Name: Jonathon Montoya Stats: 4.7.4.7.7.4.7 Race: Human Caucasian(The last name is adopted) Approx age: 18 Personality: Jonathon is a rather laid back fellow, despite his current living conditions. For someone who lives in a world with raiders and monsters and other less then savory house guests out there, Jonathon isn't sitting on the edge of his seat with a hand on a pistol 24/7. He knows that the bad things are out there, but at the same time, he doesn't immediately shoot any little thing that moves. Rather he chooses to ask questions first, then shoot, assessing a situation to figure out if he can get out of it with a solution other then violence. In the old world he probably would've made one hell of a lawyer, now though, law is settled with guns more so then with words. He's quite good at talking his way through problems, though some times he gets a bit too smart for his own good and can get into more trouble. Even then though, he rarely shows signs of fear or distress, he's good at covering it up. None the less, he understands the danger that faces him, and he tries to face every day of it with some sort of smile. Despite that, he also is very sporadic. In the old world they would've told him he had something called Attention Deficit Disorder, now though, no such thing exists. He just can't focus on one task at a time for all too long. As such he is constantly fiddling with things, which isn't all that bad. He's developed a sort of knack for fixing things and figuring out how they work. Of course, in doing so, he's learned a lot about how things don't work. This has made him incredibly good at noticing things like loose wires or sharp edges, the fact that he's cut or burned himself far too many times with his tinkering. Appearace: Pic: ![]() Details: His skin is not as pale as it appears in that image. Due to his constant exposure to the post nuclear war sun he has a slight tan all over his whole body. Like wise, he has several nicks and scars along his arms and his finger are covered in callouses from his constant tinkering. He doesn't even really notice them anymore, they're just a part of who he is at this point. Of course, if someone were to ask him how he got them, he'll make up some sort of story that will leave who ever listens interested in what he has to say, but not feel as if Jonathon is some sort of threat. The glasses he wears are a pair he managed to pick up from a merchant he once met. The lenses are just pieces of glasses carefully cut to fit the frame and he can see just fine without them. He just feels they make him look like more of an intellectual. He's a rather tall individual. Were one to use old world measurements he currently stands at roughly six feet in height. Most people now just say that he's really tall, some have even told Jonathon he's "too damn tall". He's gotten used to being called out for his height and his lankiness. He has some meat on his bones, though at the same time he can't be called bulky. The muscle he uses actively the most is definitely his brain, and maybe his hands. Then there is a matter of his hair. He doesn't exactly care for it, keeping it rather bedraggled as how he woke up with it in the morning. He does however enjoy keeping it somewhat under control and out of his eyes. He tends to hastily cut it himself with bits of sharper scrap metal or a pair of scissors if he can procure one. Hair care is something that is hard to come by in this world. Jonathon also doesn't care much for his attire. Miguel taught him that early on. Some people attempt to try and put some sort of thought into what they look like in the waste, not Jonathon. Typically he just wears something comfortable. He's got a ratty t-shirt that may have had some sort of logo on it, but after years of wear and exposure to the sign, it's faded to an off grey color. He prefers to wear a pair of cargo shorts due to their numerous pockets. Often his pockets are fulled to the brim with screws and small tools and other bits of scrap for him to fiddle around with. Then of course, there's the duster. It belonged to his father and was one of the few things spared in the fire. He wore it draped over his shoulders when Miguel first found him sitting on the outskirts of what was left of the boy's home. At the time it was incredibly large on him but now though, the coat fits the boy comfortably. He doesn't always wear it while working, but when he's walking around town or goes out travelling, he usually wears it as a way of remembering his real family. Starting equipment:Duster Coat, Hatchet, Rudimentary Revolver History: He was born and raised on the wastes. His parents were both merchants, travelling the wastes. Neither parent was part of a particular caravan, they just went from town to town making their trade. It was pure chance the two of them just so happened to stop and try and find some business in the same settlement at the same time. The two hit it off rather quickly and wound up leaving town after their business began to taper off and it was time to move onto the next settlement. After travelling for a time the two became married, or as married as two travelling merchants can be in the waste. There was no ring, no ceremony, however the union was