The can bells clanked and clunked as the doorway to the basement store opened. "This the Slop shop I heard about?" A middle aged man that looked like he'd seen the road for awhile now said while taking off a pair of goggles from his face to reveal a tanline around his eyes as he wiped them. "Well I never." Isaac added momentarily before Abraham walked over and sent him back into the shop. "I'll handle this." Abraham added less offended by the phrasing. "Sure is bub, best eats and non alchoholic drinks in town. What can I do for ya?" Abraham added taking out a small order pad. He could see the guy seemed less interested though as soon as he said 'non alchoholic drinks'. "Oh nothing for me thanks," He said in a tone that suggested 'at least not here' and he knew the guy would be visiting bobos for booze soon enough and didn't care if the food was good. "but there's a thirsty wagon of merchants with a busted wheel up the road a bit." He makes a motion to reach for a bag but pauses to ask. "Do you do payment on delivery?" "Not outside of town to people I don’t know sir. Will you be paying in hides or barter for the delivery?" Abraham asks curiously. The man grumbles something akin to "I suppose I owe em this much~" under his breath while getting a pack out as he takes out a regular hide from amongst some other hides. It seemed like quite a bit of disposable income to be walking around with but that wasn't his business so he ignored it for the moment. "Couple miles up the southern trail cant miss em." He added shouldering his pack again as he prepared to leave. "They got everything they need for repairs? We've got a decent mechanic in town if they need a wheel or something fabricated." Abraham asks curiously from behind the stall as the man opens the door. He pauses just long enough to say "Im sure they'll be fine." with a tone that suggested 'mind your business and I'll mind mine' before putting his goggles back on and going up the stairs. "Ok Isaac lets start packing, I need four one gallon jugs from shelves." Abraham added as he went to get the old shopping cart from the back. "Coming right up sir." Isaac replied as he hooked four jugs by the handles and lifted them before hovering across the way to hand them off to Abraham to place them in the cart for transport. "Keep your eyes out, this could be an ambush." Abraham added to his trusty robot as they stepped up the stairs while carrying the cart between them. Once at the top Abraham went back down and closed the security door and locked it and the main shop door putting a 'Be back soon' sign up under the closed sign before setting out down the southern trail. |

After cutting across the town center and reaching the trail Abraham paused because something felt off. "Sir?" Isaac queried when he couldn't move forward because Abraham wasnt moving his end of the cart. "Sorry Isaac, wait here for a bit. I need to check something." Abraham added as he cut back through town to Bobo's bar. Once he reached the establishment he approached the door from the side and peeked in for a moment. After not seeing the man in goggles he walked in and looked around to make sure he wasn't somewhere out of sight before approaching the bar. "Hey Abe, can I get you something today are you gonna try to sell me something again?" The ghoul added assuming it was the later since Abraham rarely drank at the establishment and occasionally came in to try to move some product. "Neither actually. Did a middle aged guy with goggles come through here a little bit ago?" Abraham added curiously eyeing the shelves behind the counter and noticing a handful missing. "Oh-ho yeah." The ghoul added with a bit of a laugh. "He left with practically all he could carry, didn't even try to haggle or nothing. I made out like a bandit." He added patting the top of a pile of hides underneath the counter. Abraham groans for a moment. "I think that makes two of you… I need to check to make sure before I go around slinging accusations but if you've got someone can you have them tail the guy, at least so I know what direction he went after I get back from this delivery?" "Can I? Sure…" Bobo adds in a 'whats in it for me' tone. With a reluctant tone Abraham responds. "How about we schedule another popcorn night?" Abraham's memories were less then pleasant of the last popcorn night as he remembered the child like tossing of un-popped kernels and drunks picking their teeth. Popcorn night was a relatively fond memory for bobo though, especially since Abraham and Isaac had volunteered to help sweep up after the little made to order co-op night. Nothing said 'another beer' quite like salty popcorn. "One hot and fresh bowl for myself free of charge and you've got a deal." The two shook heads and hands and Bobo whistled at a guy down the bar before making his way over to him. Abraham left the bar and double timed it back to his cart where Isaac waited patiently. "Ok Isaac we need to double time it. Lets move." "Very well sir." The robot added picking up his end of the cart in preparation to take off as his owner arrived and the two went heading down the road. |

