1973 book by Arthur C Clarke, a really great, esoteric story about a group of astronauts sent to investigate a massive asteroid (named Rama), only to find it is actually a 50km by 16km cylinder made by aliens with a whole uninhabited world inside. David Fincher to direct. This guy made an incredible 3D model of it. I am blown away!!!!! check this out!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=UiO8CgGiWPM&feature=related |

For decades scientists used Greek and Roman Gods to name the asteriods. In the book, which takes place in 2100, they ran out of greek and roman characters, so they turned to Hindu and other religions to name them, going alphabetically. By the time they discovered the ship, which they first thought was an asteriod, they were up to Rama. |
