Personality:
At his core, Gilbert is a man trying to get by in the wasteland, usually by any means at his disposal. He is a survivalist in the sense that he will often put his own well being before others, but rarely is his heart dark enough to commit acts one might label 'evil.' Instead of leaping to save others, he is likely to to save his own skin. While some have seen actions that defy this train of thought, Gilbert generally identifies as a coward and struggles to do the right thing.

In general, Gilbert loves crowds but hates people. His ability to trust has been severely diminished, and his relationships with other people have grown rocky and robotic. He loves being the center of attention with daring stories or his exploits and wily behavior, but in the end it all feels empty and lifeless in the face of all the danger and evil the wasteland has thrown at him. He has grown cynical and sarcastic as a result.

There is an undeniable youth to Gilbert that the wasteland has not been able to take away. Despite showing full bare the dark heart of man, Gilbert's spirit of adventure and excitement have only been beaten back, not destroyed. There is a reserved quiet to him, where there had once been a man of great confidence and gusto. Dreams of a pushy lifestyle and wealth motivate him to pursue dreams that had once upon a time been schemes. Greed and lust for a life not wasted are the only factors that truly drive Gilbert to push himself.

Appearance:
There is little to be surprised about in Gilbert’s build. He borders on average height, at roughly five foot eight, and is surprisingly trim and even a little lanky. Gilbert moves with an unnatural dexterity and balance, he is both graceful and surefooted. He often has slightly tanned to reddish skin, as he doesn’t handle the sunlight as well as some others. One thing that stands out about Gilbert is his somewhat slouched posture, as if there’s a constant weight upon his shoulders.

A thin layer of light, chestnut brown hair rests atop Gilbert’s head. His beard is much fuller and covers the entirety of his lower face and upper lip; it is full, yet not very long as he tries to keep it trimmed throughout his wasteland trips. Gilbert often smells of stale sweat, for water has better uses than bathing. He is a man who puts comfort before luxury and often dresses simply and lightly in the wasteland. Gilbert keeps up his hygiene while in towns and often dresses in much nicer clothing, if it is available.

Some could say that Gilbert is an attractive man. His body, while not strong, is built in a ‘v’ from waist to shoulders. He has high, well-formed cheekbones and a confidently set jawline. His eyes sparkle with a hazy grey-blue color, and Gilbert’s smile is genuine and lighthearted. He only knows English and handful of Spanish and Tribal greetings and words, but he speaks clearly and simply.

Story:
The history of Gilbert Rose can be traced back to a riverboat deckhand on the Mississippi River. This boat ferried folk back and forth from a few different riverside settlements, along with trade goods and food from each village. Michael Rose was an accomplished sailor on this ship, and when the captain passed on, he was given charge of the ship. Due to increasing pressure from hostile raider and bandit camps, Michael departed south.

They rode the tides of the river south into Arkansas, where Michael met a local doctor and settled down with her. He gave the captainship over to his deckboss and began running things from behind the scenes. Gilbert was born three years later, but financial concerns and fighting caused his parents to split when he was only six. Michael's boat had sunk in mysterious circumstances and left him with no income. He took to working as a sharecropper on a Joint State farm, but after a few months his wife split and left him with Gilbert.

Life was never easy for Gilbert, as he was tall and gawky growing up. He had little heart for farm work and was a notorious slacker, as he preferred playing games and reading to actually applying himself. Gilbert made friends fairly easily and his childhood and young adult years were enjoyable, but over time he came to understand the sharecropper farms were no place for him. At the age of eighteen, Gilbert left home with a traveling troupe of mummers and actors. They performed various plays in small town pubs and Gilbert really opened up in an acting role. His natural agility and grace came into play and he also did acrobatic tricks such as backflips to entertain crowds between acts.

He enjoyed his time as a traveling actor, but he called it quits when he met and settled down with a shopkeeper’s daughter. They had a happy year together; Gilbert didn't have to pay for the sex anymore and she got to have a guy that was too gay to objectify her stunning beauty. It wasn't a fun time for Gilbert and shortly after the thrill of settling down and banging a chick wore off, he was looking for a way out. Gilbert helped out on scavenging runs by picking old world locks and navigating ruins and spent more and more time avoiding the woman due to her gross appearance that she had stopped keeping up since they starting doing the dirty. The relationship was never meant to be, though, and by Gilbert’s twenty fourth birthday, they had split. He remained in town for a time, assisting in the scouring of local ruins. It was also discovered that he had been raiding the town’s food stocks and had stolen a number of salvaged whiskey bottles from the town’s stores. Gilbert, now named a thief, was exiled from town and began making his way west.

It was foolish to ignore natural talents, and Gilbert found himself slinking through the wastes in the role of a burglar and thief. His pride hurt for a time, but he found himself growing in talent as a thief. In hard times, he would put his old skills of mummery to the test, performing either card tricks or shows involving light science to wow ignorant audiences out of room and board. He continued heading west, part of him searching for a place to belong, but in reality searching for a way to make money. He has little interest in a long personal relationship and sees himself as too young to settle down. Just a few weeks ago, Gilbert arrived in the great state of Texas.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
The most notable thing about Gilbert, is his natural athleticism. He is quick on his feet, lighting fast, and incredibly graceful. His sneak skill benefits the most from this, and his time working as a thief has also given him a talent with lockpicking. Gilbert is a natural people person and also excels in speech and barter as well. In the past, Gilbert has worked with computers and electronic systems, proving to be rather savvy at handling them. He also has a decent understanding of explosives. When it comes to combat, Gilbert is better at fighting unseen rather than engaging in open fire fights or brawls. He prefers automatics or semi-automatics, either energy or ballistic based weapons.

