Terra's eyes fluttered open when Ray pulled her into his arms, "W-what...? Ray, why are you here? Am I dreaming...?"
She shuddered for a moments and choughed painfully before lying still and staring up at him, reaching out a hand to tug at his braid.
"Mesako...I lied...she wouldn't let me leave...I lied to her..." she mumbled the words, then her eyes suddenly widened, "M-Mesako! What did...Mesako, where is she?!"
She was clad in a mere hospital gown, no pockets to be found. She began to panic.
She could take anything but losing her blade.

Hiroku didn't have time to say a word before Eli launched into a hurried explanation and then just ran off again. Staring after him, Hiro wondered what had gotten into him. Eli was never like that; he was Kenny, only cool; he never flipped-out or anything...
Something had been strange, ever since Ri had come - it wasn't bad or anything, but there had been a LOT of drama...and Eli acting like Kenny along with Kai's newfound 'caring' side was enough to make Hiro feel a bit sick. Everyone seemed to have gone crazy; even Terra was falling into the loop.
But he wouldn't blame Ri. It was, in NO way, her fault. If anything, it was the boldness of his sister's captain and the Bladebreaker moody teammember. Everything between Ri and all her trouble seemed to stem at Terra asking her to join the team and Kai acting so...Ugh, he wanted to call it 'motherly' but that just made it wrong on SO MANY levels...
Shaking his head, Hiroku followed Eli as best he could back to the Cafeteria (or at least that was where he thought they were going). He only hoped Ri was okay. He wasn't quite as worried about Remiel's current condition, after all, Remy was pretty tough...although...parasites...

"Kari..." Kai mumbled as he and Rin wraped the long scarf around Ri's thin frame.
She looked all the more pale next to the white fabric.
Rin stood quickly, rushing over to Remiel and checking that he was conscious.
He laughed shakily, "I'm s-s-still...aw-wake..." his voice trembled with every word he spoke; he tried not to lose it, he felt so much like he was spinning; everything was spinning.
"Remy-san..." Rin wiped away the trickle of blood on his chin with her thumb and smoothed back his hair soothingly, "Gauge the pain..."
"I-its not so b-b...bad...Ah! Ah-I-I'm f-fine..." came the response, the cry of pain at the end making Rin jump.
"Ri-chan's already unconscious, Remy-san," Rin told him quietly, "just...try and go towards the light," she managed a weak smile.
Remy laughed, but the laughter turned into violent coughing and a spray of blood dotted Rin's front when Remy regained control, "S-sorry...th...the light i-is r-AH!...rejecting me..."
Rin turned her gaze on Kai and whispered, "Where are Hiro and Eli-san?"
"They're on their way back now, I bet," Kai told her reassuringly but with an air of impassive leadership.
"I hope you're right..."
Kiyah returned with a glass of water and a tall red-haired boy, "Guess who I found on the way back," she handed Kai the water and went to Rin and Remiel, "How are they?"
"Tala?" Kai exclaimed, eyes widening, but he quickly regained composure and went on, "Nice to see you, but it's kind of a...a bad time, if you will..." he tipped a few drops of liquid into Ri's mouth, hoping it would help but unsure how.
"Yes, I noticed the urgency when I entered," Tala commented, eyeing Ri warily, "what on Earth does she have?"
"Parasites," Kai told him bluntly, "Remiel and Kari both have, uh, bioengineered...something-bots that are making them sick; they'll kill them if we don't find a way to stop this."
Tala let out a low whistle, "Wow...that sort of reminds me of the old days...everyone always attacking the Baldebreakers and all...Uh, what're-"
"We've got doctors on the way, go check on Terra," Kai interruppted.
"Right," Tala passed him swiftly, "I need to talk to her anyways. I believe her grandfather is on his way. He called me, in fact, to make sure this wasn't some kind of joke...you know how her sense of humor can get..."
"GO," Kai glared at him, not wanting his former teammate to see his weakness (AKA him flipping out over Ri).
Tala went, and quickly. He headed off to her room, only to hear she'd run off.
Only Terra, he thought, grimacing, but I think I have an idea where she'd be...she's an outdoors kind of girl...and she's not stupid enough to leave the hospital... he turned and headed to the nearest elevator, prepared to go check the roof, which obviously none of her nurses had thought of.
He was actually surprised that Kai wasn't paying more attention to Terra. The two were somewhat borderline rivals, and here Kai was babying some little girl...no, not so little, and not nearly an eyesore...perhaps Kai and this girl...
No, now he was just being stupid.

