![]() Name: Eduard Padilla Special: S-7 P-3 E-9 C-6 I-4 A-9 L-2 7 Strength: Eduard is by no means a heavyweight when it comes to physical strength; but as a former athlete, his days spent training led him to gaining a healthy and toned physique. 3 Perception: Eduard isn’t the most aware person, his days of heaving substance abuse and lack of environmental experience meant that he never learned how to really open his ears and listen for audible hints, or distinguish shadows in the dark, while not totally blind and deaf, he’s generally not the most aware person. 9 Endurance: When it comes to pure endurance, stamina and physical presence, Eduard stands out. His childhood and upbringing have led him to developing a very high stamina and the ability to use very little energy for long periods of time. The cardio regimen of a fút player combined with his relatively high pain threshold makes him a considerably tough opponent. 6 Charisma: Being a former athlete, Eduard hasn’t really had to talk his way out of too many situations, he can pass by with a few winks or bribes, but other than the standard bribe or a good excuse, Eduard is about as charismatic as any other man. 4 Intelligence: Having started an athletic career at an early age, Eduard hasn’t received much schooling, or rather has chosen to avoid what was offered to him at the time in order to pursue other opportunities. When it comes to arithmetic, or how things work, Eduard usually relies on others for assistance, he certainly isn’t dumb, but the wasteland standard, but doesn’t exactly shine in the category of brainpower either. 9 Agility: To play fút, you have to be fast, elusive and dexterous, and Eduard excels. He’s slim, toned and can get from point A to B very quickly. A natural athlete, Eduard is more than capable of getting around things, over things and past people, whether by sprinting, jumping or climbing, Eduard has spent a good portion of his life training to be the best he can be in such a field. 2 Luck: Eduard’s life has been less than fortunate. As a hopeful ambitious child and up and coming athlete, fate had never smiled upon him, his efforts of getting a place in a professional team, his numerous problems with addictions and constant sport-related injuries have always plagued his life, things tend to go quite awry around him. Personality: Eduard is the closest thing to a sportsman the wastes has to offer. He’s competitive, motivated and is an extremely hard worker. Padilla’s a fierce competitor, and really puts his all into everything he does, he’s not the type of person you see giving up, and is usually the one motivating the others around him. Having to fight all his life to stay competitive, to prove to others he can hold his own however, has made him quite rash, often obsessing over the result, and over reacting when things don’t go his way. He’s quick to assign blame and discipline others for not pulling their weight. He’s always been keen on proving himself to others, and lives for the chase and the fight, he has no problem standing up for people, or himself. Eduard’s past has been riddled with hardships, and the bitter truths that life isn’t fair, many events in his life often leading to him getting the shorter end of the bargain. Because of this, Eduard has always been very spiteful, and angry at his situation, life, and his past choices, decisions and results in general, he’s grown resentful of how things in his past never worked his way and he has never been able to forgive himself for his hardships. He feels like the world owes him something that it has always bestowed on others. He feels that he has always worked just as hard, no, harder than the “natural talents” around him yet has never been recognized, he wants recognition, he wants, deserves, some outcome, and it has never come. It has left him with a fragile hole in his mental state, one he doesn’t know he can fix. Now that his competitive days are over, Eduard takes much of this attitude and acts the same in everyday life, never being able to overcome the past, always bitter, and while he is actively seeking peace of mind, and something to help him look past his endured problems, they’re always a lingering thought in the back of his head. He want’s to start anew, wants to find a new meaning, a new call in what he stands for and believes in, but he has much to learn. Age: 35 Years Old Appearance: At thirty-five, Eduard still manages to pull off a quite energetic look. The first word that would probably come to your mind when seeing Eduard would most likely be angular. High, extrusive cheekbones, a well defined rigid chin and wide, yet pointy nose give Eduard a very youthful look, he lacks the common characteristics of the typical sunken-in faces you’d see in the wasteland, and gives of a rather healthy, energetic appearance, his eyes, still managing to give off a glimpse of vigor. Padilla tries to keep as clean cut as possible, his short curly hair usually no more than a few millimeters long. He lacks any sort of facial hair, but his dark, black-Latino skin rather gives off a shiny, healthy look. Stature-wise, Eduard is fit, quite fit, showing noticeable muscle mass in both his shoulders, arms and legs, and while it gives him a quite appealing, healthy appearance, he doesn’t have enough to give him any sort of imposing bulk, but rather a slim but toned swimmer’s appearance, with wide shoulders and a narrow waist. The simple clothing he wears only helps in furthering his appearance, the wide neckline of his thin tanktop giving him a visible shoulder mass and his high, athletic shorts showing off his accumulated thigh muscles. Overall, he looks healthy, slim yet subtly appealing. Clothing: Summer Sportswear (Tier 1 Desert Clothing): Not having to really worry about sunburns or cold weather, Eduard wears clothing made for the warmer climate of the gulf. Usually, Eduard can be seen sporting a faded bright green tanktop, adorned with the logo of an old athletic company and a few layers of sweat, the garment serves more as a social barrier than anything else, with a wide neck and lack of sleeves offering very little protection. He wears a pair of dirty black athletic running shorts in the high-cutoff style typical of an athlete you’d see in an ancient newspaper or movie. He lacks any sort of additional layering on top, but with the warm climate he’s adjusted to, not much else is needed. On his feet, are his most prized possessions, a pair of worn in black tennis shoes, their gum soles still in very good condition. Equipment: Homemade Laser Pistol: This little contraption is nothing more than a regular metal flare pistol that somebody realized had a large enough tube to fit several lenses and a beam emitter. It’s crude, has no iron sights and inconveniently has the energy cell in front of the