:) I must say I have been out of the Harry Potter loop for a while now. I always get this way when there hasn't been a book or a movie in a while. I'm inspired now to read them again. (well as soon as I have finished my current book!)

I think I prefer Angels and Demons to the Da Vinci Code, personally. Although many people don't!

I have never read the books, but have seen all the movies between 3-10 times each. I am worried that I can't start now, as for me the characters are represented by thier movie actors, not the book characters. I hear that those who read the books don't always like the movie versions and I don't want that to happen to me this far in.

I like the movies, but in their own right. Seperate to the books, not representations of them.

Yep the dvd has been out for a while now! Should be quite cheap to rent as it's not a new release.

I hear that those who read the books don't always like the movie versions and I don't want that to happen to me this far in.

My husband has this problem. I've read each of the books once, but he's read them at least twice (and in some cases 3-4 times), so when we watch the movies I miss a good portion of the dialogue because he is busy complaining about the discrepancies between the films/books. Those things usually don't bother me much unless they violate the basic rules of the "universe" the author has created...I can think of at least one egregious example of that but can't remember if it was at the beginning of the third or fourth movie (when Harry is performing the lumous spell under the covers at the Dursley's). Anyway, KOM, I highly suggest you read them. I saw the first movie before I read the book, but it didn't ruin it for me, I still enjoyed it. Each book gets progressively complex, also, and contains a lot of details that the movies don't. I really love both the movies and books.

yeah films are never as good as the book however are a great source of intrest if you want to read a book but dont know if youll like it. As a rough guide. So KOM if you liked the films then youll like the books even more.

Also i think that seeing the film before the book helps gain a greater knowledge of the book, and so incresing overall enjoyment of it. Also you wont get stuck at any part of the book and think wtf is it talking about cause you can also refer back to the movie.

Hopefully this helps

This is true in most cases. But then as I say I enjoyed the movies seperately to the books. I think a lot of people read a book and then pin a lot on the movie being exactly as the imagine it to be.

I LOVED the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe, everything about the way I had imagined the book just seemed to fit for me.