"Hiroku has your blade!" he quickly reassured her, holding her even closer. The paper gown surely couldn't provide much warmth and it was quite cold on the top of the roof.
"Terra, it's cold up here," he informed her, trying to block as much of her body as possible from the cold. "You need to get back inside. It's not safe up here, either..."
And your grandfather is coming, he added, mentally, not sure if he should or shouldn't mention that.

Eli ran into the cafeteria, and skidded to a halt, panting.
"T-The... Huh... Doctors are... Huh... coming... Huh." the boy eyed Ri and felt his heart sink. Her skin was like bleached bone and the bags under her eyes looked like bruises almost. The prodigy wanted nothing more than to grab a gurney, put her on, and run her to the emergency room, but surely the doctors would be ehre any second.
He grabbed a chair and sat, trying to regain his breathe. Hiroku was leaning against a table, and eyeing him in a calculating way...

Terra felt a wave of relief wash over her and she shighed, more relaxed, "I'm fine, Ray...really..." she had been freezing before, but now he was sort of...wrapped around her and she felt a little better, if not...guilty.
Yes, guilty was the right word.
pauvre ray, je suis un idiot et il est...ici her thought were in a sort of simple french, as she was too tired to think in English, which she usually did, although every now and then a few french words slipped...now she just felt foreign to everything.
"Where's everyone else...? Are they all okay? Where's Re-Ri...Ri-chan?" she asked quietly, eyes half-closed.
She'd wanted to ask where Remiel was, but managed to turn his name into Ri's at the last second.
The door to the roof creaked open and a tall, red-headed boy walked out, padding softly against the cement. His spiked hair was blowing about his head crazuly, and his eyes were fixed on Ray and Terra; it was Tala.
He guessed that Terra hadn't seen him yet, so he kept quiet, wondeing if she was alright. Was that Ray holding her? He had been gone a while...hm...

Phoenicia stood up quickly, her phone vibrating, "I have to go," she left the cafeteria with a calm sort of natural class, not sparing a backwards glance. Obviously, something was going on, but it wasn't quite as big as what was going down with Remiel and Ri.
"Kari...can you hear me?" Kai poked her cheek warily, "I'm here...wake up...stay with me..."
Remiel coughed loudly, a hand covering his mouth; little streams of blood filtered though his fingers. Rin blanched, afraid of what she'd see when he took his hand away. Hiroku put an arm around Remy's shoulders and helped hold him up so he didn't slump in the chair.
A chorus of doctors arrived with haste.
"Thank gdo," Kiyah mumbled.

Rei's heart stopped a few beats. If he told her, he didn't know how Terra would react. She'd probably want to race downstairs to see the girl, but she was still a bit sick, he couldn't let her do that... But what if he didn't tell her...?
Suddenly, the Chinese boy spun around, hearing the soft footsteps. He saw Tala and frowned. Great, one more thing to handle...

Eli frowned, watching Kai from where he sat, him wanting to be the one holding Ri and making sure she was all right.

The doctors suddenly barged in and almost everyone released a collective and thankful sigh. They would be okay, Remy and Ri would be okay... Hopefully...

The light was bright against her lids... She could heard the confusion and the sounds all around her as if they were magnified ten fold, and it made her head feel ready to split. Akari knew she shouldn't be awake... More than anything, she shouldn't even be alive... Should she?

Terra craned her neck to look at Tala and her eyes widened significantly, "T-Tala?" she blinked and bright flush spread across her face.
Tala? Here? Now?! She was wearing just a hospital gown!...come to think of it...oh, Lord, she was half-naked! Her senses were returning and, along with it, her awareness of everything. Bad. She was half-naked and Ray was holding her. Every girl's dream, yes, but...oh, Lord, not just Ray, TALA! She couldn't have HIM seeing her like this! Couldn't have both of them seeing...
Merde! Tala est ici et je n'a pas des vetements! Tala et Ray! Ne vetement pas! Dieu! Mere de Dieu!
She smiled thinly, "Ah, bonjour, Tala..."
He nodded a greeting, "Terra. Ray."
She could tell he had noticed her...lack of appropriate garments. He was choosing to ignore it. Way to go, Tala! She had a feeling, if it had been anyone else, there would've been some sort of joke. Thank god for serious Tala.

