Back again with another from the 40k Universe. A Thousand Sons has delivered an exceptional read to all 40k fans. The mysterious legion of sorcerers who dabble and unleash some of the most potent raw psychic energy the Marines have to offer is riddled with a highly imaginative and descriptive storyline. The book describes the events of their part in the Heresy mostly in the eyes of Azek Ahriman, chief Librarian. Where other legions rely on traditional methods of warfare, the Thousand Sons harness the warp with little effort, but their tampering with this unnatural energy has dire consequences to those in the Legion who fail to maintain their control.

Where half the book is dedicated to the flawed history of the Thousand Sons and their mysterious ways, the other is firmly on the greatest Psyker the Imperium will ever know, Magnus the Red, Primarch of the Thousand Sons. His pivotal role during the Heresy events are pieced together and the book never fails to make his powers anything less than godlike.

The very nature of the Thousand Sons and their constant thirst for forbidden knowledge and sorcery puts them in direct confrontation with many within the Imperium and where Magnus has Primarches who tolerate his explorations, there are plenty others who wish to see him undone to whatever end.

9/10 - Great Read, brilliantly imaginative.
