of here." "Very well." Rufus sighed, motioning for Rude once again, who placed the box aside and withdrew the money, handing it to Cloud, who in return, handed him the package. "Thank you, Cloud. As always, a swift delivery... You may not consider us friends, but I'd like to think our.. relationship is improving. I notice you didn't bring your blade this time." "Maybe that's just because I knew I could take you all on without it." Cloud smirked lightly, turning back toward the door. Rufus chuckled, pausing as his cell phone began to ring. "This is Shinra... Stop talking so quickly, you're not making any sense..." Rufus began into the receiver while Cloud reached for the handle. Rufus' eyes then widened at the next message. "They were... all taken out...?" At this point, Cloud paused. "Do what you can to help the survivors. I'll be over as soon as possible." As he shut the phone, Rufus somewhat amused expression was now long gone, and in its place was one of shock and desperation. "The SOLDIER law enforcement patrols in Midgar have been completely wiped out, reportedly.. by one single man..." Cloud shrugged a bit. "That would be your problem. I'm not one of them anymore... Never was." "The man apparently wreaked havoc on the entire upper city, and flew off with a single black wing..." Rufus added. Cloud froze. That was impossible... Either way, he had to check on Tifa, Denzel and Marlene... He suddenly turned back, grabbing the materia case before rushing out the door. Once he was on Fenrir again, he raced toward Midgar, cell phone in hand. "Tifa.. Pick up..." ---- [Karakura Town, Japan] "Good Mooooooorning, Ichigo!!" An energetic shout came from outside the bedroom door before the door comes crashing open and a large man rushes into the room. Ichigo Kurosaki suddenly shoots up out of bed to notice a foot flying directly toward his face. With a slight sigh, the orange haired teen simply angles his body to where his father completely misses his attack, crashing through the second story window glass and falling face first into the lawn below. A momentary groan is heard followed by a surprisingly still upbeat shout. "Excellent dodge, son!" The same old morning routine. With a mumble of annoyance, Ichigo slipped out of bed and began the day. After getting dressed, he stumbled downstairs, his father already back to normal, seated at the table with his two younger sisters and roomate, Rukia Kuchiki. Yuzu, the youngest sister smiled warmly, standing up to greet her brother and bring him a plate of bacon and eggs for breakfast. "Good morning, Onii-chan!" She chirped, turning to her father and patting his bruised forehead with a wet towel. "Morning Yuzu, Karin, Rukia." He nodded, beginning to munch his food without much of an expression. The onyx-haired girl beside him simply stared at Ichigo, awaiting a reaction. He attempted to not notice, but eventually the discomfort set in and he turned in his chair sharply. "What are you starin' at me like that for?!" He shouted, not phasing Rukia one bit as she quickly withdrew a sketchpad and held it up under her nose. "My homework for art class. I need your honest opinion. I call it, the Essence.. of Spring" She informed. The picture held up was a mash of inappropriate colors, shapes and figures that were near unrecognizable other than a few poorly drawn bunny rabbit faces which appeared to be doodled like a first grader. Ichigo's face stared blankly at the horror, his mouth slowly hanging open. "I think a baby could fingerpaint better while having a seizure." He replied bluntly, which was soon followed by a spoon colliding with his forehead. "OW.." Rukia then rose from her seat and began to drag Ichigo away by the ear. "We'll be late for school. Thank you for the delicious breakfast as always, Yuzu-san!" She said with an eerily happy tone, considering the situation she was currently involved in. "Rukia.. let me.. go! Oww!" Was all that could be heard as the two Shinigami students exited the house. - As the lecture went on, Ichigo's face slid further down his palm which he leaned against. It wasn't until he noticed a face peek into the classroom that he suddenly shot upright and rushed out of the room, causing most of the students to look in surprise, while others just sat quietly, mainly Ishida, Orihime and Chad... "What the hell are you doing here, Toushirou!?" Ichigo shouted at the rather young looking, ivory haired Shinigami who stood in a school uniform, with a currently very frustrated expression. "That's Captain Hitsugaya to you. I'll be blunt. I'm here to request your help." The short Captain began to explain, eventually holding up a sheet of paper with a man's profile written onto it. "This is Genesis Rhapsodos. A dangerous member of an elite military group called SOLDIER. His traitorous methods eventually lead to his demise, but his soul never arrived in Soul Society, nor in Huceo Mundo, or the limbo. There are forces at work here that even we are unaware of, and Soul Society would like you to investigate it." "Huh, me? What the hell for?" Ichigo raised an eyebrow, wondering how Soul Society ever got along without him in the first place. "Seeing that he isn't a spirit, we cannot fight him in our spirit forms. However, the fact that you're still human with Shinigami powers allows for a bit of a loophole. Kurosutchi at the Research Division designed this." Hitsugaya held up a pendant with the Shinigami mark on it, much like the one he already had. "This will allow your spiritual powers to form over your human body, without needing to go into spirit form. This unfortunately won't work with a Gigai* such as this one. Therefore you're the only one who can intercept him." Ichigo scratched his head, making sure he was understanding all of this correctly. "Uh, so.. this lets me use my powers in human form? Sounds weird... Is that safe?" "Well, in theory it is completely safe, but obviously we cannot test it. I recommend avoiding using Bankai as much as possible, and do not, under any circumstances, use that hollow power of yours. If it were to take you over while in human form, you'd never be able to return, nor would your soul transfer to Soul Society when you inevitably would be struck down." Toushirou continued, his voice unchanging, as if this sort of event occurred daily. "Gee, great..." Ichigo muttered, glancing down at the pendant again, sighing heavily. "Please, Kurosaki. This man has already murdered plenty of innocents. There is no telling when he'll be stopped, or if anyone can stop him.. besides you." Hitsugaya finally pleaded, still serious in his expression. "Alright.. I guess I have no choice. Well, if you're not here to help me, then.. why is she here?" Ichigo pointed down the hall, where a large chested, long haired blonde woman admired her reflection in the mirror, her body obviously too.. developed to be in the uniform for a high school student. Hitsugaya looked back, noticing his Vice Captain, Rangiku Matsumoto also being admired by a crowd of male students. His teeth began to grind in annoyance as he just stared. "She apparently was unwilling to let me travel to the real world without some sort of backup... If you ask me, she just wished for an excuse to wear that uniform again." Ichigo sighed heavily, still staring at the pendant. He was the only one? Perhaps that wasn't true. Orihime, Chad and Ishida could all use their powers in human form, but if this guy was as dangerous as Hitsugaya claimed, it was probably best not to get them involved. "I'll get right on it, then..." ----- [Konoha Village; The Land of Fire] The sun began to set, however the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade, was still hard at work in her office in the center of Konoha. Reviewing report after report was not exactly what one would expect when accepting the title of the head ninja in a village, but it was sadly all too common. The beautiful, blonde woman tiredly dashed her pen across paper after paper, trying to end her day as quickly as possible. Upon reaching the last report, Tsunade groaned with relief as she set it atop the pile and leaned back in her chair, nearly falling asleep right on the spot. However she would suddenly be struck awake again as the door slammed open, her assistant, Shizune rushing in. "Lady Tsunade, an urgent report has come in from the outer continents!" She exclaimed, causing the Hokage to rub her forehead. "Let them take care of it, then. We have enough of our own issues to worry about." Tsunade yawned. The short black haired woman continued inside, though, and slammed the report down onto the desk. Tsunade cracked an eye open and began to read, suddenly picking it up to get a closer look. "Damn it... Shizune, inform ANBU... No.. not just any agent will do..." Tsunade sighed. "I know, Lady Tsunade. I will get her immediately..." Shizune nodded, rushing out once again. Not minutes later, a black and gray armored ninja leapt in through the window. The form of the ninja was feminine, but the face was hidden behind a porcelain animal mask, signifying her association with the ANBU special military police in Konoha. "You requested me, Lady Tsunade?" The soft voice spoke out from behind the mask. Tsunade watched the woman shinobi intently as she sighed lightly, finally gathering her composure and pushing the report to the other side of the desk, allowing the ninja to pick it up and inspect it. "This is a priority target for assassination. I would like you to carry it out. He's extremely dangerous, so be careful. I know this is against your rules, but please.. as a personal favor to your old teacher.. value your life before completing the mission." "...Yes, Tsunade-sama." The kunoichi replied after a moment of hesitation. "Dismissed..." With that, the ninja disappeared in a cloud of smoke. Tsunade sighed heavily, before standing from her desk and exiting the room. *Gigai is a false body Shinigami use for extended stay in the real world. |