The doctors took Remiel and Ri away, Kai and the others watching sadly. There was a pang of guilt in Kai's stomach - he hadn't been able to help Ri. He'd failed her. He closed his eyes and sat down in a chair heavily, resting his head in his hands and sighing.
Hiroku frowned, "They won't be able to help her, you know..."
Kiyah shook her head, "We need you and Eli to do something...or someone else..."
Rin leaned against Hiro, eyes low, "Yeah..."
Kai said nothing, lost in tortured thought.

Rei glared at Tala, mentally wishing the boy away, especially considering Terra was half-naked. There felt like a beast in his chest as he thought of the red-head even looking at her like this, let alone enjoying the sight.
The boy removed his jacket and wrapped it around Terra. "Tala... May I ask why we get to be graced by your presense?" Sarcasm dripped from his voice.
The Chinese boy usually got alone very well with everyone, everyone with the exception of Tala.

Eli watched the doctors go, not wanting to say what he knew must be said. "We may not even be able to do anything. First we'd have to find one of the nanobots, learn to disable it, then locate every nanobot in each of them and destroy it... That could take too long though, and the only other solution I can think of is creating another set of nanobots to attack Balkov's set and destroy them, but..."
The boy shook his head and rubbed his eyes. Fear clawed its way through his chest with so much force, it felt so very difficult to breathe. He didn't want to lose two of his friends... Even if one of them could be considered an enemy sometimes while the other was taken by another man...
He cursed at himself for thinking such stupid thoughts and looked at Hiro. "Hiro, do you have any other bright ideas?"

Tala broke into a broad grin, "It's not enough that I'm here, you have to ask why?" he laughed, "Fine. I have to talk to Terra about the tournament, this year, and its stipulations. Also, I have something important to tell her."
Terra stared out at him blankly, "What...? What is it?"
"Mayhaps, not in front of cat-boy," Tala frowned, "you might, uh, get a bit crazy..."
Terra glared at him and he shrugged, walking right up to them and kneeling down next to her. He leaned in, so that his lips brushed against her ears when he whispered, "Nicholas Darkwood is on his way..."
Terra's pupils shrank to mere dots.

Hiro shrugged his shoulders, "Ideas? No, I was hoping you'd have some...I'm all out."
Rin put a hand on his shoulder, "Think, Hiro Nii-san! For Remy!"
Hiroku closed his eyes wearily, "I'll try...Eli, let's get a room and a dry-erase board or something. We'll brainstorm. Come on."
Kiyah took Rin and set her into a chair gently, "We'll wait for any news. Good luck."
Kai stood there silently, eyes set on the door that the doctors had taken Remiel and Kari through. He felt like he would never see her again. He hated himself for all the 'tough' talk he'd put out, and all the 'cool' fronts. He'd never been straight with her and now she was dying...
He walked over to the table and sat down across from Rin, "They better be able to help her."
"Don't worry, Hiro's really smart," Rin said quickly, "that's why he's on Viera's team! The best....for..." she shook her head, "don't worry, Eli and Hiro can do it together."

The 'cat boy's' glare only grew feircer as he felt Terra tense in his arms.
"Terra, let's get you back inside before you freeze," he coaxed, wanting to get her away from the red-head as quickly as possible.
Damn that Russian bar steward... He mentally cursed, standing and offering the girl his hand.
"Please, before the doctors send the police out to look for their missing patient." His voice was soft and soothing, the way a person would talk to a frightened child or a panicking animal. "Come on... You can get dressed, too."

