Long years out of the memory of even living Aes Sedai and Asha'man, the Last Battle occurred. The Dragon Reborn- some say his name was al'Thor -won, sealing the Dark One back in his prison, saving the world. The world was still in chaos though, the Tower was still split, and Asha'man were still unreasonably feared. Gray sisters from both factions of Aes Sedai tried to reach an agreement, but it proved impossible. Finally, they gave up, and the Salidar sisters went back to Altara and set up a permanent home. They continued to live in the buildings there, but also built new, better ones. There is still no tower in Salidar, just a group of buildings within a much larger, thriving city.

The three factions of channelers squabbled constantly, never able to find any peace, the only good thing was that they were far separated by land. Nearly one hundred years after the Last Battle, the channelers decided it was useless. They minimized their contact with one another, and focused on themselves and the rest of the world. With the Aes Sedai and Asha'man settling, the rest of the world was finally able to as well, returning to their old homes, and for the most part their old boundaries.

The Salidar Aes Sedai found ways to create their own Oath Rod and testing ter'angreal using groups of sisters who had a Talent for creating ter'angreal, and who had experienced each one. Even so, it took quite some time for the White Tower sisters to think of Salidar women as Aes Sedai, and although they do now, a sister from one place will never consider a woman from the other her sister as she does with others from her home.

As time passed, the smaller number of Aes Sedai in the Tower and Salidar led to merges. In Tar Valon, the Yellow and Gray Ajahs merged, taking the name Yellow, but keeping both Ajahs' goals and responsibilities. The Brown and White followed suit, calling themselves Brown. Each merge of Ajahs took the name of the more populated Ajah, that being the only civil way for the sisters to determine the name. The Red and Green Ajahs stayed "pure," but the Red gained power. Finally, they banned Warders of any type in all of the White Tower, and the Green Ajah rebelled. Green sisters left entirely and came to Salidar, where they also found merged Ajahs. Here, the Green and Yellow Ajahs were called Green, and the Gray, Brown, and Yellow were called Gray. The Blue Ajah was the sole unmerged Ajah of Salidar, much like the Red in the White Tower.

The Black Tower did not remain stagnant either; they built their tower as well. Not as tall and grand as the White, but more immediately functional and simplistically beautiful, reflecting its name in its ebony coloring. The Asha'man created their own divisions called Cuen, the Sha'mad Diynen Cue, the Cor Mandarb Cue, and the Har Algai Cue, each with its own purpose. A grand city grew up around the Black Tower, and came to be known as Baleryn, after a particularly influential early M'hael.

For hundreds of years life was good, if not entirely perfect. The Towers and Salidar coexisted, and life was easy for most people. Nothing was prefect forever, though. A small group of dedicated Shadowsworn grew quietly in the background. Not even the most paranoid suspected their existence after the Last Battle however, everyone thought- incorrectly -that they had been wiped out. Even the Whitecloaks believed so, and eventually disbanded into scattered men who hated channelers, though largely concentrated in Amadicia, they no longer had the power or military might they once wielded. Four hundred and fifty years after Tarmon Gaidon, the Darkfriends carefully expanded their reach into each of the three factions of channelers.

For one hundred fifty years, the world has lived in the same relative peace. Even now, no one suspects the existence of Shadowsworn anywhere in the world. They still work hard, but they are a small group, incapable of doing any great harm for the present. The Towers and Salidar are well established, and each holds almost equal sway over the world. Each faction is always trying to gain more power, but none dares threaten the peace that still seems somewhat unstable even after six hundred years. Occasionally news will spread that the factions are arguing more strongly, and there has even been worry of war a few times. It has not come to blows yet though, and everyone wants to keep it that way. On some things, the factions must cooperate, and so there is some travel between the three, but for the most part they stay away from each others' strongholds.