Samus used her back and feet thrusters as best she could to navigate through the burning planet, her azure orbs hurting as she did her best to make sense of all the visuals she was getting. "Is there anything we can re-direct to get extra power to visuals?" she asked of her ship's computer, waiting on a feed of information through the HUD of her visor. Her visuals pulsed bright blue for a moment before the computer responded, a text only message meaning she must've been losing communications already. "Too much interference on this rock, guess I better just wade through the best I can." she mumbled to herself. "Sullust isn't a very friendly planet, but I know at least from time to time people have lived here..." she whispered, bringing her vision downwards to the ground below. Initiating the X-ray visor, Samus did her best to secure a view of what rested below the ground. "Caverns... bet it's a bit cooler down there, at least." she murmured, taking a step back as she lifted her right arm, leveling off her blaster as she fired a super missile into the rock. The rock impacted and shattered, giving way to a small cavern that lead along the same path Samus had been walking. Dropping down she noticed a severe change in temperature; the underground cavern was much cooler than the molten planet above. "Systems check." Samus whispered, pressing her left index and middle finger to the side of her helmet. "Improved visuals as well as improved map information. Now let's see if we can track Fett..." she mumbled to herself as she brought her map screen up in her HUD, doing her best to make sense of the spiraling cavern path she had thrown herself into. The scanner proved to show faint signs of life far off in the distance, but the caverns split off into two paths. One of which was too small for a human to fit through... at least upright. The other, while safer, took a round about to where the life signs rang from and would take too much time to traverse. Obviously the only option was the small cavern, and the use of the morph ball. The young woman's Chozo armor soon shifted to where Samus could curl up into a small ball as it then hurtled itself towards the small crevice that would lead to the life signs. Of course, she knew the trip would be long, as her map read out showed... but this would be the fastest way to get to those signs of life. With each passing minute the life signs became more and more clear... she could detect two life signs, at least. She began to presume that one was Fett, and the other was either a companion of Fett or the more likely scenario, Fett's personal mark. "Assuming that Fett is here on a bounty, perhaps I can catch him off guard..." she thought to herself, finding her way to the building that the signs of life were from, or more accurately, directly underneath it. Finding a small hatch that lead into the building, Samus pulled herself upwards as she began to look around. The two marks were distant from one another, but one was closing in on the stationary one much faster than she had expected. "Logic dictates that's Fett..." Samus whispered to herself. Tightening her left palm, she began walking quietly towards where the two were. She had to assume by now that Fett had been alerted to her presence, assuming he hadn't always known since the second she landed the ship. "Computer, can you pin-point the location of Slave I?" Samus asked, picking up her pace even if it meant eliminating any chance of stealth. "Location confirmed." She smirked a bit. This would be an upper hand if nothing else, should it come to a ship chase. Continuing down the hallways of the building, Samus began to charge her arm cannon, preparing to end this as swiftly as possible. It'd just be a matter of how well prepared for her Fett was... and she hoped that wouldn't be too prepared, lest she lose the element of surprise. --- Airship, Kame-tendou; Bridge. Squall sighed briefly as he looked out over the horizon, his hands resting gently on the railing as he awaited Midgar to come into view. "I think it's a little pointless to head back to what's already destroyed." Squall admitted, rubbing his index finger gently over his nose. "Yuffie, why are you so convinced going there will help us out?" he then asked, only to earn an annoyed glance from the pilot of the ship, though Squall didn't claim to care and promptly ignored it. Before Yuffie answered, however, the pilot found the need to address the young swordsman. "You're rather impudent, questioning Miss Yuffie." he warned. "Miss Yuffie is a master of all things ninja, that includes investigation!" Squall scoffed a bit at this remark, folding his arms over his chest as he sat down in the nearest seat, a cynical smile tracing his features. "Whatever." was the only answer he could offer. "If this weirdo has any brains I'm sure he's long gone from anywhere near Midgar..." he thought to himself, rubbing his eyes as he did his best to just concentrate on what would transpire were they to find him. Squall might have been good, but if this guy could take down a whole line of SOLDIER he didn't hold a shot on his own. Yuffie could only back him up so much... he didn't like their odds if they actually came in contact with whoever did this. All he could hope was the mystery man's strength was highly exaggerated, or that there was more than one assailant. "Squall, you sure are awful quiet." Yuffie murmured, leaning over her partner with a confused look. "Getting the jitters?" she inquired, smirking. "Hardly. Not my style." he offered in response. "Just thinking of our game plan... if we're even going to have one." "Oh yee of little faith..." Yuffie grumbled, doing her best to hold onto the argument that she had a plan. But of course, she didn't... --- Genesis touched gently down against the ground, his eyes scanning the surrounding areas as he went about his search. The cold air blew hard, snow flurries powdering Genesis's chocolate locks as he began walking to a small building on the outskirts of Modeoheim. This part of the mountain was known as the Icicle Inn to many... and it had once been a refuge for quite possibly the most brilliant scientist ever born, Professor Gast. This could be where Genesis found his answers. Taking a step inside the building the former SOLDIER shut and locked the door behind him as he walked up to the computer waiting there. It may have been password protected once, but no more as Genesis effortlessly began searching through the files. "Hojo undoubtedly was here years ago... but the information is still here. "The infinite mystery... the Gift of the Goddess is what three men seek. But their fates are scattered by war. One becomes a hero, one wanders the land and the last is taken prisoner." Genesis recited. "Sephiroth, were you the hero, and I the wanderer? Or was it Angeal who became the hero, and you who now wander the lifestream? Does this make me the prisoner, my friends?" Genesis asked. "Prisoner to what I am... to what I might yet become.. a tragically fitting end." As he continued to search through the computer files, he found what he wanted... the newest files, likely left by Hojo, not Gast. "Final report, S-cells. With Sephiroth presumed dead, there are two perfect specimen remaining. SOLDIER First Class, Zack Fair and Infantryman 2nd class Cloud Strife." he parted his lips lightly after his last sentence was uttered. "I remember them... but are they still alive..?" he asked of himself. "If they are..." "When the war of the beasts brings about the world's end, The goddess descends from the sky." he receited. "Wings of light and dark spread afar, She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting..." |

Without so much as a word, Boba Fett placed the barrel of his pistol against the back of Col Sordin's neck. The man dropped his tools, his body noticeably trembling from Fett's presence. The bounty hunter leaned in close, bringing his helmet next to Sordin's head. "You're a hard man to trace, Col," he stated simply. "I expect you to give in simply and come with me. I don't need this complicated by you running." "Just kill me and be done with it..." he said, his voice trembling as much as his body. "You're no good to me dead," stated the Mandalor, who stood back up straight. "On your feet, we've got a lot of ground to cover. Up," Fett repeated and forced Sordin to his feet. The scientist struggled against him, even going so far as to push him down. He moved for something on the panel, a vibroknife! Fett blasted at Sordin's hand as it made its way for the weapon. "You're worth less damaged. Stand still if you know what's good for you." He had his pistol pointed at Sordin, and then raised his rifle toward Samus. "And you can stop your hiding." The 360 degree display on his helmet made her stealthy approach useless. "I admit to being surprised to have a price on my head. I haven't bothered Solo or his Rebel friends since Tatooine." His finger floated over the rifle's trigger, he turned around to face her properly. "And don't think I've never killed a Chozo with a power suit, Aran." He stood there for a few brief moments, guns pointed at his hunter and his hunted. And in that moment, he let his guard down on the unassuming scientist. He had disregarded what was going on behind him because he arrogantly wrote off his prey. It was a mistake that he long ago learned should never be made. Perhaps his age was catching up with him. As he stared down Samus, Sordin had loosed a hotwire and thrust it against Fett's back. The bounty hunter let out a scream of pain and fell forward, his helmet's display flickering off and on a few times before returning to life. He felt what happened next before he saw it. The ground below him began to shake and rumble, and there was a roar of crushing stone and blasting rock. An intense heat then pervaded the cavern and when Fett turned around he saw a full sized ship break through the ground and take flight into the volcanic surface above. He stood up and then activated his jetpack. Once airborn he turned around to face Samus, and spoke. "We'll finish this later, right now I've got a job to finish." With that, he took of behind the ship and dropped onto the surface. "Slave I power on and rendezvous on my coordinates," he spoke as he chased after Sordin's ship on foot. He did this to keep the distance between the two of them at its absolute minimum and to keep Samus off his tail for a little longer. In less than a minute, the ship was floating above him. Again, Fett activated his jets for a brief burst, which allowed him to board. As he crossed the distance from hatch to cockpit, he was already controlling the ship by remote on his person. Once seated, he spun the captains chair around and put the jets on max. He'd be in front of Sordin before they even broke atmo. --------------- Soon enough, the Batmobile came to a halt in front of the bank, where a number of cops were on the scene. Batman stepped out, and even he was surprised to see that no damage had been done to the building or its surrounding area at all, despite it clearly being bombed on camera. "Never thought I'd say this but am I glad to see you," came the distinct sound of Harvey Bullock's voice. "I gotta admit, this has got me stumped," he went on to explain, scratching his head beneath his fedora. "What happened," Batman demanded more than asked. Bullock turned his head to face the bank. "Got me. When I got