How to Watch the New Star Trek

Very easy way to watch. There is delayed gratification though.

This is likely to be a 13-14 episode per season series. It is possible it will have more episodes per season, but this seems the way of tv anymore to follow the BBC short season. Even if it is a longer season my way still works.

Simply wait until the season is over and then take membership with CBS AllAccess for a month. This will only cost you $5.99 with ads or 11.99 without ads.

Enjoy watching.

Or just sign up and use the one week free trial. Then just watch all of it and cancel for no charge.

I think it's a mistake for CBS to put this show exclusively on their pay for streaming service. I watched the first episode, meh. It's sort of like the relaunched movies but the plot and backstory doesn't seem very strong. Also the opening seemed more James Bond movie style than Star Trek. Just meh. The Orville is better and free!

Also, is it just me or were the alien races in the old Star Treks more well defined? Something with the recent alien looks in the Star Trek movies/tv shows just seems kind of lame compared to the ones in Next Generation/Original.

I am talking about how to watch the whole series, not just the first two episodes. Your way would work but still have to wait for the series to end for the season. It is also possible CBS will make this and other premium shows unavailable for the free week or only allow one or two episodes to be available for the free week.

This is obviously CBS' inducement to take their pay service. If nobody pays they will stop this game, but if lots of people join this will keep happening to their best shows.

I haven't seen it but besides the show itself, what about the name?

Of course, it all started with STTOS followed by STTNG and the rest

Now. we have 'Star Trek Discovery'... What's THAT all about?

STD? Oh man. Sounds nasty. Use protection, folks.

"What it comes down to is this: With very few changes, 'The Orville' could easily be 'Star Trek.' By contrast, with very few changes, 'Star Trek: Discovery' could easily not be 'Star Trek.'" - PETER DAVID

From Wikipedia: David first began writing Star Trek novels at the request of Pocket Books editor Dave Stern, who was a fan of David's Star Trek comic book work. His Star Trek novels are among those for which he is best known, including Q-in-Law; I, Q; Vendetta; Q-Squared; and Imzadi, one of the best-selling Star Trek novels of all time. He created the ongoing novel series, Star Trek: New Frontier, a spin-off from Star Trek: The Next Generation, with John J. Ordover in 1997.

Crave TV is streaming the ST:D in Canada. Netflix is streaming it other than US and Canada. CBS All Access is streaming in US.

If folks don't avoid it, what if "STD" spreads like wildfire and overtakes the entire franchise - Might we see new takes/reimaginings of old favorites as spinoff tie-ins, like

...ST: Voyeur?

...ST: Deep Space 69?

...ST: The Next Penetration?

...ST: The Search For Sex?

...ST: The Orgasmic Series?