After an hour of double time and an hour of walking Abraham began to wonder if this stranded cart was actually out here or if he was walking into some kind of ambush. Thankfully his perseverance paid off when he saw someone sitting atop the sidewall of a slightly listing wagon. Seeing the two approach the guy on the wagon gives a short pronounced whistle as someone peaks his head around a rock before pulling it back and then coming out from around the rock while zipping up his pants. "That's close enough, state your business." the one on the wagon added as he readied a rifle in precaution. Grizzled and rough just like the rifle in his hands this mans attire and mustache made of justice screamed cowboy or maybe rancher. From the bandoleer of ammo over his shoulder to the Jack of clubs playing card in his 10 gallon hat and the big knife in his boot strap. He could only look more the part if he was riding a horse but we all know that probably wont be happening these days unfortunately. "Jumpy bunch aren't they." Isaac retorted. "I assume you're the broken down wagon that ordered a water delivery?" Abraham added in a curious tone. "If not the fates are not kind on this trail and they must be behind us since we didn't see anyone else like this on our way." The guy that had been taking the piss adds as he moseys his way up to the front of the cart. His was more a wastelands style hide suite complete with matching shoes and gloves and a bowler hat with a Jack of diamonds in the strap. The man carries twin pant holstered pistols with a belt full of ammo. The two certainly seemed prepared. "Well then let me verify, you send a middle aged guy in goggles to Bucket town?" Abraham added somewhat sarcastically as he eyed the more serious cowpoke relax some and start watching other directs. Abraham heard a 'moo' from somewhere behind the rock, likely the carts motor tied up. Proabably near their camp and if he had to guess there was probably one person sleeping or at least relaxing due to shifts. "Yup that'd be Heart." He adds for a moment gesturing to the brim of his hat with a tap as if he had missed the symbol. "Im Diamond, that's club and spades resting in the tent." He added approaching the last few steps. "Follow me, i'll show you where to put that." Diamond added leading the two the opposite direction around the big rock and sure enough Abraham was right on the money. A tent, a fire pit and another man sleeping under a tipped sumbrero in the shade, his arms tucked into his pancho to the point if Abraham didn't seen the frame breathing and hear a snore he would have guessed it was a dummy. "I assume heart paid you in advance?" "Only after trying to do a pay on delivery." Abraham added lifting the first jug out and handing it off to him. "Just like him, that joke wouldn't have been funny though if he had gotten away with it this time." Diamond adds taking the jug and setting it next to the tent in a box. "Let me guess, you sent him to town with the wagon purse to negotiate a new wheel or the supplies?" Abraham added with a slight hint of reluctance to grab the second one as Diamond equally as slowly took it in response. "Yeah, but he probably said something in passing when placing the order." I mean there were plenty of reasons a perceptive man could guess that. "Yeah in passing is probably the correct turn of phrase You didn't tell him to buy a bunch of booze and leave town with it~ not back this a way I take it since he's not here." Abraham adds in an appologetic tone knowing full well what had happend. "WHAT'D HE SAY!?" Club added hopping down from the cart and storming over. "Damnit, I told the dealer not to trust that gin soaked bastard Jack but he just has to have four of a kind if he can manage." Diamond adds holding his face for a moment. "ARE YOU TELLING ME HEART BAILED ON OUR WAGON WITH OUR TRAVEL EXPENSES!" Club added picking Abraham up by the scruff of his collar. "Sir please, dont shoot the messenger as it were." Isaac added attempting to calm the man. "He's right~ at least now he'll have less of a head start on you." Abraham added with a gulp. "I also thought the guy was suspicious so I had the bartender put someone on picking up his trail so we can point you in the right direction at least." "Club." Diamond added in a stern tone as he dropped the merchant. "It's not the ideal situation but thanks for looking out. Looks like it's back to three of a kind for the Jack Journeymen." He added with a sigh. "Wait no that wont work, we cant very well give pursuit that well with our shipment here especially now that we're down our traveling expenses." Diamond added in a contemplative tone. "Wait you cant be serious? Your just gonna let that drunk get away with this?" Club added gesturing wildly while spade continued to snooze. "Until we have options that's exactly what I mean and dont you forget who's in charge." "Oh fine leader you are sending heart out alone with our money, I told you to let me or spade go with em but no~~" "Uhm if I can interupt, what are you hauling?" Abraham adds somewhat curiously and the two pull back from their argument and Diamond takes a few paces to the cart and pulls back a tarp. Baskets of Tomato's sat in the cart, some even rolled slightly from the movement of the tarp that was just protecting them from the sun. They glistened like rubies in the sun against the wood and wicker. "We'd heard Callichoke was looking for new produce and thought we'd try to sell some of ours there. Unfortunately now that we're short funds the time it'll take us to either scavenge