here u go!

imdb guy review....

I just attended the world premiere of In Bloom at the Toronto International Film Festival. Uma Thurman, Evan Rachel Wood, Eva Amurri, Vadim Perelman, and the screewriter Emil Stern were all there. Uma said a few words before the film began but unfortunatly left during or before the film. At the end of the film during Q & A, Vadim said that Uma left because she wasnt feeling well, which disappointed many people.

The Film was very good, and Uma and Evan were both outstanding. The film starts out with young Diana in high school, smoking a joint in the schools locker room. We get to find out that Diana is a rebellious teenager with lots of issues, and is always getting into trouble at school. The second scene in the movie is the school shooting scene (we only get to see half of it at this point), and although its not too graphic it is very disturbing but very well done and realistic. We jump to 15 years later and see older Diana and what her life is like now with her husband and young daugther and how she copes with the 15 year anniversary of the shooting. The entire movie flip flops from young Diana to older Diana. The movie jumps back to the shooting scene and we see alittle more each time. It is a very thought provoking film. After you see the ending, it will leave you thinking and talking about it for a long time. The only problem i had is that i wanted more, even though its 90 minutes. I wanted another 30. Some of the best scenes are with young diana and her best friend (played by Eva Amurri) and the dialogue between them. Uma Thurman's peformance was phenomenal and very emotional. It is my pick for best actress for Oscars 2008 so far. I cannot wait to see this film again, its one of my favourite Uma performances next to Hysterical Blindness, Pulp Fiction, KB.

In my opinion the movie is 4 to 4.5/5.

I guess I am just dissapointed that Uma was not able to take the opportunity to really promote this film in Toronto. I does not appear she even did any press. Sometimes it seems like she gives up and does not try at all and as her fan that frustrates me. I know she has never been a fan of selling film but she in my opinion she needed to step it up, look glamourous on the red carpet and get noticed. Why doess she always want to be sort of hidden! :thinking1

excellent question...when u do meet her (which I believe u will someday..u deserve it!) or have any other chance to ask her qs...ask her point blank......

...well maybe she had some personal resaons for not attending the press conference...maybe she will do stuff before the wide release...

Yes she must be very sad about Robert so I can't hold that against her, and the truth is I do like how she does not really care about all the publicity crap, but for her sake I have to care for her because unfortunately that is the only way to get noticed and have your films be recognized. I look at the pics for the premier for Naomi's and Charlize's films and they seem to know how to play the game and will most likely in the end be seen as more successful that Uma which annoys me to no end :ph43r:

yeah I love the fact that she does not care about the publicity crap...and unlike other actresses, is not always out there. NW....dont get me wrong....she is beautiful and very good actor...but she is not in the class of NK...so she needs 2 play the game..moreover.....u must remember that NW got her breakout role when she was in her 30s..she was a struggling Australian TV actor for almost a decade..so she needs to play the game ....compared to that Goddess had her breakout role at 18!..LOL...she is way more established than NW....

she does not need to play games...but yes...more constructive publicity is required...so that a good film does not suffer...

CT..always looks like a publicityhound..sorry....the publicity that comes by virtue of her worthless boyfriend is useful for her..and yeah she does know how to play the game....

moreover...success is a very relative term emily....Goddess does not belong to Charlize or NW's school...she is very unconventional compared to them...and most of the time, does not do box-office friendly roles..atleast that does not seem to be her criteria for selecting stuff....

Thanks 2kool!

Yes I am glad too that the board is more lively. But I also thought we would have way more "In Bloom" stuff by now. The truth is I don't care if Uma gets nommed for awards, but I am really wanting her next films to be good solid films. It is okay of they are not brilliant but just not incredibly stupid like MSEG. It sounds like her performance is very emotional which is so exciting for me as that is what I love to see Uma do. Accidental Husband looks like it actually might be cute. Her and Colin were funny in that clip I thought. I also have to admit Colin can do no wrong in my opinion as I adored him in PAP and BJD. Anyway back to "In Bloom" I read another person who said this is a love it or hate it film which is also interesting and will at lease get people talking. Anyway I am sure she did an excellent job and I cannot wait to see it. I think the important reviews will be out tomorrow like Variety and Hollywood Reporter.

On a side note, I can'd decide if Uma seems happy to me or not, In those last candids she seemed okay, but not so much at the Premiere. I wish she did not have such a hard time with things it seems. Anyway found another blog sighting of her, the person seems to appreciate the Uma the right wasy!! :terrific

yeah keep writing! :terrific

hahaha..I like this line....taste seems impeccable (with inexplicable exception of Ethan Hawke)....LOL.. :rotfl

regal appearance..oh yeah....cleared the way for her...I would def obstruct her.... :rotfl :rotfl

yep I agree about films like MSEG....I dont wanna see stuff like that ...and no Luke Wilsons please....God..that guy is such a bad actor..hahaha..looks at the clips of MSEG...u wil realize how bad he is especially in their scenes together..LOL...I dont wanna see her with B-list comic actors ..I dont think there should be any compromise on artistic pedigree...lots of factors go into the making of what u call a 'brilliant' film...its one of the magic moments where everything falls into place ...so yes every film cannot be brilliant, but there could be solid films with minor flaws.....she is just 'a' part of a huge process...she can do nothing if the script is not translated properly on screen....filmmaking is like a building...1 brick is bad..entire house can suffer ...yeah I love CF 2, but am not exactly sure as to how he would fit into the ambience of a flick like TAH..but here's hoping he does...hope we do get full trailers of both and then we can dissect them ....LOL...hahaha....am kidding!!

b/w maybe she should try and play some Henrik Ibsen characters....his most famous play is 'Doll's House' ...perfect screen material...'The Enemy of the People' I think, is a stronger play...but the protagonist is MALE...but can easily be changed to a woman....very adaptable for screen....and its a socially relevant play....and ends with the brilliant catch line.."The strongest man in the world is one who stands ALONE" (translated from Norwegian).... :terrific line...