here, it looked like hell. The whole front of the bank had been blown clear off, cars were knocked over, whole lot of smoke. Then it just fizzled out like it was all some sort of projection or somethin'," Batman narrowed his eyes behind his mask, and walked toward the doors. "On top of that, no one was hurt. Witnesses inside say that it looked like the Joker before, but a couple of them who seen the guy before swore up and down he was too serious." Batman said nothing, and crouched down in front of the door, looking for any clues. There was no debris, no dirt and the floor of the bank was scuff free, meaning no foot print. The only thing he did see was a small cube. He picked it up and held it between his thumb and forefinger, raising it to eye level. "The hell is that, some kind of dice?" questioned Bullock. "I don't know," admitted the bat. He stood up, and brushed past Bullock. "Hey, you're taking evidence from a crime scene, pal!" warned Harvey. Batman ignored him and climbed back into the Batmobile. It took off silently, leaving Bullock to attend to assuring everyone that the GCPD was on top of it. Which, Bullock was begrudging to admit, seemed to be a lie more often than he liked. ------------ "I have to admit it's always a bit of surprise to see you here without Batman," spoke Commissioner Gordon, standing outside the interrogation room with Robin. "He's got another case," explained Tim, looking through the window at the man inside. He was disheveled and sweaty, but his finely tailored suit and identifiable hair plugs made it clear that this was out of character. "Have you gotten anything from him?" he asked. "Not anything substantial," Gordon replied. "He claims not to remember anything. I haven't pressed him very hard. Last thing this city needs is an ambassador condemning it to his whole country. We can't legally hold him for much longer, so there's not much we can do." "Officially," Robin said with a grin. "I'm sure if one of your men try to stop me and I barge in anyway, there's no way the city can be held accountable if I'm a little rough." Gordon smiled at this, and the plan began. A minute later, the door to the interrogation room swung open, and in swept Robin, cape draped over him, the shadows making him seem twice his height. "Answers," spoke Tim in his most commanding impression of Batman. Before anything else could be said between him and the ambassador, one of the GCP officers ran in after him, gun raised. "You can't be in here!" he ordered, his aim unwavering. In a single fluid movement, Robin covered the gap between the two of them, aimed the officer's arm upward, and the gunfire went harmlessly into the ceiling. There was a brief struggle, but it ended with Robin pushing the officer out the door and locking it behind him. "So, as I was saying, I've got a few questions." The ambassador began to babble angrily in French. Tim continued, "My first mission as Robin was three weeks in France. Tell me what happened." The man stared at Tim angrily, and began to talk. "The last thing I remember before being found by the police was a little man coming up to me in the street. He offered me a pair of headphones, saying that they were free samples from some company. I took them so he would leave me alone. But when I was in my limo on the way to a meeting with the mayor, I needed to relax. I put them on and then the next thing I knew I was being handcuffed at the side of a warehouse. Apparently I was under arrested for trafficking narcotics." "And you have no memory after this little man came up to you," Robin stated. The Frenchman nodded. He thought he had a pretty strong idea of what had happened. "Can you tell me anything about this man?" "He was a little bit less than your height. Five two, perhaps. His head was large, larger than a normal person's, and he had big teeth and an overbite. He was a gingerhead, and there was something impish about him. I did not like him." "Well you're in luck, I know just who your dwarf was, Mister Ambassador. He'll be in custody by tomorrow night," stated Robin as he turned and swept out of the room. Gordon was waiting for him outside. "Well?" "Looks like Jervis Tetch got out of Arkham a couple lifetimes early," Robin said, the again unstated but clearly implied in the tone of his voice. "The Mad Hatter," Gordon echoed, the annoyance clear in his voice as well. |

Samus cursed under her breath as Fett aimed a rifle at her. She didn't know how until he explained the full range of motion his helmet allowed him, something she'd have to look into for her own Chozo armor. "I guess I shouldn't be impressed, not by one of the only hunters I know to have bested Jedi." she complimented, her vision still on Fett as she leveled off her arm cannon. She couldn't jeopardize this moment, knowing fully well that Fett's own prey might be of use to her. Then it all transpired, Fett falling and the other mark escaping. Gritting her teeth behind her glowing green visor Samus turned to Fett as he took flight, saying that they'd finish this later. She could've aimed for his back. She could've killed him right there, or at least tried to. But why? It wouldn't have been an honorable way to end this mark, it wouldn't have been her style. "Gunship, online. Rendezvous with me immediately. Continue tracking Slave I." Samus ordered, taking off on foot as well as she now did much like Fett had, and followed Slave I on foot just like he had followed Sordin's ship. Then she saw it, her orange and yellow gunship touching down. "Retract hatch, do not attempt landing. Continue following Slave I." And with that said, Samus ignited her feet and back thrusters as strongly as she could, leaping up to grasp the landing pad. Swinging her legs forward, she flipped onto the landing pad which quickly ascended, allowing Samus unto her cockpit. "Disengage arm cannon." she spoke to her Chozo suit, which was quickly replaced with an orange armored hand to match that of her left side. Finding her way to her seat she gently let her body touch down unto it, grasping the controls as she strapped herself down. "Autopilot, disengage. Thrusters to full power." Gripping the controls of her ship Samus Aran gritted her teeth, doing her best to keep up with the ship in front of her. The infamous Slave I, ship to the bounty hunter Boba Fett, had much higher speed than her Gunship seemed to. "Damn it!" she growled, redirecting secondary systems to her thrusters in hopes of being able to keep a better pace.. "I am not losing him!" she reminded herself, firing her ship's blasters as she aimed for the thrusters of Slave I, but her shots missed. He was good, better than the usual hunter scum she went after. "Chozo suit, mode change. Gravity suit, prepare for possible inspace battle. Prepare for atmospheric entry on my first call, as well." Samus whispered to her computer. Both her hands grasped the controls tightly, the only part of her Chozo suit not activated was her right arm's blaster, due to her need to "Warning! Warning! Unknown anamolly detected. Auto-piloting initiating to avoid." "Computer, disengage auto-pilot sequence! I'm not losing him!" Samus shouted. It was against her better judgment, but she knew she could nab him before this spatial distortion or whatever it was effected her ship. "Load super missile bays, prepare to lock on." Grasping the controls tighter she shifted them into targeting mode, aiming now for the weapon systems as well as the engines. She'd either disarm Boba Fett, leave it dead in space, or both. At least, that was her intent, but the missiles would not find their mark as she noticed the ship in front of Boba Fett. "I totally forgot about him... the guy Fett was chasing. I don't think he's actually someone who the Republic would want dead... even if he did work for the Empire, he doesn't now. He'd likely be inclined to work for the Republic if I help him.." she thought to herself, sighing. "De-activate missiles, attempt to grapple Slave I with tractor beam." She couldn't risk hurting the other ship. But, her mind wandered back to the anamolly that her ship had detected. "Anamolly detected is known as Zeta beam. Effects unknown. Technology is hypothetical and assumed to not exist in full capacity." Samus gritted her teeth as she heard her computer's "analysis" of the technology. "Not very helpful..." Samus mumbled, doing her best to focus instead on bringing Fett down rather than worrying on what she was actually about to have to deal with with this Zeta beam. --- The screams were unbearable as the Hulk terrorized through the streets of LA. One of the tank barrels hung tightly from Hulk's left hand as he swung it into another, both vehicles exploding. Many of the soldiers sent to recover Banner were already dead, injured, or smart enough to retreat against the mean green gamma powered machine. There were still those trying to fight off the Hulk, but they seemed like a few mosquitoes attempting to take on a massive tank as Hulk flung his right arm along the remaining soldiers, knocking them in every direction. His eyes then narrowed as he saw what was undoubtedly the leader of this group, his massive palm wrapping around the man's waist. "Leave Hulk alone! Hulk just want be left alone!" the behemoth ordered, tossing him to the ground like a rag doll before taking a massive leap from the asphalt and onto a large building. From here, Hulk leapt again, touching down just shy of a mile away as he then began running, doing his best to clear as much distance as possible. "Puny Banner always get Hulk into trouble!" Hulk growled in anger, continuing to run, every so often taking another leap to clear distance. Then just as the Hulk went to leap again a gold and blue clad man floated in front of him, his flowing canary colored locks wavering in the wind. "... Leave Hulk alone." "Bruce, you have to stop... running away and smashing anything in your path won't.." Sentry didn't get to finish as the Hulk hurled a large fist into the hero's gut. Sentry went flying faster and further than even he realized, and when he returned to where the Hulk had been he was gone. "Bruce... you can't keep running forever. They're going to find you eventually... and, when someone does, it might not be someone friendly." --- Modeoheim, Icicle Inn area The information Genesis had learned was of great use, but now he found himself with even further information that might be of interest... this time it was more of Hojo's notes. It spoke of things such as those of extraordinary power outside of his own specimen, those imbued with natural magic, skills, and others that couldn't truly be explained. "Interesting..." he pondered over these notes for a bit, glancing