components or enough money to purchase a new wheel we wont be able to sell these as food anymore." Diamond added knowing it would cut into the profit. "True but even if it goes a little bad you're basically just selling them free compost as well as the seeds at that point so that's something." Abraham added attempting to cheer the guy up. "Huh I guess you're right..." He added with a 'tsk' of his tongue as if still not liking the flavor but tolerating it a bit more. Abraham plucked his mustache for a moment when he came up with an idea. "If you're really looking to preserve these in some capacity to sell as food and seed I have a proposition that might just work." He added looking at the two who didn't look like they were about to dismiss him so he continued. "Well I run a food store but im also the town Food bank and ive got a setup for canning. We load the baskets up between my cart and tie em down to our backs and walk it into town. You guys then decide your course of action on whether to hunt down Heart or just move immediately to getting what you need to get your wagon going once again. While you're doing that, I can prepare these tomatoes for you and keep a small cut for my trouble. Then after a few days to a week when you're done with your business and your carts ready to go i'll have your tomatoes seeded and canned for you to take to Callichoke. How about it?" Abraham adds presenting his hands as if to show off the unseen offer. "It's tempting i'll give you that." Diamond added licking his lips once as Club looked at him as if about to yell at him for not jumping on the offer. "I'll even sweeten the offer since I feel bad for you guys as fellow traveling merchants by refunding the two normal hides heart spent to ship you this purified water and you can keep the water to boot." Abraham added in a tone that suggested this was his final offer, time is limited. "Deal!" Diamond added as he snatched up his hand before he could withdraw the offer. "If this goes well just remember to stop in at A&I food co-op to show your appreciation through some trade in the future. Now, lets figure out how to split up this load!" He added raisin his hand. The two cheered in response and Spade sat up suddenly letting out a slightly more controlled cheer. After explaining what was going on to Mexican Jack the team was in motion unloading the wagon and preparing to take its contents by foot into bucket town. |

It took almost twice as long to get back as it did to get out there because one they were walking the entirety of the return trip but also because they were loaded down with wicker baskets of produce tied on with rope. Thankfully luck was on their side and they made it back to bucket town without incident. After setting down the baskets of tomatoes at the top of the stairwell to the basement Abraham wiped his brow. "Ok just head down that way and you shouldn't be able to miss the bar. Tell Bobo Abraham sent you and he should be able to point you in the direction of Heart. If you need a mechanic or someone to fashion together a wagon wheel, you could try Finn who runs a shop out of a bus at the end of the street over there. Feel free to check in on my progress from time to time while you're handling the repairs. Oh yeah one second be right back~" Abraham adds picking up the first basket as he makes his way downstairs and then balances the produce on an extended knee as he works the key in the door until he can open it. After putting away the basket he returns with the two hides he had been paid with. "As promised, here's what heart paid for the water. Good luck catching him, if I don't hear from you guys for a season i'll assume you died and your portion will be put up for sale." The group looked as if they thought the idea was morbid but practical considering the circumstance. "Thanks for your help Abraham." Diamond added taking the hides gratefully. "Enough jawing, lets hit that bar so we can start hitting heart!" Club adds patting spade on the shoulder as the two of them leave first. "Before you go, do you have any preference on how you want these prepped? You want sliced portions, diced, Sauced? I can do some whole ones without skin too but I wont be getting the seeds from them if I do." Abraham adds curiously. "Im used to selling fresh… Better do a variety, im sure we'll be able to move it all regardless but I imagine there are some people who might want to buy it one way or would pay for the convenience of another. Just label them so I know what we're selling." He adds before turning to catch up to the other Jacks. After taking all the produce downstairs Abraham wipes his brow yet again. "Man am I beat." He adds sitting down on his bedroll and tossing his jacket and boots. "Im gonna get some sleep, lock up and start sorting and checking the tomatoes for tomorrow and then shutdown and recharge. I'll need you in top shape for the big job starting tomorrow." Abraham added while unclasping his belt. "Very well sir, sleep tight." Isaac adds hovering over to lock the door then secure the security door in the fence. As Abraham tried to settle in and relax it seemed that every so often when he closed his eyes something clunked or clanked in the background as Isaac was clearing off some table space. There was a moment of silence but before he could fall asleep a gentle 'whirrrr' was heard as a tentacle extended and gently plucked a tomato and set it on the table with a soft 'tap'. The clicking of optics examining the exterior and then silence again only for the process to repeat itself, several dozen enough times that it became white noise he could fall asleep to after about an hour. |

