I had never heard of this documentary until I saw it had a 93% Tomatometer reading on Friday, so I drove to San Fran and saw it on Saturday. Very good movie. Maybe some of you remember the story 2 years ago about the bear lover and his girlfriend who were eaten in Alaska. Well, this movie has lots of his own footage from his last 5 years in Alaska trying to save and interact...and in some ways become..... a bear. He is a very troubled person who seems like a cross between Johnny Depp in Charlie and the CF, Mr. Rogers, Michael Jackson, a surfer dude and that hyper Crocodile Guy, Steve Irwin. It is a fascinating portrait of a very complex person, his love of bears and how he may have stepped across the line into madness and eventual death. Worth seeing. 8.5/10.0 |
