Yes, I was wondering. Any of you consider a character far too perfect to be realistic? With almost no flaws? That's what a Mary Sue stands for, as much as a Gary Stu. I know this applies mainly for fics, but still... Discussion open. |

I've seen MingMing called a Mary Sue before. She certainly has the traits, I suppose, but I don't see her as one myself. I think people would call her one simply because they don't like her. ^^; Kai's becoming increasingly boring, I must say... |

Tyson comes to mind immediately. He didn't start out that way and he still has obvious flaws, but it seems that by mid-G Revolution, everyone ignores them. And despite the karma he inflicted on himself, he still comes out on top and wins anyway? He suffers NO severe consequences akin to his friends? @_@ Maybe it's just his blading that I find Stuish. He's incapable of losing battles with severe consequences. And yeaaah, by G-Rev, I just can't bring myself to care about Kai anymore... by season three he's lost his freshness. |

I was saying Kai is kind-a of a gary-sue >.> and that's why he's so popular. Do I even have to say why? well..yes he's charismatic, handsome, engiment and blah blah blah...but in real life you'd get tired of these kind of poeple, I mostly sure, and eventually I get the idea that he's losing popularity even at season3. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~ Sinneth I really agree with your custom memb line laughs at all the Kai-wannabies with you ^^ |

Kai can't be one,he loses and makes mistakes like Sakura-chan said!Tyson is the one who is almost perfect!! He always wins, and even when he loses he always find a way to come back and win! I still remember that he didn't have much experience on season 1 and he actually won against them all x-x I mean,Max looked way better than him and now he isn't...Kai had a bit beast sooner than Tyson but he won against Kai !! Kai,that has more experience and looks way stronger than Tyson, loses!!! Just because Tyson have that thing of 'the power of friendship' or the thing of believing in himself..xDD Tyson sure looks too perfect,he can do almost anything!!! Mingming isn't a Mary-sue,btw xDD.... |

Brooklyn, I think, is the Mary Sue of Beyblade. All of a sudden he picks up a Beyblade and is unstoppable? He just has a knack at being good at anything. Kai and Takao lose battles, sometimes even rematches (Takao and Ozma? Takao only ever beat Ozma once out of the four or five times they fought?). Brooklyn... loses once, goes crazy over it and all of a sudden has the power to destroy the world, unless he had that the whole time. But either way, Brooklyn is too good to be true. |

The only real person I can think of being a 'Gary-Stu' is Tyson, in my opinion. Yes, he may be the main character and won the major tournaments and talked about 'friendship' being the key to winning, or something along the lines of that. Mary-Sue: Mariah. Most of the boys love her, Ray seems to love her, she seems to be the lovable little sister of the White Tigers. ... Need I say more? Of course, those are my own opinions.
I'm pretty sure he's had that power since he was born. Something of why the kids never beybattled with him, when he was younger. And it has to be something to do with Zeus, stupid as it sounds. If Brooklyn didn't have Zeus, he may not be as good a beyblader that he already is. ^ Again, my own opinion. I could be wrong. Now, back to the topic ... I definitely think Tyson is the Gary-Stu and Mariah is the Mary-Sue. Kai comes close to being a Gary-Stu. He's much too overrated these days ... he just got boring through G Revolution, because it was always the predictable, occasional "lean on the wall, cross your arms and close your eyes" and "hmph". |

I don't think Mao is a Mary-Sue XD The boys can like her, but that doesn't means she is perfect.. *remembers that boys don't go for all the aspects of perfection* I have to agree with GuardianX, Brooklyn is an almost perfect character, if he didn't went crazy and if he had won the battle he would be perfect. Tyson is really far from perfection ^^; He loses, he overreacts (sp?), he isn't very intelligent and he is disgusting when he is eating... |

I'd have to say Brooklyn as well. He was pretty much perfect in every sense, other then when he started to get angry during his battle with Kai. And of course when he went Insane. Tyson, is just a good balanced character overall- he's been through it all as have most the other characters. |

I don't see Takao, Rei, or Kai as Gary Stues at all. Unless in fanfiction, it's scary the kind of Gary-Stuifying one can find o_o . I'm too lazy to explain myself on those three right now though .Brooklyn... in a sense, he is 'perfect', but he's, to me, far from a Gary Stue. Perfection isn't the only thing that makes up a Gary-Stue. Besides, I believe he was made that way for a purpose. To seem... I don't know, ethereal? Like not from this world. Something totally new, mysterious, impossible to figure out and impossible to reach. I guess trying to take the 'human' out of him...? That's what I got. Anyway, Mary-Sues and Gary-Stues are bad, always. Real Mary-Sues and Gary-Stues anyway. A bully is a bully, they're mean and they beat people up for bad reasons. A person beats other people up, but not for stupid reasons, they're not a bully. But they have a definite aspect of a bully. Yes, I know that's not the most prettiest or good example, but I be too lazy to find another explanation. Yes XP . But it's not just being 'flawless' that makes MSs bad, they're the center of attention, they're good at many things that are pointless and thoroughly useless to the plotline, usually just overdoing it. Mostly it's written badly and the other characters aren't portrayed nearly as well as the MS, and in MS stories there tends to be lots of chara-bashing on the author's part against people they don't like. Etc.. The term was Mary-Sue coined to mean a bad thing, not just a general definition or adjective for a more-then-human and conspicuously-talented character, not just 'perfect' but the bad things in a character that is 'perfect'. ...Did that make sense? Oh, I figured this'd just be a para or two... XP . Ali |

Mmm...I agree with Ali&Stephie; I don't think that any of the characters from G-revolution are Mary-Sues or Gary-Stues. They each have their own flaw where as Mary-Sue and Gary-Stue characters have nothing wrong with them. And Tyson most certaintly isn't a Gary-Stue. Sure, he wins alot but he still has some flaws he needs to overcome himself. Ie; learning how to control his temper and controlling his appetite. Haha, kidding. XD! Also, Kai isn't a Gary-Stue. He has flaws and that was proven in his battle against Brooklyn. |