Abraham woke up in the morning and sat up from his bedroll. Wiping his eyes and grumbling for a moment as he shifted about until finally standing with an extending stretch of his limbs. He decided to take his business outside and returned a few minutes later after attending to a personal project. He poured some water into his wash basin and stripped his shirt before dipping a cloth in the water and rubbing it against his soap. After an initial splash and wipe with his hands of key areas he then proceed to rub them with the soapy rag long enough until he felt satisfied and rinsed. After cleaning his face he dumped the remainder of the water over his head and face to rinse and exclaimed slightly sending droplets of water about the personal area before reaching for a dry towel. Considering he was going to be dealing with tomatoes and assumed he might get some juice or stains and would be working up a sweat once again considering the need for a lot of boiling water he decided to put back on the shirt from yesterday and that he'd wash it tomorrow. "Time to wake up Isaac~..." Abraham added with a pause as he reached the table and saw the tomatoes sorted in varying ways. Mostly by general size and condition but a yellow pile that was obviously not Tomatoes stood out at the end of the table. "Isaac, why are there lemons?" Abraham added strolling over to the slowly activating robot as he waited for the eyestalks to extend. "Pardon me sir, could you repeat that?" Isaac added until noticing he was gesturing to the lemons. "Ah yes, while I was sorting the produce I noticed one of the bushels only had a few tomatoes on the top and the rest was Lemons. Either they didn't know they were carrying them or they just had a few too many tomatoes and decided to pile them up with the other produce. Either way this is very fortunate for us sir." Isaac added enthusiastically. "I'll say, vinegar can often alter the taste and thus we'd have to change recipes when using them to compensate for the flavor." Abraham adds tapping his foot for a moment wondering if he should get permission first to use the lemons but decided not to waste time. Besides if it was important that they remain untouched surely one of the jacks would have said something considering what Abraham would be doing. "Alright Isaac, get to chilling me a bowl of water and i'll start boiling a pot." Abraham added as he went to separate out pots, bowls and utensils for the process as Isaac began to chug noisily. The refrigeration process was power intensive considering that system wasn't fully functional and required some kind of fix that had been beyond Abraham. However the robot had been recharging all night and was fresh so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. After putting a pan on a burner Abraham went to get jugs of water from the storage area and returned to the table as he began to pour it into the pot. He then began to set out cans and lids on a side table for later use next to the sink and even though they were clean he gave them a final careful washing. After rinsing and wiping them down he moved the cans to the pot and sunk them in the gradually heating water along with the lids. He decided he'd do the process in sets that would equate to half the bushel each and each set would be slightly different in variation from one end of the liquid to whole tomato spectrum to the other until he was out of tomatoes. Abraham would turn down the heat once the cans had boiled for about ten minutes but this would be while he was in the midst of prepping the Lemons. After a quick washing he set them out on a plate and knife in hand set to cutting the fruits in half while trying carefully to avoid cutting the seeds themselves. Once opened he began squeezing the seeds out either with a single finger or between his fingers, careful to avoid the occasional squirt that might have gotten in his eye. "If I remember correctly from my produce lectures the nutritionist used to try and teach at the super duper mart, you'll want to rinse those and keep them moist sir." Which was correct because dry lemon seeds were far less likely to germinate. "Is that right?" Abraham prepared a second plate with a wet cloth on it before getting himself a glass of water that he used to dip the seeds in and rub between his fingers until he felt satisfied and then laid them out on the moist cloth. "I've never been on a farm that grows citrus before. Maybe the Jacks can give me some growing tips." Abraham adds excitedly as he moves on to slicing the rind away from the fruit of the lemon and separating them out in a bowl. After about ten Isaac chimed in. "Is there a reason you're peeling them sir?" Abraham looked perplexed. "Well im gonna have you juice em so I thought I should remove the skin." "If that's the case sir you shouldn't worry. My systems can process that and I believe the peel has a much higher concentration of antioxidants and nutrients then the fruit alone." Isaac adds in a matter of fact tone just sitting on the floor conserving power