well talk about waking up to a bomb..lol..

wow..today is some ominous day....Sidney Sheldon died...I love his novels..sad

some news....

Pirelli Tyre SpA will once more launch a short film via the Internet to promote its tires.

The second edition, called "Mission Zero," will star Uma Thurman and be directed by Kathryn Bigelow of "Strange Days" and "Point Break" fame.

Thurman was chosen because she "is an actress who best represents the concept of speed and power in the collective mind of the international public," according to the company. But, it adds, her "speed and power will be nothing without control."

She will be driving a fiery Lamborghini Gallardo with PZero tires, speeding through the streets of Los Angeles to escape mysterious assassins who suddenly appear and try to kill her for no apparent reason.

Last year, choosing the Internet as the distribution channel turned out to be a great idea, the company says. In just a few months the movie was accessed from 216 countries and independent territories.

It had more than 5 million film views in less than a year, equal to a share of more than 1.1% of the entire Internet broadband population, according to the Internet World Stats and Nielsen Net Ratings.

I really hope this is either made up or taken out of context, like "I'm thinking about becoming a stay-at-home mom, but..."

I can't imagine her staying away from acting for too long...she seems too creative and restless. Apparently it really has been taking her away from her little ones too much though. Maybe emily was right and she has been depressed lately.

Aaargh. :crying 2 Hope it's just tabloid junk.

Did you guys see the photos on uma-fan of the mission zero press conference? In some of them she doesn't look well, and even a bit sad (to me anyway, perhaps I am projecting, but it seems a spark was missing or something). :thinking1 :(

Anyway here's the link

yeah I agree weapon of choice, she does not look well there. Franky I am dissapointed in all the selling she is doing lately and am not impressed by this tire ad. Why sell out now? I am wondering if she is looking to walk away and wants to make as much money as she can now. It saddens me because she is worth more as an actress than doing so many ads. I wish she would just focus on acting but it seems she may have lost the passion for it in which case she should walk away. I would hate for her career to dwindle down and become a joke. It is better to do nothing than crap movies in my opinion. That being said I have some hope for In Bloom but if she has lost her enthusiasm it is irrelevant. Maybe she should walk away. I also think she is not happy, it is so hard for actresses as they get older and I think she may have become trapped in this way of thinking. If it is healthier for her to stop than I guess she should, but it makes me angry at hollywood for never seeking her out properly and showing her what she can do, I do think she suffers from a lack of ambition and that is a killer in H town. All the best to her. As a fan I would rather she be remembered for her good films that her bad ones.

:thinking1

I was also disappointed when I read this message about her quitting to star in movies because I somehow feel that she still got her best years left to come as an actress. It's also sad because she was one of the very few actresses that I really enjoy to watch on the big screen but hopefully she will return after a couple of years.

yeah but having a make-up contract is one thing for an actress but Uma has done the Tag Heur ads, the Honda ads, Now the Perelli tire campaign and the Virgin Mobile campaign, enough is enough she is strting to appear desperate like she can't get real acting gigs to me it is starting to look greedy and she will lose respect with the acting community if she does too much more of this. They kinda want people to sell themselves discreetly. I am beginning to wonder if Uma really know what she is doing. I say forget about money, go back to indie film and show them your real skills, the Perelli campaign really disgusts me actually as they are trying to make it seem like it is not just a glorified tire ad, and that yellow car is just tacky Cmon Uma where is the classy lady I know, I would prefer her to give up acting and just do charity if nothing else, or at least a clothing designer not frikkin tires! there that is my rant

take it this this way emily..that yellow car is ..like the upmarket equivalent of the p**** wagon....hahhahahahahhah.....also this ad is a short film..so maybe she experimented with another genre..that is...LIVE ACTION SHORT FILM....and in the process got a million dollar deal...smart woman :cheers I dont know why, but lambs. are always colored yellow....lol....

oh and b/w is there somebody...oh well...never mind...

What were you going to say?

In those pics I mentioned earlier, something about her eyes and mouth reminds me of oscar night, when she showed up without andre (when they had broken up but no one knew it yet). I hope she's ok.

About doing so many ads...I don't really have a problem with it as long as she's happy. I get the feeling Uma is just going to be Uma, and do whatever drives her, but maybe she's feeling guilty about it because it's not just about her anymore. I'm not an actress but I have those torn feelings as a mother quite often.