consummated, and that's how Jonathon entered the picture. His parents weren't particularly planning to become parents so early. At the same time though, they weren't the type of people to give up a baby to the wastes, especially their own. However, they realized that perhaps a life on the move wouldn't be the best way to raise a child. The couple chose to settle down in Bucket City, a place they knew was somewhat civilized enough to start a family in this madness. They got a place to live, settled in, and set about raising a child. Eventually his father even got back into his old trade and opened a small trade post out of their home. Of course, all good things don't tend to last long in the wasteland, and this family didn't get to last long. His life took a turn for the worst when he was about 7. Some say it was just an accident, a pilot light left on or a stray spark. Others say it was arson, a jealous merchant tired of the success of Jonathon's parents wanting to get competition out of the picture. No one knows the source for sure, all that's know is that there was a fire and both of Jonathon's parents died. The only reason the boy lived was because his parents had sent him out to run and grab something from a neighbor's home. When he returned, it was already too late, the place was engulfed in flames and the flames were too intense to put out. All that could be done was prevent the fire from spreading the the rest of the town. Jonathon had lost everything he'd held dear in one night. In the days and weeks following his parents death, Jonathon just sort of sat there, distraught. One would think he'd be killed by the wastes on his own, he was just a kid who wasn't able to defend himself in his mourning. However, someone had an eye out for the boy, the town's mechanic. A man by the name of Miguel had been keeping an eye on the boy since the fire, shooing off anyone who tried to get too close. Jonathon's parents had been good to Miguel and this was all he felt he could do in order to return the favor. Eventually, Jonathon began to open up to the man that was looking out for him and Miguel took him in and Jonathon wound up adopting the man's last name. Miguel taught Jonathon some of the tricks of his trade, how to tinker and repair things. He grew interested in tech from the old world, but that is few and far between. For now he tends to not stray far from the city, wandering the street and finding new things to fiddle with, though no one knows what the future could hold for him. Strengths and weaknesses: Jonathon's strengths are those of a curious intellectual. He's good at noticing things, buttons and switches and things that move. He likes to know how things work and works tediously to figure it out, one could call his work ethic stubborn, due to the fact that once he gets going on a project, he's going to get it done. He's also good with words, something he picked up from spending a lot of time with Miguel. The two of them used a lot of sarcasm and wit with one another, something that he has learned to use to his advantage. Of course, there are some people who can see through his lies and word play, but he can typically trick people into believing him. Of course, several of his strengths can also be seen as weakness. His stubbornness can get him into trouble when he gets to obsessed with a task to realize that he's going to wind up hurting himself. His words can sometimes cause someone to become a bit more hostile. Then he has a fear of fire, which is only a logical thing given his past. The thing that took his parent is one of the things he fears most. It's so bad he won't even touch an weapon that involves fire. On occasion customers brought in things like flamers to be repaired by Miguel, the first time it happened Jonathon broke down, every time after that Miguel just worked on items like that alone whenever Jonathon wasn't present. In a fight Jonathon fills more of a support role then a combat role. He's better at talking to his enemy to try and sort things out then anything else. In a close range fight Jonathon is rather useless, he carries a hatchet that, if it came down to it, could be used as a weapon. He uses it more as a tool then for anything else and he has no real training in hand to hand combat. With the pistol however he's a pretty decent shot, despite the usual inaccuracy of a revolver. He's tried to pick up a bigger gun before and use it, but the weight and size of them were too uncomfortable for him and he always found himself coming back to the comfortable size and grip of a revolver, or some other pistol should the need arise. Sure, he'd rather repair a gun then shoot it. Miguel taught him the basics of gun-smithing and he knows how to do some slight repairs to guns with the proper tools. Traits: Good Natured, Chem Resistant, Scatter Brain |

Okay sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this application. It looks pretty darn good for a new person on the site. Before I pass you I'd like to see another paragraph for his appearance section, and a little more in strengths and weaknesses. For strengths and weaknesses I am looking for a little information regarding his combat skills, they come up frequently enough that they need to be included. |