while his cooler function was chilling water inside with a groan. "Well isn't that interesting." Abraham adds simply setting them aside after that point. "You know, I thin I will skin a few more of these if only to have some skins to Candy later." Abraham added reaching across the way to the counter to get his Mutato peeler out for later and set it aside with the rinds he had removed. Signaling Isaac to open his top he began scraping the skinned and unskinned lemons into the open top. After the top closed Isaac could be heard producing grinding sounds internally along with a slight sloshing from the flowing liquid. Abraham went over to the counter and grabbed an empty nuka cola bottle and rinsed the clean bottle out before presenting it to Isaac who placed it in position in its cavity and began to dispense juice. On average, one lemon had 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in it~ a bit more considering they were also juicing most of the rinds. However they needed one tablespoon per pint or two per quart so that was pretty much one lemon for every two cans. And when you consider a bushel of Tomatoes on average is 53 pounds that then made him consider how many tomatoes he needed per state. I mean sure it was about 3 lbs of tomatoes per quart for things like juice or in a crushed, halved or whole state but proper sauces required at least 5 lbs per quart if you're making it thin so 6.5 at least if you want a decent thick sauce... Considering there were well over 200 lbs of tomatoes to be processed, that meant that he needed to do at least 67 lemons if he didn't want to make any sauces. It was gonna be a long and sour day... |

There were ten or so lemons to spare which he left in the basket as their seeds were more easily cared for and transported like that and now he had several bottles of lemon juice but the accomplishment felt disheartening because he knew they wouldn't last. Bowl of cold water and a tank still chilling, check. Pot of hot water ready, check. Tomatoes washed, check. Now that the tomatoes were washed the process began by diping them in boiling water until the skin split which was somewhere under a minture. Next the Tomatoes were removed and diped in cold the cold water. The change in temperature made it incredibly easy to just slip off the skins with a little effort. Next step ws to remove the cores and trim off any bruised or discolored portions before quartering. After removing what seeds he could see in this manner, they would begin to heat one-sixth of the quarters quickly in a large pot. "Isaac, crush." Abraham added as Isaac extended his limb into his body to pull out a mashing hammer and began crushing them as Abraham added the tomatoes to the pots. The tomatoes gushed and squished exuding juice as they continued heating the tomatoes while stirring to prevent burning. Once the tomatoes were boiling Abraham signaled isaac to cease crushing and gradually added the remaining quartered tomatoes, setting the robot now to the task of stirring constantly. These tomatoes will soften with heating and stirring and would not need to be crushed like the rest. Once all the tomatoes for this batch were added they boiled gently for five minutes or so. While the tomatoes cooked Abraham began to fetch the cans from the hot water with a set of tongs and added a tablesppon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of salt for taste. The hot cans were filled immediately with hot tomatoes, leaving about a 1/2-inch headspace. After removing air bubbles and adjusting headspace if needed they wiped the rims of jars with a dampened clean paper towel and the lid was secured and fastened into place. The cans were then placed back into the boiling water and submerged an inch or so before covering the pot with a lid. Once brought to a rolling boil Abraham set a timer and started to watch the processing time as he reduced the heat slightly and boiled the cans gently for the next four minutes. This gave him time to cool off a bit and take a rest but once the cooking time was up so was he. He removed the jars and placed them on an empty rack in the storage area away from heat and away from any draft with enough room for airspace between the cans. Once cooled they would need to test for seal. This was simply done by pressing down on the center of the lid. The lid should be con-caved and not move when pressed. Another method is to tap the lid with the bottom of a teaspoon. If sealed correctly, it will make a high-pitched sound. If it makes a dull sound it means the lid is not sealed or possibly that food is in contact with the underside of the lid. When completely cool, the screw bands were removed for reuse later. From there he simply slapped on a paper label and wrote 'Crushed Tomato' along with the date they were canned and processed under the A&I brand label. That was the first batch down. Only 6 or 7 like it. Maybe a little less if he made sauce which he was certainly considering but strike while the irons hot as it were. No reason to take water off the boil and put it back on later. ~Growl~ Well, maybe with an exception of lunch. This gave him the drive to keep doing a few more batches with the thought of reward on the other side. Besides it was getting hot down here with all the steam so they turned off the burners and opened the door and windows to let the place vent a bit. |

