FRANZ FERDINAND ASKED TO WRITE MUSIC FOR GOBLET OF FIRE? from DanRadcliffe.com, Wed 10/13/2004 17:23 According to NME, the very excellent band Franz Ferdinand has been asked to write music for the next Harry Potter installment. Alex Kapranos, lead singer of Ferdinand said, "We've been asked to write some music. There's a section where there's a band of ugly sisters playing and I think, well… some members of Franz Ferdinand may be the ugly sisters in the band. There's an excitement and innocence about those films. I like how there's good and evil, and that's a clarity which is quite refreshing." NOTE from me: THIS should be interesting. I bet bride will be happy about it. |

Books about "Harry Potter books" are cool I've taken a real liking to books about Harry Potter that aren't actually the books themselves, nor were they written by JK, nor are they about the phenomenon of HP, nor are they analyzations of the books. They're books about HP, explaining how it all works and how that world is observed/explained from another subject/p.o.v. Usually kept in different sections of the book store. I've taken to collecting them. They're great. At first, all you could get were HP apologetics books by pastors/ministers explaining that they weren't about real witchcraft. But now, most churches are over all that, so a wide range of focuses has reached 'the boy who lived'. Below are some examples. If you click on the picture, it's a link to the book's Amazon page: 1. The first one I got. Like I said, basic apologetics. ![]() 2. I like this one. It's kinda like those "meanings in LOTR" books. Just connections you may or may not have made. ![]() 3. I'm reading this one now. It's so interesting. They are actually researched scientific connections proving magic like in HP could work. This guy wrote some other bestseller called 'The Physics of Christmas', too. ![]() 4. I thumbed through this and I'm reading it next. Lots of critics and reviews say it's good. We'll see. ![]() 5. I haven't been able to get this one. Everyone who's read it raves about it and it's always sold out everywhere. I can't wait to read it. ![]() Anyway, just wondered if you all had heard of this and/or if you'd read any of them or picked them up and looked at them in a store or something. |

The only ones I've heard of were the first one and the Science of HP one, which I really want to read. All of them sound so interesting though. I've never actually seen them in a bookstore, though (maybe b/c I haven't actively looked for them. |

Thanks. I didn't even THINK to try eBay. And yeah, the books are VERY difficult to find cause they're all in different sections and none of them are usually in children's. The science one is going to be in the science or math section of the bookstore, usually alphabetical by author. And the one I want is in the Literary Criticism section. Except for recently, when it's been sold out and on back order. LOL. |

eBay sucks. I try to only do Buy It Now b/c there's always those little prick snipers that steal an auction from you at the last second. It pisses me off, especially when it comes to textbooks. I'm going to try the libraries to see if they have these books. With my mom's b-day and Christmas coming up, my money is going towards gifts. |

Well, actually, both of mine were just "Ring" 1 avs, but Samara's Samara, right? Doesn't matter which movie. I can't wait to see the second one. I'm hoping the Grudge can tide me over for awhile till then. I just hope it doesn't suck. LOL. |