to his copy of Loveless as he thumbed the book open, looking over a particular verse. "As the war sends the world hurling towards destruction The prisoner departs with his newfound love And embarks on a new journey" Closing his book once more a smirk traced his lips, Genesis's new mission freshly planted within his mind as he took off in flight. There were many places close to Modeoheim he could investigate, but there question was where to begin? The closest heavily populated place seemed the best, and so he decided to go there. -Sometime later, Japan- Touching down gently on a rooftop, Genesis looked over the ground and smirked. It was a beautiful metropolis to say the least, and Genesis couldn't help but admire that beauty as were it some fine piece of literature. Now it would be time to find one of these so called... creatures of interest. Dropping to the ground below he began to take in the sights. --- Midgar, Upper sector 4. Squall glanced at the rubble amongst them with a faint sigh. "Yuffie, this is a dead end. The guy was thorough, and there isn't anything of any interest here." he mentioned, shaking his head a little bit. This was, as of thus far, fruitless. He didn't want to admit that he was right, because he knew it wouldn't get them anywhere but Yuffie really had wasted their time bring them here. "Isn't there anywhere else you think we could look? I don't think there's any sign of him in Sector 4." Squall offered, rubbing the back of his head with a faint sigh. Yuffie sighed, finding her way over to Squall and leaning faintly on his arm, looking up at him. "You're such a downer, Squall... even if you are right. You can't deny that I had a good idea checking here first!" she then chirped happily, grinning up at the young man as she continued to lean against him, but Squall tried to shift a bit to get her away from him. "What's wrong, Squallllly? Is the fact that you have a beautiful young lady leaning on you making you embarrassed?" she asked, grinning proudly. Squall growled in annoyance, his cheeks faintly red. "No, you're just being annoying." he muttered, but Yuffie just kept grinning, now wrapping both arms around Squall's left arm. "Yuffie, enough..." he ordered, his face still red. "You're adorable, Squall." she giggled, letting him go. "Gawd, one of these days you'll realize your unrequited love for me and it'll be too late, I'll have found someone else." she challenged, giggling more to herself. The black clad man just rolled his eyes, folding his arms across his chest. "Sure, Yuffie. I guess I have to fight Cloud for your honor, right?" he boasted, only to see Yuffie turn bright crimson. "He is NOT my boyfriend, Squall! Gawd, how many times do I have to tell you that!?" Yuffie asked, grunting a little bit in her own show of annoyance. |

Along the deserted streets of what once was a highly populated city, a blonde woman walks towards a large building yet can easily feel and sense the fearful eyes that watched her every move. A sadistic smirk forms on her lips as she used her right hand to gently toss her hair back, yet in what seemed to be a blink of an eye, the movement itself unleashed energy rays towards the onlookers terminating their lives indefinitely. “Cowards… that’s what they get for hiding.” Her icy blue eyes slightly narrow upon taking notice of another individual that sat on top of a red convertible sports car. “You’re late…” The soft and cold voice of her brother echoed through the now vacant street. “I’m here, aren’t I? What more do you want? I’m tired of the same game every day, Seventeen. You really need to grow up.” The blonde woman sternly addresses her brother as she crosses her arms under her bust. “I need to grow up? And just what do you call what you just did, dear sis? An act of maturity?” Seventeen snickered upon seeing the look on his sister’s face. “I don’t have to explain my actions to you or anyone else!” Eighteen replied, making Seventeen wonder what had gotten into her all of a sudden. “Something is up, isn’t it? Why are you so defensive? All I did was ask you a question, which of course you don’t have to answer since your actions speak for themselves.” Seventeen smirked and in response to his comment, Eighteen rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Why are we here anyway?” Eighteen asked and noticed that Seventeen appeared to remember something all of a sudden and arched her brow in interest. “It seems like we’ve got some competition.” “That’s what you’re so worried about!? I thought this was important! You almost had me there, Seventeen.” Eighteen dryly joked before shaking her head while Seventeen gaped at his sister’s actions. “Of course it’s important, Eighteen! We can’t allow anyone to come along and rain down on our parade. We’re out here terrorizing these idiots and for what? For some loser to come prancing around here and take over? Not while I’m around.” Eighteen continued to observe her brother wondering if he was serious or not. “Are you even aware of how powerful this person you’re looking for is? What’s wrong? Scared of some competition?” Eighteen continued to taunt her brother, enjoying the fact that she was getting to him. “You know damn well that’s not an issue. If I wanted to I could easily exterminate this nuisance, but what’s the point in that? There’s no fun in it. So here’s what we’ll do…” Seventeen started to inform his sister of his plans and Eighteen could only listen to him yet it was hard for her to refrain from saying any snide remarks. Due to the fact that Eighteen had never seen Seventeen so determined about something, she figured that she could go along with him on this plan, just to see if he was right or not. |

-Midgar, Sector 7- Fenrir roared through the hallowed streets of the worn down city; Its savior atop it, observing the occasional civilian, rushing frantically to find shelter. Overhearing occasional shouts, Cloud knew the fear of another destructive force was rising amidst the population of Midgar. In the distance, an orange hue covered the city emanating from the flames set by the attacker. Thankfully, so far, this particular section seemed the least damaged. Finally, the renovated Seventh Heaven bar was now in sight, and soon the safety of Tifa and the kids would be known. Upon arriving, Cloud burst into the door, only to hear a stray bullet shot fire in his direction, causing him to duck backward. "We're closed! Get the hell outta here!" A gruff voice called out from the darkness off to the side, though before the man could shout again, the stray illumination from the streetlights identified Cloud, allowing the bar defender a sigh of relief. "Barret?" Cloud questioned, removing his sunglasses and heading toward the light switch. "What the hell are you doing? I thought you weren't back from the oil site for another week? Where's Tifa and the kids?" "Jeez, Spiky, you scared the shit outta me..." Barret rubbed his eyes at the sudden rush of light. "I had a break. Came back to visit my little girl... Then all this crap went down. The kids are in their room, jus' fine, but Tifa ran off once she heard about the commotion.. to find you..." Cloud cursed softly, rubbing his forehead in thought. Barret could only shrug helplessly. "I tried to stop her, but.. you know Tifa. I had to stay to watch Marlene, ya know.. What's goin' on out there, anyways?" "I don't know. Sounds like another Sephiroth clone or something.. At least, I can only hope it's just a clone. I'm going to go investigate, and find Tifa. Call Reeve and tell him what's going on if he doesn't already know.." Cloud ordered, heading back for the door, pausing momentarily to look back at Barret once more. "Don't leave here until we know for sure. Take care of the kids." Upon watching Cloud rush out again, Barret sighed, forming his gun-arm back into the robotic hand, proceeding to scratch his head with it. "Yea yea.. When did you get to be the leader again, sheesh..." ---- -Midgar, Upper Sector 4- Silently, a silhouetted figure dashed over the city rooftops, overlooking the remnants of destruction. An area that looked as if it had been previously quite busy was now barren of life. He certainly had been through there. From the look of things, the cause of such was already long gone, and the observer sighed softly to herself for arriving so late. "Such a strange place. I've never seen anything quite like it..." Her thoughts wandered a bit. It certainly was different from Konoha, or any of the other elemental nation cities, but such things weren't important now. She had to find clues to her target's whereabouts. It was then that two figures came into view. With care, the ninja leapt to the next rooftop in order to get a closer look, peering down upon the pair from behind the porcelain mask. The two people seemed to be in conversation, and moderately friendly with each other. The female was in particularly high spirits, despite the nature of their surroundings. It seemed a tad bit unfitting, and upon closer inspection, the male held a rather familiar description. The ANBU agent withdrew her Bingo Book, refreshing the description of her target, as well as overlooking the bust photo enclosed. The man was remarkably similar looking, and he also carried a large blade as expressed by the description. It had to be him. It had to be Genesis... With that thought, the shinobi immediately leapt down from the rooftop, landing silently behind Yuffie. Swiftly she reached into her side pack, pulling out a syringe and expertly injecting a small amount of the tranquilizer into the young girl's neck, knocking her out within a second. It was unfortunate someone else not on the list was involved, but they had to be dealt with nonetheless. It didn't take Squall long to notice Yuffie becoming silent, turning to question her, only to find a silver gleam of an ANBU longsword descending upon him. With a swift reaction, Squall drew the Gunblade, causing the weapons to collide in a small display of sparks. The ninja wasted no time in striking again, giving Squall as little time to block or parry as possible. While the feminine form of his attacker was easily noticeable, the strength she exerted seemed inhuman, and it took nearly everything he had just to keep himself upright after each blow. For a moment, his eyes connected with the light green ones behind the mask, noticing an odd calm about them. This attack was hardly random, but planned and premeditated. Who was this girl, and why was she so eager to kill him? Growling softly, Squall observed the next strike, placing all his strength into a parry, timing the collision of the blades with a pull of the Gunblade trigger, causing a brilliant blast of