trigger guard. However, it is quite compact, and can fire quite a large, albeit inaccurate plasma beam due to the nature of the large barrel. Chems: Buffout (x1/2 Bottle) Afterburner Gum (x1 Pack) Currency: 1x Medium Hide Miscellaneous Items: Gym Bag: Comically small, this pill shaped gym bag is made of a dirty, worn grey nylon with small, red handles. Made to be small and light, it can barely fit more than a few personal possessions. Character Story: During the War, Central America hadn’t fared much better compared to North America or Europe; America’s aggressive pushes into many of the Latin countries during the 2050’s meant there were many US bases scattered along various small countries. This meant that many bombs hit there as well. When the bombs were dropped and the world stood still; many traditions were lost, people’s histories, their past and their present were all wiped away. One thing that wasn’t lost was sport. Eduard Padilla was born into a small family on the Mexico-Guatemala border on a warm summer afternoon thirty-five years ago. His family, Colombian refugees fleeing the bombed out, crime-filled ruins of Bogota eventually settled somewhere in central Mexico, with hopes of establishing a living that would make it possible for them to prosper. From an early age, Eduard had always been very athletic, and interested in sports and health. Even with nuclear genocide, Mexico had always kept its traditions of following soccer, and even in the wastes, fút, as it was called had remained a staple of everyday life. As a child, Eduard started his career in fút from a very young age, sneaking out to play with the neighborhood kids in the outskirts of Guadalajara every night. He would play day and night, ignoring his family duties, losing many childhood jobs and getting in plenty of trouble in order to play the sport he loved, he was determined he’d make it his life. He trained daily, trying to hone his skills and make it to the big leagues, always keeping his dream in view. By the age of sixteen, Padilla was starting to play for amateur club teams all around central Mexico, these small gangs of boys, organized fierce, competitive matches with neighboring settlements in a rough league system. Eduard had always been a fierce competitor, playing the role of a central attacker and helping to lead his team into the fray. He played with these amateur clubs for many years, hoping one of the larger teams, groups founded in larger cities like Nuevo Veracruz or Chihua (or Nuevo Chihuahua), would notice him. Padilla was a tough attacker, quick on the ball and hard in the tackle, but very average when it came to his footwork and ball skills. By the age of twenty-five, he hadn’t received the call, and with his local teams growing, it didn’t look like there was a place for him in Guadalajara. With nowhere else to go, and no backup plan, Eduard set out to try and find a new place northwards. He had no other skills, he couldn’t apply for a mechanic’s job by taking a freekick; his entire life he had devoted himself to a skill that wasn’t taking him anywhere. Still he kept his dream in front of him, determined to make it work, no matter the cost or the effort, he was always trying to get better. By twenty-eight, Eduard was playing for a semi-professional club nestled in the ruins of post-war Monterrey, his fút career was starting to stall. His passion, his sole desire to make it to the big leagues had led him only to disappointment. He was getting old; the career of a fút player in the wastes was much shorter than it used to be in the old days and the day-to-day life of hard tackles, broken bones and fights at every turn were starting to take a toll. It was getting tough, by thirty Padilla was relying on buffout and afterburner to keep him going, and barely making the tam sheet, he was a nobody, a fizzled out striker the system had spit out and never wanted to take back. He quit the sport, or rather was forced out due to poor performances and an ever-increasing appetite for higher wages. That was it for Eduard’s fút career, and he knew it. Tossed in the street, Eduard tried to find alternatives in life, something he could do in order to survive in the wild, his days of excessive partying, free handouts and general comfort were gone, left, was he with a total of zero real life experiences and no idea where to venture on. He decided to venture north, across the now-open border and into the American territories, and try to start again, as a thirty-five year old washed out athlete with few usable skills but plenty of ambition… Strengths: Eduard is a natural athlete, and has spent a good portion of his life training and performing rigorous physical activity on a daily basis, this has left him with numerous strengths that can be considered highly desirable in the wastes; he’s fast, agile, and one tough sonofabitch. Being an athlete has also played a big role in his mentality as a person, Padilla is a fierce competitor, and can really motivate himself to get the job done. Competition is his playground, a playing field in which he has the mental capability and experience to dominate. Weaknesses: Eduard’s life has revolved around sport, and in many ways, it has really affected him negatively. To survive in the wastes, practical survival skills, “street smarts” and good intuition can mean the difference between life and death, it’s these experiences that shape the personalities, abilities and mindsets of the inhabitants of the wastes. Eduard has always lived in larger towns, a safe society in which his few worries involved scoring goals and choosing what’s for dinner, he never really had to fend for himself, forage, stay sharp or rely on his wits to survive. Because of his lack of experiences, Eduard’s survival skills, his situational awareness and his ability to deal with conflict, survival and stealth are very undeveloped. He has a lot to learn about how life outside the safe walls of a city work, and compared to a raider or caravaner, he’s easy prey to all manners of trickery. Traits: Fast Learner- You where born unlucky. You don't have much ability with basic skills, but your ineptitude forced you to try hard. You have an easy time learning new things, but you don't have much skill to start with. Fast Shot- It may be the adrenaline of battle or even just a lack of even-headedness. Whatever it is, you tend to not have time to waste, and are known for your ability to speedily lob attacks at your enemies. In summary - you don't have time to aim for a targeted attack, because you attack faster than normal people. Duelist- You excel at close combat with projectile weapons. While you're unlikely to hit anything past short range, you're a master of the poker table shootout, able to draw very quickly and fire accurately but only at dueling range. |