Eli looked at Kai before leaving, as if saying, You're in charge of her while I'm gone, and if you screw up...
Turning, he followed Hiro.
As soon as they stepped through those doors, he began to speak. "The quickest way I can think of doing this is by sending a computer virus or something into the nanobots... Weaken them temporarily until Balkov can rid their systems of it... It'll give us time to extract them and study their functions... I don't there there's much time left for them, and after... if they die, I'm sure many others will follow..."
The prodigy felt grim, having talked about Akari as if she were already dead. He shuddered at the though.

"Don't baby me, Ray!" Terra exclaimed, jumping up as if she'd been struck, eyes still wild, "Oh god, oh mon dieu, oh merde! Grandfather! Here!" she backed away, shaking, feeling overwhelmingly nauseous, "Tala..."
"He's not going to punish you, Terra," Tala said quietly, "but I think cat-boy is right. We should get you back inside. You look absolutely frozen."
"Non! Je ne peut pas! Grandpere est furieux a moi!" she cried out something in disconnected French, "Je ne peut pas! Je ne...non..."
Tala watched her for a moment from where he'd been standing, then took a few steps closer, "Tu..." he looked thoughtful, "Tu es ne...in trouble pas..." he tried a few words, "c'est bien."
Terra shook, fell to her knees, got back up unsteadily, then edged closer to him. Finally, she fell into his arms - not exactly romantically - and he held her up at arm's length. She glanced over at Ray, then back to Tala, "I can't."
Tala nodded, "nobody will make you..."
Terra's grip tightened on Mesako and she stepped away from Tala, "I'll go."
"Alright," Tala smirked, the closest he could get to a smile, "then let's go. You too, cat boy," he motioned Ray.

Kai nodded furiously as Eli gave him the 'protect Ri' look. Of course he would protect her! He wouldn't let anything happen to her! Not again...not after he'd already let her down, once...
Rin watched Hiroku go wistfully, feeling as though she was close to him again. It was almost like everything bad had never happened...she didn't like it as much as she had, at first. She loved Hiro, no doubt, but he made her feel incompetent. He had a better chance of saving her new friend than she did? What else was new? She sighed and pulled her knees u[ against her chest, defeated.
Kiyah also let out a sigh, putting a hand on Kai's shoulder, "You did your best."
He shrugged it off, but she put it back on firmly, "What, you can be human for Ri, but you can't for anyone else? Feel some emotions besides sorrow, angst and hate."
Kai glared hard at her but didn't pull away a second time. Kiayh smiled a rare smile and whispered, "She'll be alright. Eli's a genius...Hiro, too..."
Kai nodded weakly, yeah."
Footsteps echoed from the hall and the door to the cafeteria burst open, "Where is my grandaughter?!" demanded a chilling voice.
Rin jumped and spilled the water that had been Ri's, Kiyah turned ghostly pale and Kai looked up, startled. Nicholas Darkwood stood in the doorway, face a mask of fury.
"M-M-Mr. Darkwood!" Rin bustled, trembling, "S-sir, we, uh, w-we've been expecting you, s-sir!" he ran over and stood there awkwardly.
Kiyah also went over hastily, "Sir, she's, uh...she's here.........s-somewhere..."
Kai didn't even want to go near Terra's grandfather. He looked so p***ed that it was possible he'd kill them all with his anger.

Rei wanted to strike Tala more than anything, and pummel that sneer off of his Russian face.
Cat boy... Cat boy? Well, two could play at that game... The Chinese boy though as he stalked after them, glaring bloody daggers at Tala's back.
And of course, Terra would calm down for Tala, but not Rei. Rei had been having what felt like anxiety attacks the whole time he waited for her to get better. He was the one who chased after her up 12 flights of stairs, on foot. He had given up his coat for her on the freezing roof... Not that damned Blitzkrieg Boy.
Even in the elevator, Rei was trying to clamp down a lid on his fury, his anger, his... pain.

Eli and Hiroku sat in an unoccupied office of some sort. Eli had gone back to the car to retrieve his laptop moments before and was now sitting, typing away on the internet, looking for anything such related. If only he could find the smallest tid bit of information; anything on nanobots or biological weapons would help at the moment.
"Hiroku... What do you think our best bet is at the moment? I cannot think of anything that would work as fast as the computer virus loaded into the nanobots system... But, we don't have the main code or access to that system... We don't even know if there is a system Balkov has... Each nanobot could have its own frequence... And if it does, we're screwed..." His brain was churning out information, and for once, Eli realized that sometimes a lot of information didn't help a matter... Right now it was only making him feel worse.