explosive material between the two fighters, though naturally much closer towards her. Surprised by the unexpected explosion, the ninja flipped backward, but the disorientation caused her to fall onto her back upon landing, her cracked mask shattering at the extra shock. As she looked up at Squall, standing over her with the blade pointed downward, the man raised an eyebrow in return. The ninja who had attacked him was actually a rather beautiful, pink haired girl, who seemed to fit the description of ninja even less than Yuffie, yet her strength and skill had proven otherwise. The girl, now seeing her target much closer, noticed something odd as she looked upon his face. A large scar across his nose, in other words, a very defining facial feature that would have surely been in the description. The chances of this man being Genesis were now mostly none. "Who are you? What did you do to Yuffie?" Squall inquired strongly. "I'm sorry.. I.. confused you with someone else. Your friend is just asleep for the moment..." The girl replied, glancing away, blushing slightly. Somehow, the man reminded her a bit of... Squall hesitated momentarily, wondering whether or not to believe the story, but judging from what he had just seen, if this person was truly still determined to kill him, she would not stop that easily. Sighing, he brought the sword away and extended his hand, helping the girl up. "I suppose I should thank you for giving me a few minutes of peace, then. Mind if I ask just who you thought I was?" She almost didn't hear the question as she bent down to pick up the remnants of her mask. Well, there was no use hiding identities now. The man seemed kind enough, but normally that was not any excuse to suddenly expose mission information. However, something in his eyes told her he could be trusted.. "A man, by the name of Genesis. I believe he's the cause of what happened here. My name is Sakura.. " -- -Karakura Town, Japan- Ichigo idly wandered the inner shopping district of the town, completely lost on where to begin. Once again, Soul Society had a problem and it was his job to fix it. He had to wonder just how they would survive without him. Safe to say, Rukia would have been executed all because of Aizen's deception. Who knows what other countless lives would have been pointlessly lost? That was the deciding factor, of course. Whoever this Genesis person was didn't quite matter if he was intent on hurting innocent people. Slipping his hands into his pockets, the orange haired teen sighed as he observed the lights illuminating the city in a calming glow under the cover of the night sky. People were casually conversing and window shopping, with various sidewalk advertisers trying to coax patrons into stores. Then, off into the distance, an all-too familiar howl echoed throughout the town. Of course, not a single person turned an ear. A normal occurrence around an area with such intense spirit energy, but so few humans who could actually interact with it. Apparently, the spirits had no intention of letting Ichigo quit his day job while on the hunt for an escaped soul. Sighing again, Ichigo began to dash off toward the nexus of the noise, eventually coming across an under-construction warehouse area. In the middle of a clearing between the unfinished, dull buildings, stood a young girl, her eyes wide open in terror as she looked around frantically as if something could be coming from any direction. A chain protruded from a hole in the middle of her chest, identifying her as a lost soul, and the howls still echoing proved a hollow was not too far off, and likely interested in a soul snack. Rushing inward, Ichigo placed his hand on the spirit girl's shoulder, who quickly jumped backward in fright. "D-don't touch me!" The brunette girl screamed. She didn't look older than 14. It was always a shame to see people that had died so young.. "It's okay. I'm here to help.. I'm a Shinigami.." Ichigo attempted to comfort the girl. It was then he remembered he wasn't yet in spirit form. Upon thinking further, he withdrew the new pendant from his pocket which Hitsugaya had given him. If there was any relatively safe time to test this, it was now. Placing the icon to his chest, Ichigo attempted to call out to his Shinigami powers. A swirling blue glow of reiatsu spirit energy formed around him, and once dissipated, left in its place Ichigo in his black Kimono, with his large soul slayer, Zangetsu strapped behind him, wrapped in a bandage. "I can send you to Soul Society... It's where you belong." Before he could act, the howl came again, this time much louder. Then, atop one of the unfinished building frames, a large creature faded into view. Its large, scythe shaped hands gleaming in the moonlight, while its red eyes glowed from behind the humongous white mask. The monster leaped from the steel beams, down toward the ground where Ichigo and the girl stood. Quickly, Ichigo swept her up in his arms and dashed to the side, barely avoiding the Earth shaking landing of the hollow, which turned toward his prey immediately, swinging its bladed appendages with immense force. Ichigo was swift enough to dodge, but there was no ability to counterattack with the girl in his arms. He set her down, assuring her of his return before reaching behind him to retrieve Zangetsu, the bandage unfurling to reveal the half-black, half-silver broadsword. The creature struck again, but Ichigo deflected the blow, swinging back with a few of his own. The hollow attempted to parry, but one particularly quick swing sliced through its left arm, causing it to emit a ear-piercing shriek. Ichigo's eyes narrowed as he took this opportunity to leap into the air, bringing his blade down directly upon the mask, slicing the monster completely in two from the top. Blood flowed from the wound before the creature faded into nothingness. The girl continued to look shocked for a few moments until she realized her savior, and newfound safety. Ichigo approached her once again, smiling warmly. "Time to go, okay?" With that, she nodded, smiling back. Ichigo brought the handle of his sword to her forehead, placing the symbol upon her. Soon after, she was consumed by a white light, eventually traveling off to Soul Society where she belonged. Taking a deep breath, Ichigo looked down at his body, noticing the transition of his powers over his normal body had appeared rather seamless. Still, he had to recall what Hitsugaya said. He had to avoid using Bankai if possible. Hopefully this Genesis person wouldn't be too much of a handful. Of course, there was the whole task of locating him first. "Just how do they expect me to find-" Ichigo began to mutter to himself, turning to leave the area, only to see a man standing at the exit fence in a long red coat, a longsword strapped to his back. It appeared that Genesis had found him first... |

---Midgar Sector 4, Upper plate--- Squall looked at this young shinobi, his eyes still wary of her, but he felt a bit less on edge as she explained a bit more about this man they were hunting... if she truly was fighting for the same cause as she and Yuffie. Yuffie was still conked out, so Squall took it upon himself to try and interrogate this ninja as best he could, as well as learn about this Genesis person. "So, the person who did this is a man named Genesis, huh? Sounds like some kind of crappy J-rocker..." he joked, folding his arms over his chest as he began to pace lightly back and forth. "There's a lot of things I don't understand right now... Sakura was it?" he inquired again, waiting for confirmation of that as he noticed Yuffie groggily sitting up, whimpering a little bit. Kneeling beside the raven haired girl he gently pressed a hand to her left shoulder. "You all right?" he asked, the corner of his right sapphire eye watching Sakura cautiously. "Wh.. what the hell happened..?" Yuffie asked, her eyes going to Sakura as she instantly went to grab for her Shuriken. "You're the freak that attacked me, aren't you!?" she screamed, but Squall grasped her arm somewhat tightly to try and gain her attention. "But, she... she.." "She was mistaken. She thought I was the person who did all of this, but she realizes that she's aware of the fact that we're not the bad guys." Squall explained, while Yuffie continued to grit her teeth as she looked at the other kunoichi, doing her best to keep her emotions in check. Helping Yuffie to her feet, Squall once more turned to Sakura. "This is Yuffie... I think I mentioned that somewhere along where we were fighting, but, I'm not sure." he admitted to Sakura. "And I'm Leon. If we're after the same person, I don't suppose you'd object to the three of us doing some intel together, then?" he offered, reaching out a gloved right hand to the femme-fatale. Yuffie, meanwhile found herself wishing she had an alias she could use for when she didn't fully trust people like Squall did. It made her think of their first meeting over a year ago. Obligatory flashback The country of Wutai that Squall found himself in felt foreign... not only because of how different the culture was but just because he knew his own home was now gone. Gripping the dirt in his hands he sighed as he tried to crawl his way through the forest, hoping to find any form of civilization out there. Garden was gone, now... those monsters, the Heartless, had taken care of that. The blood dripping from Squall's face was the least of his concern as he tried to stay conscious, as the realization that everyone he'd ever known was now dead... he couldn't handle that. He'd failed everyone... no, he couldn't look at it that way... everyone had done their best. SeeD could only do so much against those... monsters. "...Everyone... I'm... sorry..." the young mercenary whispered, wincing in further pain. "Omigawd!!!" came a high pitched scream as someone was suddenly at Squall's side. "You're going to be okay.. stay still..." the voice whispered, sounding heavenly to Squall's ears. "Curaga..." she whispered, placing a pair of gentle hands against his face. "Please, don't die... please... I don't even know your name, so I'm so not being responsible of someone dying." "It's... Leon..." he mused. He couldn't fathom giving her his real name. Squall had been someone who failed to defend the people he cared for." Yuffie sighed a bit as she recalled that moment. At least Squall had gotten to the point where he felt he could be Squall again rather than Leon. But for strangers like this, she figured he was in the right. "So, about this... guy we're after... who is he?" ---Karakura--- Genesis smiled as he lightly traced footsteps around this orange haired young man, studying him. He is guided by hope that the gift will bring bliss, and the oath that he swore to his friends..." Genesis mused. "Part of Loveless, Act III. Are you a fan?" Genesis asked, grinning faintly to himself. "The Gift of the Goddess... it is truly something amazing, is it not? There are many who have tried to understand what it is... but, my answer is right. The gift she offers us is strength. Those with strength are loved by the Goddess... and are sent upon this world to rule, and to make a world where all either have power or..." Genesis trailed off, smiling. "I believe you understand, do you not?" Brushing a brown lock of hair from his face he studied this young man. "You and I are the same, ones of great power. Why not help me make this ideal world? Many would look on you as a monster, would they not?" he asked, folding his hands together as he clasped them together with a content sigh escaping his lips. "Then let us monsters join hands and rule this world that has so wrongly persecuted us." he offered, his hands stretching out to his sides as he looked to Ichigo. "There will always be those like us... why should we be the ones that are different? That we're the ones that are monsters? Do you not see the corruption that lay before us? Let us fight against it... together." |