There are several areas that Gilbert is less than skilled in. He lacks the upper body strength to be a threat fighting with melee weapons or his fists. He also struggles with Big Guns for the same reason. Another skill that Gilbert lacks, is surviving in the wasteland. Much of his time has been spent in the sheltered communities of the wasteland, and he lacks a hunting and foraging skills to be of any use keeping a group alive. He similarly has no experience with robotics, medicine, or repairing his gear. Gilbert is not a man of violence, and his combat skills and his rather twitchy behavior in firefights makes him an unreliable fighter at best. Is also unsatisfyingly small in the pants and quick in bed.

Traits:
- Small Frame (Light on his feet, but not very large. Increased sneaking/speed but less carry weight.)
- Automatic Man (Realistically better with semi-auto to automatic weaponry. Simple)
- Good Natured (While he has weapon preferences, Gilbert isn't much of a fighter. He does possess many other skills though.)

Rough Leather Postman Armor (Tier 2):
Made out of rough, uncured brahmin leather, this armor appears to have seen very little action, making it almost mint condition. It’s heavily stitched with an ugly pale orange-brown color and carries a brand of the Joint State Postal Service on the right breast. Comes with matching arm and shin guards. Gilbert often addresses himself under a fake name when wearing this uniform, unless he knows he will be recognized by another.

Junkie Disguise - A simple monkey suit that makes Gilbert look more like a lowlife con then a notable thief or person of importance.

Type 57 Machinepistol(GC Tier 2) - This post-war contraption, modeled after the cheap Chinese machinepistols of the pre-war era, fires the All-American 10mm ammunition and loads 10 round clips. The actual pistol has seen better days, but it is equipped with a rechargeable laser sight that is solar powered.

Stun Grenade - Simple, post-war grenades. Gilbert uses these to make a quick get-away and generally to avoid conflict. x1

Map of The Stint
You managed to snag this pamphlet (with a handy enough map!) of the Stint during your tour with Konstantin. It is a couple of hundred years old so naturally the floor plan might've had some atomic remodeling in the years since. It also doesn't seem to have any info on the safe itself as well.

Map and rulers - It a map of the south eastern United States and parts of Mexico with the Caribbean ocean as the main focus. The rulers assist in locating exact points on the map using longitude and latitude. Which is helpful should you ever need to locate a set of coordinates.

Unionist Red Dye - Yep its red.

Prewar Suitcase - Its a fine leather suitcase with a mechanical lock. You can set the lock for whatever you want, right now its on 000. The brown case has a tarnished name plate underneath the tattered handle. It reads Dr W Aster, a minor prewar scientist that you've never heard of. According to obscure rumors, he was a brilliant man ahead of his time that met an early end when a lab accident scattered his remains across time and space.

Radar Data - This is a real oddity, inside one of the suitcase pouches is a manila folder. The folder contains several pages papercliped together, which are print outs of bulk radar data. It would take a serious academic mind to decipher what the printout is showing but there does appear to be some data immediately useful for you. One of the pages has the next months weather forecast, so at a minimum you'll have a leg up on those raiders that don't know its about to rain

Mission Log + World Status:

Ever Silent in The Night - Gilbert Rose stalks the abandoned flat lands of south central Texas in hopes of stumbling on some sort of civilization. He finds a wounded pair of hunters taking refuge in the ruins of a barn and proceeds to rob them of their salvage while they sleep. The next morning he arrives in a small town and trades their gear for supplies to travel northward.

Across the Desert - Gilbert hits the road and ponders many thoughts before nearly falling victim to a mutated lizard.

What a Difference a Day Makes - Gilbert travels north to Mosko, where he moonlights as a bartender for a man named Wesley. One night while exploring the ruins of the town's casino, he is shanghaied into attending a meeting of sinners at the local brothel. He accompanies the town's insane leader to the meeting and bears witness to many acts of murder. After the meeting, he is taken prisoner and locked within his room in the casino.

They're Hanging Us Tonight - An abandoned RP with ArmedSammy. Gilbert escapes The Stint Casino and is spotted leaving the minefield by a member of the resistance to Konstantin. He is carted out of town with escapees before running into a group of bounty hunters including one Laura Musil. Gilbert is nearly forced to lead an expedition into the heart of the Stint, but tensions between the groups causes them to go their separate ways and he travels to Bucket Town.

Heartbreak Hotel - As part of a scavenging run, Gilbert heads south to a ruin plagued by sandstorms to secure vital tech. Unfortunately, his scavving party is run down by hostile protectrons. Many of the party die and it is revealed that the expedition leader is up to no good in these ruins.

Toothpicks and Gemstones - Gilbert tries to relax in the Boneyard after some harrowing adventures in Mosko and the Fairfield Ruins. A gang of Zee addicts assaults him outside a soupshop in the Boneyard and he interferes in their plans as a result. He successfully finds a drug stash out in the desert, but leaves the owner to die by the gang's hands. Afterward he is found by a mysterious man with a dossier on Gilbert, who asks him to travel south to Stan's Bull. Gilbert stabs a man to death for the first time and never fully stops to address how he feels about the issue. He later has trouble sleeping.

Now Here's Aster With The Weather - Gilbert masquerades as a weather scientist in Bucket Town and uses this knowledge to extort money from caravanars and hunters traveling in the area. His dark deeds come back to haunt him and a bounty is place on his head. Segues into... [Coming Soon]
