What I want to know is why Max's parents don't seem to live together. Are they divorced? It is it just that Judy's work keeps her in America for a long time?

Yeah, they're divorced.

Oh and regarding looks,

Max has his mother's looks and has his dad's outgoing and lively persona. Its not based on looks alone =).

I moved this, it fits better here.

Traits are passed down based on which trait is dominant over the other, nothing says that Max has to look like his father.  Get into the complicated study of genetics and you'll understand, our DNA contains many traits and its whichever is the most dominant that shows.

For the record...those stupid (not trying to insult anyone here) shows are a waste of time.  Why on Earth - would ANYONE in their right mind, go broadcast their personal problems over national TV?  No wonder some people have no regard for privacy...

Its fine when you wanna move something for someone, but then diss'ing almost everything I say is just......just.....MEAN! I put this post up to be funny and to make a point, not to be serious. Next time you wanna judge someone do it nicer, not everyone is gonna be take it in the face.

(sorry im in a HORRABLE MOOD!!!!)

Sheesh! I'm sorry you're in a bad mood, but I didn't diss anyone. Would you like to point out where I dissed you? All I did was try to explain DNA. And yes, I think that show is dumb, so sue me, I have right to my own opinion. I dissed the show and the people who broadcast their personal problems to the whole world, I never say a thing about you, let alone judge you. I judged you by what? Some people think it's funny, that's fine with me, I'm not throwing you out to the wolves for your opinion. I think it's stupid, and no one's going to change my mind.
Anyways, if you do feel I've insulted you, it wasn't my intention, so I'm sorry.

Ah, so they are divorced! Makes sense now! XD

I wonder why they cut that scene from the English version? Wait... I think it has something to do with how shows are rated here... Divorce is one of those things they put the rating up for o_O

Well Max was depressed when it came to the topic about his mom (First they make you think his mom died then you see her then you notice she's anti-bladebreakers and I-want-your-data and you think "woah, she's against her own son! DIVORCENESS >o<!!").

Though the word "divorce" was never said outright, lots of kids whom I know watch the show (Ages 7+) put two and two together and realized that Max's parents were divorced. =)

This may be slightly off-topic, but I have a few questions about Max's parents, and there seems to be no better thread to bring them up in. My first question was whether his parents were really divorced or just separated, but I guess that's already been answered. It's a bit strange how they cut that though... in the US especially, divorce isn't regarded as that big of a deal just because it's so common. o__o;

There was another thing I noticed though, more recently. Max's dad still seems to like Judy. And maybe even vice versa. In the ending scenes of the world championship episode (ep 30?) in G-rev, there's one brief pic where Romero's hitting on Judy, with hearts flying above his head. In the next scene, Max's dad is going after Romero, looking angry. I thought this was hilarious, and a clear hint that Max's dad still likes his ex-wife. xD (It would be nice if someone actually had screenshots of these though. I could've dreamt these up, who knows?)

There was also a screenshot from one of the Japanese endings that contributes to this idea: http://beygr.altervista.org/cap523.jpg

I had more questions about Judy's sudden change from evil-mom to nice-mom between season 1 and g-rev, but maybe I'll save that for later... this post is long enough as it is. xD

...'Sudden' is 2 years later, and that is more than enough time for any 'changes' to happen.

...And Max's mother was never really 'evil'...not when compared to the characters that were really meant to be 'evil'.

The only reason she had to keep a 'distant' standing from Max in season 1 was so that she could maintain her appearance as a 'professional', but deep inside, she wanted Max to do well. In season 3 Max is on her team so she does not have to 'distance' herself. But there were hints in season 1 of her as a 'nice' mother...the scene where she gives Max a helicopter ride to the lake where the other Bladebreakers were battling Kai comes to mind.

...I don't see Judy as having changed all that much since season 1 anyway.

Okay, now I KNOW that I'm not the only person who noticed that Max looks NOTHING like his father.

He looks like his mother instead, end of story.

Actually, the apparent Max's-dad-still-liking-Judy aspect of G-Rev had me scratching my head too... as far as I could tell, Judy doesn't actually respond back to those actions in a way that looked like they'd be getting back together anytime soon, though if you even BROUGHT UP such a possibility to Max, you know he'd go "EEEEEEEE~!" and ohhh, the chaos to be brought from that...

... makes you really, really wonder what on earth made them break up in the first place. I'm very intrigued because I think SO MANY BULLETS were dodged when they had that dinner together after Max lost his battle with Tyson. I mean, all they talked about in the dub was the stuff Max puts on his food... if that still held true to the original (which I kinda doubt, but), I'd be smelling something fishy. I just... WOULD! As someone who comes from a broken family, I cannot help but be suspicious. XD

As for why the divorce aspect was covered up in the dub, I can only wonder, because divorce IS quite common in the US.... though Beyblade is dubbed by a Canadian company, and I'd be damned to start equivilizing Canadian culture to the culture of the States. Maybe it's different up there...?

Personally, I found Judy's personality between the seasons to be quite notably different. Actually, not even between seasons... as soon as that American Tournament in the first season ended, Judy just suddenly started being all-out giving and squishy-nice to Max, which blew my mind. Even if she is trying to maintain a professional attitude to her team and whatnot, I thought there was absolutely no excuse for her to pretty much leave Max in the dust like that. XD ESPECIALLY since she hasn't seen him in a while and she doesn't get to see him often, I just cannot find any real worthy cause for such negligent behavior. ::snrk:: Of course, I always found one particular scene that could've done a lot of resolving between Judy and Max; I think it was the night before the All-Starz vs The Bladebreakers or so, and they met up on the top of a building or something... and right when they finally were having a heart-to-heart, Tyson came up and outright ruined it. XD

Forcing Max to just whup his mommy's team's butt the very next day! Tough love indeed!

I dunno, as much as Judy amuses me compared to the other Beyblade females... I'm compelled to wonder about her parenting skillz. XD And wonder if maybe, maybe, that factored into the divorce. When Judy made her G-Rev appearence, that just made me wonder even more, because Judy obviously had no problem with just letting Rick serve her son right in front of her face. >3 Seriously, she just stood there and let Max get called a punk...

Wonder what she would've done if she noticed that the entire PPB team was pretty much gang-banging him throughout the first arc of the season. ^_~ Just some food for thought.... doesn't necessarily need to be answered or anything!

I wondered about that too... How Judy just STANDS there while Rick calls Max a punk and etc.

But yeah; it does seem to me that Max's dad and Judy do indeed still like eachother. His dad just happens to show it more.

Poor parenting skills? xD

I would think that Judy would notice her team's behavior to her son, to some extent or another... even though poor Max probably doesn't have the heart to tattletale. Hm.

Oh, and thanks for finding those screenshots, Raging Phoenix Rising. :)