Boba Fett raced ripped through the vacuum of space, tearing behind his prey's ship, only mere moments away from passing him. Before he had the chance to put the final thrust on, a warning siren blared away in his ears. "What is it?" he demanded, turning off the klaxons with the push of a button. It turned out there were two problems. One: Samus's ship had followed him, and two, an anomalous power reading was emanating from Sordin's cruiser. "What info do you have for me on that fluctuation?" Questioned Fett. He would stay behind the ship for now, in case it was some kind of a weapon. From the levels it was giving off, there was enough power there to vaporize the Slave I and a nearby planetoid. Fett activated the Slave I's short range tractor beam, and as he did, the ship finally had information for him on what the fluctuation was. Anamolly detected is known as Zeta beam. Effects unknown. Technology is hypothetical and assumed to not exist in full capacity These words spread out in front of him on the console below him. "Activate weapon systems, cripple his ship before this thing has a chance to discharge." But, Fett realized as soon as the words left his lips, it was too late. A blinding flash of light, the form of a single straight, tight line rocketed toward him. Immediately, he tried to steer clear, but it followed the course of the tractor beam right to him. The light spread over him, and continued on, down the line through the tractor beam that had just grappled onto Fett's ship toward Samus. Blind, and with the unending sensation of falling, Boba Fett was sure that he had just been killed. He was not terribly horrified at this fact, indeed the only emotion he felt was a grave disappointment. Disappointment that he had been killed by a nothing of a man. Not a warrior or a brave man, but a weak, cowardly scientist. And as he resigned to his fate, sensation returned. Unfortunately it was nothing good. The cockpit was shaking violently, Fett was being tossed around in his seat, and sirens were whirling again. From what his helmet was able to tell him, and strangely that had begun to work again too, he had entered atmosphere somewhere. It was too late to start landing procedures. With a final intense lurch forward, the Slave I crashed into the ground below. The whiplash sent him into a dizzying descent into unconsciousness. [ Gotham, Black Gate Prison ] "So you're still here..." Batman thought to himself, as he peered into the specially designed cell that held Clayface frozen at levels so far below freezing that your finger would snap off within seconds. The caped crusader rubbed his chin silently, his most prominent lead was thus dashed. In the shadows of the poorly illuminated prison hallway, Batman took out the cube that he had found at the bank and spun it between his fingers. It could have been a simple die, if not for the fact that each side had only one dot. As he lifted it up closer to his eyes, he felt his finger press in a small button he had failed to notice before. A bright light emitted from each hole. Momentarily blinded, Batman dropped the cube and stepped backward. After blinking a few times to recover his sight, he looked up and saw the hall had been replaced by an exact replica of a bombed Gotham bank. "A fully three dimensional, photorealistic projection. Impressive." Batman picked up the cube, slid his finger against the button and placed it back in his belt. He was going to have to give this small machine a good look. [ Gotham City, Kahndaq Embassy ] Tim Drake sat atop the apartment complex across the street from the National Embassy for the Middle Eastern country of Kahndaq. Mad Hatter had been systematically abducting foreign diplomats and ambassadors. With very little effort, Robin was able to determine that an ambassador from that country was due in Gotham earlier this same night. His plane was scheduled to land at ten PM. Robin had arrived at 10:30, not expecting anyone to be around for at least the next hour. As such, he was taking the time to eat some dinner, while at the same time keeping an eye on the street. He'd rather be out doing something normal with his newly returned girlfriend, or at the least on a rooftop in costume somewhere with her, but sometimes the job came first. Lost in thought, and eyes fixed on the street below, it was no surprise even the boy wonder jumped in surprise when a voice came from behind him. Dropping his sandwich, Robin looked behind him to see a thin man garbed in a green suit and a small shock of ginger hair visible beneath his question mark emblazoned bowler hat. "What do you want Nygma?" "Ah, such manners. Of course to be expected with a father figure like Batman. I'm here for the same reason as you," he explained, twirling his question mark cane on his finger. "The mayor hired me for this case, you see. He doesn't want to see any more negative press for his city." "Fantastic. But I've got this covered, I really don't need you here," Tim said shortly. He really did not feel like dealing with Riddler. "I would leave, but I gave my word that I would solve this puzzle, and I am a man of my word," Riddler went on. "And besides that I don't get paid until after the job is done." "Well I can do the job for you, and you can take the reward. Isn't that how it works with Batman?" Riddler was quickly beginning to lose his friendly exterior. He visibly twitched, and looked ready to spout out a venomous rant on being taken seriously, but he quickly cooled it. "I am no joke, Boy Wonder," Riddler said coolly. "I have worked hard to gain vindication and a decent reputation in this town, and I do not take kindly to being treated as some kind of arrogant amateur who takes credit that is not due to him. I'm an honest private investigator, which is more than I can say for you." Robin wrinkled his nose at this, a frown forming on his lips, but he did not argue. He had some good points, and right now, what mattered is that the Mad Hatter be stopped. "So, has my old friend Tetch showed up yet?" Nygma questioned. "Negative," Robin sighed. "Nothing at all happening so far," He answered, unsure of how he felt about teaming up with an old foe. An old...annoying foe. |

Both Android 17 and 18 flew over the remains of the last city that they had been 'visiting' and as the two admired their handiwork, Eighteen slightly yawned in boredom and turned to face her brother. “What now? Were you serious about going after this individual that has captured your attention?” Eighteen asked in a teasing tone and immediately Seventeen glared at her as he noticed the smirk on her lips. “Why must you make it sound like that?” Eighteen tried to keep her stoic expression but couldn’t for long and laughed once she saw Seventeen’s enraged facial expression. “Like what?” Eighteen asked, trying to regain her composure, but failing to do so. “Forget it. I’m not going to let you ruin my day.” Seventeen replied and started to descend towards a cliff that would grant him ample view of the land before them. “Lighten up! It was just a joke!” Eighteen shouted after her brother, still laughing about the fact that he had gotten upset with her. It was rare whenever she would joke around with her brother and she was sure that Seventeen knew that as well yet something told Eighteen that maybe she had crossed the line. “Hardly.” Eighteen quickly muttered under her breath knowing that Seventeen would never regret the jokes that he would pull on her at times. As soon as Seventeen saw his sister descending before him, he narrowed his eyes at her and crossed his arms. “What do you want now?” Eighteen merely shrugged and tried to remain as serious as possible. It wasn’t hard for her to do since it was in her nature to be cold and distant. “Nothing. Just waiting for you to say where to next.” Eighteen replied, knowing that her brother loved to pick their next target and of course that would get him in a good mood again. “I think I need to vent, so… how does the amusement park sound like to you?” He asked her and Eighteen slightly arched an eyebrow before smirking and nodding in agreement. “Very well… lead the way.” In the midst of a secluded wooded area, an individual leans against a large oak tree, inhaling the crisp air around her. “Not too far…” Her long raven hair sways back due to the wind brushing against her face. “You can run… but you can’t hide from me.” The young woman smirks at the thrill of the chase which had started not too long ago. Sure it had taken longer than usual, but that’s only because she didn’t want this mission to end so quickly. Tightly clenching her fists, she takes off once more in the direction of where the scent of her prey was leading her. “I need to end this quickly… otherwise I won’t hear the end of it.” Laura whispered as she continued to run yet stopped once she heard a twig snap, which wasn’t caused by her at all. The young woman froze and sniffed the air around her and smirked as she realized that the broken twig was caused by a pair of deer. “No time for distractions.” Laura reminded herself and continued running north feeling great about being so close to her prey. |