"Watch the shop for me Isaac, im going to Bobo's." Abraham added on his way out with a casual wave as he made his way up the stairwell. "Have a nice trip sir." Isaac added as he set to doing some dishes and light clean up around the kitchen area. As he walked down the street he saw the Jack of spades, or Mexican jack as he called him because of the outfit outside of Finns bus helping the man move bits of stuff around. Obviously already at work manufacturing that new wheel it seemed. Abraham gave a wave in passing as he proceeded to the bar. As he stepped onto the porch he paused and leaned back to look down the way as he saw a couple of figures walking that way, one of them was dragging something... After a few seconds he could easily tell it was Diamond and Club with Heart tied up in tow. "Well fancy seeing you back so soon." Abraham adds leaning on the railing. "I dont know if we were lucky or not he drank himself unconscious the first night making it easy for us to catch up..." Diamond added as club set him down with a final thud. Heart groaned slightly face down in the dirt. "Let me guess, drank quite a few meals from your spending money eh?" Abraham adds in a 'ouch sorry to hear it' like tone. "I wanted to kill him on the spot but Diamond convinced me otherwise." He added with a tone of both irritation but also implying that the man was somehow worth more alive then dead and Abraham wasn't really interested in knowing the why of that. However considering they were heading to Callichoke, the likelihood of them selling him into slavery was a possibility. "Well lets see what we can recover." Diamond added reshouldering the pack Heart had loaded up with bottles and Abraham could hear it clanking from here. "Im not about to bid against him in his establishment, but if he's really refusing a refund or a reasonable exchange I might be willing to trade for some of that." Abraham added with a slight wink as he opened the door with an 'Oh this I gotta see.' look on his face as he watched the two enter the bar with their third in tow. Abraham took a position leaning against the wall near the doorway so he could comment in to the conversation if necessary but was more then willing to just sit back and watch how they handled this. The place went quiet for a moment as the customers watched the two men drag someone in and to the bar. It was obvious that at least some of the regulars would be willing to support their drink ticket if things got out of hand but the rest were probably also looking for a show. "Can I~" Bobo added as Diamond turned around and set the rucksack down on the bar top with a slight clink of glass inside as the contents shifted. ", help you?" He added eyeing the men as he set down a glass under the counter and put the rag in front of him ready to start wiping it down but for the moment giving them the attention they were obviously requesting. "This somofa bitch stole our money and used it to purchase drinks here." Club added hauling heart up by the rope and pushing him into the bar. With a slightly sour look on his face Bobo replied. "Considering you caught him im guessing you two dont need directions to the sheriffs office." He added as if to say 'what do you want?' "Here's whats left, lets talk refund." Diamond added undoing the tie from the rucksack as the bar erupted into laughter from patrons to Bobo alike before returning to its normal lively and rockus self. Club was miffed at this but Diamond remained level and started bartering trying to get back as much as he could of their travel funds. Bobo ended up taking back most of it in the end cause he could still move it but didn't pay them nearly what Heart had purchased them for. Club and Diamond ended up keeping a bottle of Tequila to toast their success and drown their sorrows a bit with Spade. In time Finn and the Jacks had effected proper repair to the wagon and brought it into town where they pulled it up to the church and they finished their transaction before setting back out to Callichoke. |

With his shop now clear Abraham was excited about a deal well struck. To celebrate his honest pay for honest work he decided to make something for fun and the luxery of it. "Isaac, get a pot on the boil." Abraham adds closing the doorway. "It's time to candy us some lemon peels." He said with an excitable grin. "Yes sir." Isaac added puttering behind the wall as it prepared the pans and water as Abraham entered through the security gate and closed it behind him. Abraham hummed to himself as he entered the storage zone and dug out the old bottle of Sincerely sweet tea and the lemon peels he has saved from his tomato canning. He set the peels on the counter next to Isaac. "Cut those into strips for me and put them in the pot once it boils." "I'll get right on that sir. Hmm, lets see whats on the radio…" Isaac adds attempting to tune into the local station to increase the satisfaction of the already upbeat activity. With music the work to the two soon got in a rhythm with their motions as they worked to the beat. Uncapping the bottle of Sincerely sweet tea, Abraham got out another clean and empty bottle and transferred half its contents to the new bottle before recapping it. "No sense wasting all of you." He adds moving back across the room to put the bottle away, as he