Name: Dasx Lonlias (Dass-ex Lawn-lee-az)

Nationality: Malkier

Age: 95, appearing to be in his mid-50s

Rank/Occupation: Baijan'm'hael, (Formerly of?) Earth Legion

Appearance: He is 6’0 and 150 lbs. He is much thinner than average, and has a slightly diminished frame, but he is almost pure muscle underneath. He has long legs and a smaller than normal torso, with fairly long arms. He has a mildly tan complexion and fierce blue eyes. His dark brown hair is bushy and untamable, with the hadori being the only attempt to control it.

Personality: He is cold and distant, and often appearing to be without emotion. While he will not be outright rude, he does not waste time with idle small chat. He’ll say what he needs to say and be on his way. He tells things as they are, seeing no point in lying or obscuring the truth. He thinks only in terms of a thing’s practical use, rather than aesthetic beauty. He has little patience for those who are able to fight but choose not to, seeing them as weak and lazy. He does, however, have immense respect for Asha’men, Borderlanders, and Aiel, claiming, “Those born to battle are the most deserving of respect and admiration.” He dedicates himself to the seeking of knowledge, as well as bettering himself as a warrior. As a Malkieri, he is a fierce warrior, cold and calculating in battle, and few have his mastery of the sword.

History: Dasx, son of Desir, son of Farir, comes from one of the oldest and most prominent Houses in Malkier. His father is renowned as one of the most powerful, and yet kindest men in Malkier, and his mother, Serevla, is no different. Dasx’s ancestors fought alongside al’Lan Mandragoran in the Last Battle and because of this were one of founding Houses of Malkier. As such, he was raised knowing his family was important. He is the oldest of 6 siblings, four boys and two girls. He grew up alongside children of the royal family, and even had sword lessons from the King. In the Borderland tradition, he grew up with the knowledge that it was his sworn duty to defend the Blightborder, should the Blight ever become active again. As a young boy, he was like any other in Malkier; hardened, but kind and caring. He also loved books and learning. Over the years, however, he changed. He became cold and emotionless. He saw things only for their practical use. Aesthetic beauty seemed a waste of time, energy, and resources to him. Because of this, many chose not to associate with Dasx, which suited him just fine, since he preferred being alone anyway.

He was identified to have the inborn ability to channel at a very young age. Dasx knew of the respect Asha’men received in Malkier, and was excited about potentially becoming one. While some maintained that he should be sent to the Black Tower immediately, his father refused, saying that he must finish his weapons training first. Desir said “No son of mine will leave Malkier without first mastering the sword. I’ll not have it said that a Lonlias man failed to uphold the high standards of Malkieri swordsmanship.” Thus, Dasx did not leave for the Black Tower until his eighteenth spring, after he had finished his weapons training and possessed his sword for one year.

Upon arriving at the Black Tower, he quickly began developing his abilities. He was, of course, ahead of most other Soldiers in swordsmanship, and he continued training until he was one of the best warriors the Tower had ever seen among the Soldiers. His potential with the Power was no laughing matter either. One of his instructors remarked, “That boy will be one of the greatest Asha’men the Tower has ever seen. I’ll be surprised if he isn’t my superior someday.” After being raised to Dedicated, he continued to impress. His skills were remarkable, and yet, his demeanor caused the other students to shy away, just as his peers had in Malkier. This did not stop Dasx or even bother him in the slightest. He did hit a snag later in his time as Dedicated. He began to lose sight of the goal and wonder why he was there. He started slipping until his weapons instructor, a fellow Borderlander, reminded him why they fight. He redoubled his efforts and went on to pass the test for the Dragon pin with flying colors. He naturally chose the Earth Legion. Also during his time as a Dedicated, he earned the Blademaster title, an unheard of feat at his age.

Once raised to full Asha’man, he continued training, becoming even more adept with weapons and with the Power. Since the Tower was in the process of rebuilding its reputation, there was little fighting to be done. So he trained. When he did deal with Aes Sedai, he began to realize he had refined sensing Saidar abilities. In the Black Tower, he taught classes dealing with weapons instruction and battle tactics, and became well known in the Tower for his skill and his attitude, which still made people wary around him. He would disappear occasionally, without leaving word where he would be or when he would be back. Some of his students whispered that he was roaming the Blight, daring it to become active again.

After the death of the previous Baijan'm'hael in 316, Dasx was overwhelmingly chosen to replace him. He has done well in the position, ensuring that every Asha’man is a weapon far beyond lethal. Despite his aloofness, many in the Tower respect him, and often students are honored to be in his class, although he teaches less now than he once did. He has no family, mostly due to his nature, and he does not see that changing anytime soon.