---Midgar Sector 4, Upper plate--- Sakura's light green eyes shifted between the tall man and his appropriately irritated cohort. Leon, as he called himself, seemed to have no idea about Genesis, making Sakura the more knowledgeable in this situation, though not by much. Nonetheless, the familiar looking man did appear to be after him as well, likely just for the sake of good nature in order to stop a man from hurting more innocent people. It was commendable, and she could tell just from the way he carried himself, not to mention his fighting ability, that he was no stranger to physical confrontations. As he extended his hand, she glanced at it hesitantly before returning her eyes to his. There was a kindness to them, as well as focus. No doubt he was remarkably similar to another man she knew, even in appearance. Smiling softly, Sakura extended her hand as well, shaking Leon's as she nodded. "I'm sure working together will be in the best interest for all of us." And that seemed to be the truth. Leon looked like he could be trusted, but perhaps that was one of Sakura's flaws. Sometimes trusting someone so easily had caused her or others pain, but if this Genesis really caused all the destruction she had seen so far, she was going to need all the help she could get. Up until now, she had mostly ignored Yuffie, as she really held little importance to the current matter, but seeing as how Leon seemed to regard her as a partner of sorts, going as far as to say the three of them would be doing intel, it would be best to acknowledge the young girl. She had a fairly good question, albeit a generic one. Turning to her, Sakura gave her a look over. Her manner of dress was a bit odd, but from what she could see, this Yuffie girl was also a shinobi. Clearly she wasn't as skilled, however, as she hadn't even noticed Sakura coming just moments before. Then again, some of the most oblivious ninja turned out to be some of the best, and she knew that very well. Sakura opened her mouth in order to speak what she knew of Genesis before another voice interrupted her. "Genesis Rhapsodos, former SOLDIER First Class. Deceased by the hands of Zack Fair..." Cloud approached, slipping his sunglasses off and placing them into his pocket. Sakura turned to see the new arrival, noticing he held a somewhat similar look to Squall, except that his blue eyes seemed to have a strange glow to them. He glanced around, noticing Yuffie and her strange companions. "Glad to see you're making new friends to annoy instead of bothering me all the time, Yuffie." Sakura glanced between the young ninja and the blonde man, easing her tense feelings that this may be the enemy. However, it did sound like he knew the enemy, or at least something about him. As Cloud came closer, he saw Squall and finally was able to deduce his identity. "I've heard about you. Was it your dumb idea to combine a sword and a gun? Two things that sound good on their own don't always make something better when you combine them. Just ask Barret and what everyone thought of his strawberry barbecue sauce." "What do you know about Genesis?" Sakura interrupted, wasting no time. Cloud raised an eyebrow, wondering why this completely new person was already asking him questions, but it didn't matter, he was planning on saying either way. "Shortly after I arrived here, Rufus Shinra informed me of the man behind this attack. Genesis was once a member of SOLDIER at the time of Zack and Sephiroth. Unfortunately, even Rufus couldn't salvage all the information. Someone did a good job of hiding or destroying everything known about him. What he did know.. is that he was an experiment just as Sephiroth was, and that Zack had supposedly killed him. So now I'm going to find him, and finish him so Sephiroth won't have a successor, and so that Zack's death wasn't in vain... If you want to come with, then don't fall behind. Tifa has supposedly been missing since the attack, and I need to make sure she's alright..." With that, Cloud turned back toward his bike, fitting his sunglasses back on before checking his weapon and materia supply. Sakura glanced to Yuffie finally. "Do you.. know him?" -- ---Karakura--- Ichigo blinked as he attempted to comprehend just what the metrosexually dressed man was trying to get across. "Never heard of this.. Loveless or Gift of the Goddess or whatever, but it doesn't really sound like my sort of thing, sorry. Anyways, whatever you're tryin' to offer me, I'm gonna have to pass. Sorry if you were picked on in school or something, but I'm pretty well accepted around here, so I think you've got the wrong impression..." Ichigo smirked a bit. It was true part of himself was.. monstrous, but now that he had that part under control, he could use it to help people, as he did to save Orihime and defeat Aizen. "So basically, all this talking isn't gonna do us much good. I was sorta told you were supposed to be a happy member of Soul Society right now, but you decided not to go. I'm here to say you don't really have much of a choice. There are plenty of 'normal' people that are my friends, and I'll be damned if I let you hurt any of them. We can do this the easy way, where I just send you up there like I just did with that girl.. or I can beat you down and make you... Choose wisely..." Ichigo's eyes narrowed as he tightened his grip upon Zangetsu. He knew what the answer would be. Things were never easy. He could only hope now that this guy wasn't too much for him.. especially if he couldn't bring out his full power... |

The Zeta beam having activated didn't slow Samus's pursuit of Fett. The tractor beam was locked onto Slave I, but it couldn't hold on as the spatial distortion ripped the two ships in opposite directions. Her helmet slammed against the view screen before her, whiplash slamming her right back into the seat as she winced in pain. "D...damnit... keep holding on.." Samus groaned to herself, grasping the controls once more, locking the tractor beam on Slave I again, but the ship was gone from her view as instead she saw a pulsing glow that blinded her. There was no known landing pads coming up under her ship's information, further confusing Samus as both the computer and herself seemed to have been blinded. Gritting her teeth she felt the ship shaking violently amidst all that was happening. Again her head was slammed, this time into the back of her seat as Samus lost consciousness. Her ship registered that with the change in her vitals, and instantly switched to Autopilot as a planet became visible. The Gunship broke atmosphere, doing its best to find a clearing where it could land, but many of the ship's systems were damaged or not functioning correctly as the ship soon hurdled towards earth far too fast, crashing into a forested clearing as it proved to just further add injury to insult as Samus failed to bring her prey in and now found herself unconscious on a foreign planet with a now damaged ship. A few moments later Samus awoke, groaning in pain as she pulled her helmet off. Looking around she sighed, realizing wherever she was wasn't where she should be, which was turning Fett over to the Republic. The ship's lower hatch was being blocked as it hadn't landed properly so Samus opened the top hatch as she climbed out of it there, falling quite literally off the ship's top. Groaning, she did her best to sit up as she looked over the damage. "Ship... initiate repair systems and droids... Chozo armor, disengage." With that Samus found herself clad in her form fitting blue zero suit once more. "Probably better to do some intel in a bit less intimidating outfit." she mused to herself as she stood up and grasped her pistol. --- Squall glanced to Sakura as she explained that working together would benefit them, then the taunting of the oncoming blonde young man. "So this is Cloud. Yuffie's... whatever he is to her." he however merely challenged back with "Was it your bright idea to engineer a sword that was made up of six other swords?" Squall's eyes then cast themselves to Yuffie to see how she reacted to Cloud's further taunting, this time it was at least pointed at her though. "Psh, you know you love me hassling you, and that you're just missing me immensly." Yuffie challeneged before heading over to Cloud and hugging his left arm tightly and smiling at him. "So, Genesis is his name after all huh... This crazy pink haired chick thought Leon was Genesis." Squall shook his head a little bit, rubbing his right hand over his face at the display Yuffie was giving off. "Anyway... you seem to know a lot, Cloud. If this...Zack person killed Genesis, why is he around? And what did he want to eliminate SOLDIER remnants for if he's not going for Shinra himself?" Squall asked, finding his questions more aimed at himself than Cloud who he knew wouldn't have any more detailed information. A lot of people couldn't do the sort of damage that this one man supposedly had... it left a lot to adding up. "Tifa's another one of your friends, right? Let's find her, then.... maybe she'll have found some information since she was around here when it all went down." Yuffie nodded to Squall's assumption, figuring it was a possibility, then glanced to Sakura as she inquired about Cloud. "Oh, Chocobo-head? Yeah, he's a sweetheart. Don't let the mean, cold exterior fool ya!" Yuffie chirped, realizing she'd let her defenses down and sounded polite while talking to Sakura. "Uh... don't think that means I forgive you just cause I was nice to you..." she then added, grunting in annoyance. "Gawd, my neck still hurts from whatever you did..." Yuffie exaggerated, growling in Sakura's general direction. --- Genesis smiled faintly as Ichigo spoke, idly rubbing his chin as he assessed all the boy had to impart to him. "Ah, yes, friends. But, how can you truly assume those friends will not abandon you? If not now, then one day. I had two dear friends once... and even my fellow monsters as they were, they both betrayed me." Genesis explained, his lips curving into a soft pout as he walked a gentle circle around Ichigo. "Friends... lovers... family... there's nothing that can be counted on." he offered, brushing a long strand of brunette hair from his face as he smiled. "I beseech you, understand that I am just trying to make a perfect world... where we won't be second class citizens." Ichigo just shook his head, scratching the back of his orange locks. "You're insane... you just don't get it, do you?" he asked, brandishing his sword now as he tightened his right palm around the hilt. "Just get lost okay? There's no reason for you to be embarrassed." he explained. Genesis however took hold of his sword, grasping it tightly in his right hand as he looked at Ichigo. "Well, guess that's that then...." he challenged, slamming his blade forward in a mighty slash. A crescent shaped blue beam erupted from the blade, Ichigo's Getsuga Tenshou attack. Genesis however just inwardly laughed, slashing his way through the attack as he leapt into the air, bringing his own sword crashing down against Ichigo's. "An interesting attack... further perpetuating that you and I are the same... monsters." with that Genesis erupted a flare spell, injecting it within his blade as he sent Ichigo flying backwards. The Shinigami rebounded in a flip, then quickly ran to the side as he kept his distance from Genesis as he prepared for some form of a counterattack. "Accelerated speed... I doubt it's a haste spell, either. Impressive..." the brunette man thought to himself, finding himself much more impressed. The Shinigami then made his counter, bringing his sword slashing downwards with full force, only for Genesis to grasp the blade in his left palm, smirking. "What the hell are you...?" Ichigo asked, then gritted his teeth as he felt Genesis's sword slicing down his left arm. The cut wasn't deep, but it burned like words couldn't describe. "I told you, friend... I'm the same as you. A monster... and you'll soon learn that you're the same as me." Genesis challenged, slamming the hilt of his sword into Ichigo's stomach and walking backwards. "When you're ready, you can come find me... if not, then I'm afraid you'll just have to fall with those who oppose me." he whispered, his wing spreading as he took to the air, looking down at Ichigo. "Wings of light and dark spread afar, she guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting..." (Had Will's permission to use Ichigo, hope I did fine mang) |