returned he watched as the robot added the peels to the pot of boiling water. "Looking nice, keep stirring." Abraham added preparing a bowl of cold water to the side along with an empty jug. With a bottle containing some of the remaining lemon juice he had left over from canning abraham was now prepared. "Ok, now put those in the cold water and dump the hot water in the jug." Abraham added with a grin that suggested he had decided to do even more now. "Sir?" Isaac queeried curiously but set to the task of pouring the pot out through a siv to catch the peels before transfering them to the cold water to cool. "Well Isaac as the old adage goes." He added popping the top of the lemon juice. "When life gives you lemons." He added pouring about a spoonful into the jug. This was followed by about an equal dash of sincerely sweet tea as well. "Ah I see, hot lemon-aid. Marvelous." Isaac added apparently excited about the prospect. "Ok, pour that bowl back into the pot and bring them to a boil again." Abraham added as he corked the top of the jug and gave the thing a playful shake while waiting. They needed to boil and cool the peels three times, so Abraham was content to capture the essence from these rinds and enjoy it with a little juice and sugar. Having finally bottled up the three transitions, Abraham added a few cups of water to the pan along with a little glug of the sincerely sweet tea and then set them to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. He then reduced the heat to low and stirred in citrus peels; simmering until the white pith was translucent. "And now to store them." He added with a sense of satisfaction as he transferred the rind into the original bottle of sincerely sweet tea and watched them sink slowy into the syrup like substance. By the time he was finished the bottle was full again thanks to all the rind strips inside and he capped the top. The rinds would be good in their own right but now he had some sugar sauce with lemon flavoring as well which might go good with the right dish. "We should share this." Isaac added in a chipper tone. After taking a sip to ensure the quality Abraham replied. "You're right, not like we have lawn furniture or something to sip on this while watching the clouds." Abraham added with a chuckle imagining such a thing… Yet secretly setting a new life goal for his shop. The two stopped by their fellow businesses, First stopping by upstairs to share with Maria but afterwards going to Ali's to share with Scratch. He'd then visit Trappers place and then go to Bobo's to share with him. Dependent on if he could strike up pleasant conversation, in which case he likely gave out refills if the person was interested this meant he was probably running out before he could visit La Ranchero which was a little disappointing but considering how many people worked there he'd need to make a whole jug just for a visit. Perhaps he'd look into that another day. |

Hey Loth, just junior modding this shit up here. I kinda have to do this fast, so it’s going to be a little stream of consciousness rather than a condensed, concise evaluation. Aight, to start us off, I highly recommend saying your text aloud, because in some places the sentences drags on without a rhythm. The first paragraph was guilty of this. A slight grammatical error: “I’ll handle this.” Abraham added…. Should have slightly different punctuation. If the speech ends firmly, and no description of it occurs after, it ends on a period. So if it was just something like, “I’ll handle this.” Abraham walked up to the door….it would have been fine. Since you did continue on with a connected clause, the speech has to end with a comma, like so, “I’ll handle this,” Abraham added.
-Don’t switch tenses. This happened more than a few times throughout the text. If you throw something into a vernacular or accent or something, it warrants an apostrophe. So shorting “them” would turn it into “ ‘em “, or shortening “because” would make it “ ‘cause “. “Four one gallon jugs” should be “four one-gallon jugs” Alright, at this point, you get it. Watch for punctuation, proper syntax and whatnot. Re-read your stuff aloud to make sure it comes out proper. Mostly I didn’t feel like nitpicking anymore. I felt like you didn’t highlight Heart’s shadiness enough in the beginning. It almost seemed like a precognitive sense and I’m not a big fan of that. I would also be careful with changing the narrative style. Sometimes you write out Abraham’s reasonings behind his actions in a conversational tone, as if he thought those things, but instead you simply write it as narration. Just try to keep those two separate. On a more positive note, I very much appreciate that you do your research on cooking, or that you already have it. It makes the process feel more grounded in reality, and that’s always a good thing. Alright, so it was short, sweet little piece. No glaring issues, really just grammatical things to take care of. Never forget to proofread. Aside from that, I felt like you could have explored your NPCs a little bit more but I’m pretty sure everyone is guilty of that, so don’t worry about it too much yet. There wasn’t any real character development or plot movement here, but I think you made up for it with character exploration, as far as showing him in his daily routine sort o’ deal. Nice work, kid.
