It was adapted from the 2004 novel of the same name by David Mitchell. With a budget of $100 million, a portion of which came from Warner Bros. Pictures, but most of which was raised from independent sources, Cloud Atlas is the most expensive independent film of all-time. With an ensemble cast to cover the film's multiple storylines, production began in September 2011 at Studio Babelsberg in Germany. The film premiered on September 9, 2012 at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival, where it received a 10-minute standing ovation. I want to see this film about twenty-five more times. Excellent concept, costuming, prosthetics, etc. It is confusing. Maybe after reading the entire book and watching again I'll have a better grip on the entire storyline. It was an emotional experience though. We lack humanity in many ways. We love just as deeply.

I think its the type of movie that needs to be seen several times to be able to absorb it all.