It wasn't long before they were back inside, heading towards Terra's room. Tala could tell Ray wanted to kill him; he frankly didn't care. The boy needed to respect for Terra's other friends/aquaintances. She didn't belong to him, after all. He steadied Terra each time she was wavering, but eventually, she even shrugged away from him. He frowned. Five minutes of real life and already she was back to normal; her breakdowns weren't very lengthy, that was for sure...
They reached her room and she wandered in, past the group of nurses, stance full of command even in a hospital gown and a coat, "Get out. Sll of you."
They watched her then filed out, clearly out of a patient. Tala was about to complement her on her attitude when she shoved him and Ray out, slamming the door. He glared at the hard wood then turned his back, irked with her.
"I guess she's changing, huh?" he commented dryly to Ray, "just getting ready to meet Mr. Darkwood, then..."

Hiroku snapped to attention, having been lost in thought, "Sory, yes, you're right...I've just ben thinking, is all..." he paused, "a virus to the nanobots would work. Passwords can be broken, systems can be hacked...but if each is on a different frequency, they must all have some kind of similar program or common element. They all function basically the same way, so we should be able to find one part of their programming to attack...given there's a system to be hacked into..." he took a deep breath, "best we can to is take one out and try to trace it. Maybe we could get a location. Balkov's a pretty evil guy, he'd want to check their progress. He probably has homing signals of some sort in them so he can watch his 'children'."

"I got a phone call about my little girl being in the hospital, Hiwatari!" Nicholas Darkwood said, glaring daggers at Kai's back, "What do you know about this, hm? I know you know something, boy! You always know something!"
Kai turned icily, "Of course I do, Mr. Darkwood, but I think that's Terra's business. Why don't you just go see her instead of questioning me?"
"Because she's being 'treated' as they told me, and you're right here. Although, you might be needing treatment with that cheek you're giving me..."
Kai's eye twitched, "There are three of our, uh, friends here right now, sir. Go see Terra and then I'll tell you what you want to know."

He nearly hissed at him.
"I hope you know what your 'boss' is doing..." snarled Rei, uncharacteristically himself. He knew Terra wasn't only his, but she responded to Tala... Not him... And that stung. "Remiel and Akari are both in the emergency room..."

Eli nodded, removing his glasses and rubbing his eyes. He had such a headache and he longed for a nap, but this must be dealt with now.
"I suggest we remove on of the 'bots from Remy... He's in a much more stable condition than Akari... And most likely going to be taken out of the E.R. first... "

"My boss?" Tala gave Ray a hollow look, "Honestly, cat-boy, don't talk about things you don't understand. It makes you look like an even bigger loser," he crossed his arms and leaned back against the wall next to the door.
Scarcely had Tala been leaning five minutes when the door burst open and Terra stepped out clad in her casual clothes. She looked a lot more like herself; the dark circles were still under her eyes, ever-present, but she seemed more alert and in control.
"Sorry about that, but you looked like you'd just stand there and watch unless I kicked you out," she said to the two with a shrug, "Tala," she turned to him, "you said my grandfather's here."
"Yeah," Tala nodded, "in the cafeteria with the friends you have left."
Terra frowned, "left...?"

"Okay," Hiroku nodded enthusiastically, "I'm all for it. One question: How do we get them out?" he cocked his head to the side, "I didn't bring any tools with me...well, any useful ones in this situation...sheould we just take a blood sample, or do you thik they'd be visible to the naked eye?"

"Terra..." Rei frowned, not sure how to stay it. "Akari and Remiel... They're both, really sick... All thanks to his 'boss'..." the boy said, jerking his head towards Tala. "They're both in ER..."

"A blood sample should have them, whether they're visible to the human eye or not... And if we get nothing, then we'll have to open them up." the boy frowned. "As for equiptment, I'm sure we could send Rin or Kiyah to get something... I'm not leaving the hospital." Eli pulled his glasses off and rubbed his eyes.