Reaching a nearby hill, X-23 clenches her fists as she realizes that she’s ever so close to her new target. This new assignment seemed unreal to her at first, but she couldn’t turn down the challenge. The thought of being the first one to capture this being seemed exhilarating to her to say the least and even though she had been told not to underestimate her target, X-23 knew that it wasn’t something she couldn’t handle. Then again when was the last time that she hadn’t been successful in a mission? It wasn’t in her nature to fail or deviate from her goal and she wasn’t about to start. “Alright, you big brute, let’s see what the fuss is all about.” X-23 softly muttered under her breath as she maintained hot on his trail. As X-23 continued to move forth, she noticed a figure slumped near a large oak tree. As soon as she approached the figure, X noticed that the figure had stiffen and smirked. “Are you going to keep running or will I have to stop you and bring you in?” X-23 withdrew her claws as she directed her words at none other than the Hulk. "I was wondering when I would be called on for a real mission and you, buddy, look like a good enough challenge." |

Back in the Batcave, Bruce Wayne had removed his cape and cowl and stood above a lab table, the small cube he had taken from the bank dissected and beneath multiple levels of magnification. The technology was advanced, on par with the technical capabilities of The Mad Hatter and the Riddler, but it fit the pattern of neither one. Beside that, Tetch, as he had just learned from Robin, had been busy elsewhere. "I trust it's been a illuminating night, Master Bruce?" came the cool tune of Alfred Pennyworth's voice. "Perhaps," responded Wayne, lifting a chip closer to the lens with a small pair of tweezers. There was something imprinted on it. "Have you ever heard of a company called Aegis?" "Can't say that I have," replied Alfred, who busied himself pressing Batman's cape. "It's a special effects company," Bruce went on to explain, moving from the lab to the computer. "But they went bankrupt several years ago. Why would there be parts from a bankrupt special effects workshop in something like this?" "Perhaps they were on sale at the local outlet mall," quipped Alfred, draping Bruce's cape over the back of the computer chair. "Cute, Alfred, but no. I know that it's a effects workshop for a reason, I just can't remember why..." "After all, it can't simply be from viewing movies." "Of course not, I never have the time to watch any." Alfred raised an eyebrow behind Bruce's back, at the same time he realized he had been insulted. "Point taken, Alfred, I need a normal pastime." After typing in the company name into the Batcomputer, a few results scrolled past the screen, but one stood out. "Quentin Beck." Batman stated, standing up and redonning his cape and cowl. "I beg your pardon?" Alfred questioned. "Alias Mysterio. He's a small time crook based in New York. The only thing distinguishing him from the normal riffraff is his gimmick. He used to work for Aegis before they fired him for being too much of a liability. He must have been stealing their technology for years. What possessed him to come to my city is beyond me. But he'll regret it once I get my hands on him." "So a normal evening, then, sir." ----------------------- "There," Robin stated, and jumped onto his feet, raising his binoculars to his eyes. "The Kahndaq Ambassador is here." Riddler looked up from the magazine he had been perusing, his nose hanging over it curiously. "There's a big guy, probably his bodyguard, and there. Yeah, that's him, Black Adam's favorite diplomat." Robin put the binoculars away and let his cape drape down over his shoulders. "It's been fun, Nygma, but I think this is where I start doing things on my own." He took his grappling hook out from his utility belt and aimed for the adjacent roof. He fired, and as it connected with the building, Robin jumped down, but not before Riddler grabbed at his cape. "Wait!" He shouted, but it was too late, the two toppled over the roof, spinning wildly through the air. "You'll just look threatening go down there alone!" Nygma yelled over the wind whipping past their ears. "You idiot!" Robin shouted, quickly losing his grip on his grapple. The Riddler's pulling on his cape also began to choke his neck. "I'm gonna faaaalll!!" He let out a yell of fear as he toppled toward the ground, but luckily the swing had arched him low enough that when the two detectives hit the ground there was no real damage. Robin groaned in pain as he tried to raise himself off the ground, his cape had landed over his head, and the Riddler had landed under him. With a groan of annoyance and pain, Tim returned to his feet and rushed toward the Kahndaq ambassador. "Sir, I have reason to believe you're in great danger!" He tried to get closer to the diplomat, but the bodyguard extended his arm and held the teen back. "There's a man out there, collecting foreign diplomats, and then making them commit violent crimes. If you've seen anyone strange today, you have to tell me! He could have slipped anything on you, and before you even realize it you'll be out of control." "The ambassador will does not suffer lunatics in capes. Get out of here before I have to hurt you," the bodyguard said, pushing Robin backward. Tim leered at him, but then his vision was drawn to the ambassador who was about to place his hat on his head. "NO!" he screamed, and made his way for the Kahndaqian once more, but the bodyguard literally picked him up and tossed him backward. Tim landed on his back and rolled a few times before he picked himself up. Already the diplomat was making his way to the gates. His hat still hadn't reached his head. "Don't!" he shouted. "Please you have to listen to me, I'm not trying to hurt you. I'm just trying to help. Just look at the hat. There's probably something hidden on the inside, a chip that can send out powerful electrical signals that can literally control a persons actions." "Quite right, quite right. The Mad Hatter's most basic form of mind control," Edward Nygma went on, strolling toward the group, apparently having regained consciousness. He pointed his question mark shaped cane at the bodyguard's chest. "And if you want to keep your job, you won't be such an ignorant buffoon, and you'll let a couple professionals deal with this." He pushed the bodyguard out of the way, and yanked the diplomat's hat out of his hands. "Ah yes, see? Here it urkk!!" before he could continue, the bodyguard had wrapped his massive hands around Riddler's neck and tossed him aside. "I've had quite enough of this. I had heard Gotham City was one of the worst in all of America, but never did I expect such humiliation!" With this, the ambassador angrily shoved his hat over his head, and kept walking. "You idiot, Nygma, we could have eventually reasoned with them!" "These people don't listen to reason, boy wonder, it takes a certain amount of bluntness to get your way. At least now we'll know for sure if Tetch his behind this." The two were then disturbed in their bickering by sounds of a scuffle. Robin turned to see the ambassador snap his cane over his bodyguard's head, and then take off. "Let's follow him!" Riddler shouted, racing past Robin and running down the street. Tim at first went to follow, but then went to check on the bodyguard. Before he could even take two steps, however, a bullet grazed his shoulder. "Do not come any closer!" Tim narrowed his eyes and then went off into the night after Riddler. As he ran, however, the tuner hooked up to the bug he managed to plant on the guard picked up the guard calling for someone to get emperor Adam on the line. "Damn it!" Robin cursed, turning off the tuner and calling the Redbird. They'd need to act quickly...before Black Adam arrived and took justice into his own hands. -------------- In the Slave I, Boba Fett began to stir. The crash had been rough, and his head was still pounding. "Where am I?" he asked, but his helmet and his ship were unable to give him any information. "We can't have gone far. Where are we?" he demanded again. Once more, no answer. He grit his teeth, and stood up. "Is this planet habitable, at the least?" he asked. This time, he was able to get an affirmative. Everything checked out, this planet was completely safe for humans to live on. "We can't be that far, that beam must have fried the positioning system." He checked his armor, making sure all of his ammo was loaded. He did not want to be caught off guard on an unknown planet. "Do I still have a read on the location of our last bounty?" Again he received an affirmative, and a grid appeared on his helmet to help guide him. "Put cloaking on, keep the ship hidden while I take a look around." With that, he exited the Slave I, rifle strapped over his shoulder. When he stepped outside, he found himself in the midst of a wooded area. Everything looked like it could be one of any number of planets within the galaxy. Disoriented, but undaunted, Fett began a hike through the wood, hopefully on his way to some kind of civilization, where he could get some info from the locals, and perhaps find something to repair his ship's sensors. |
