Marcus stepped into the vacant street and felt a breath of fresh air flow through his lungs. It was a refreshing taste after the time he had spent in Trappers, barely able to breath the tobacco heavy air. He enjoyed the sensation of having a clear head, in fact it delayed him from remembering everything Hunter had said. "Find Ali Bin Ali, he might have some work." It was a simple enough task to follow, if only Marcus had the water supply to go on any sort of trip.

Hunter had told Marcus that the town had a water supply that anyone could use. The only real thing you had to do was make sure you don't hold up the line in any way. Marcus thought this was a simple enough rule to follow, after all the only thing he had to fill was a simple plastic bottle. "This shouldn't take more than a few minutes" Marcus thought to himself before crossing over to the well where the town got most of it's water.

The sun was about halfway above the horizon as Marcus arrived at the well. From what Hunter had said, Marcus thought there would be some sort of line for the well. This was far from right. The well looked abandoned and it appeared no one wanted to get any water this early in the day, except for Marcus of course.

Marcus began searching through his bag for his water bottle. He pulled out the beverage and a look of disgust came across his face as saw the water inside. It was beginning to look strangely green and Marcus wondered if he could drink it and not suffer some sort of damaging disease. Not willing to take to that big of a risk, he unscrewed the cap before tilting the bottle uncertainly. Marcus knew he probably couldn't drink the water but he had always been against wasting things. Finally with a jerky motion he dumped the water out and watched as it sunk into the dry Texas land.

Marcus blinked several times as the water disappeared into the ground. He regained his focus quickly and began to bring up some water from the well. The well wasn't very deep and it took him only a few cranks on the pump to get some up. The bottle was still out of his bag making it quick and convenient for Marcus to fill up the bottle.

The bottle wasn't too large so he had it topped off quickly. Marcus raised the now full bottle to his parched and dry lips and in one swift movement Marcus downed the whole bottle feeling the cold fresh water slide down his throat in one perfect sensation. He felt a new wave of energy flow into his system and he gave a silent thanks to whoever set up this water source.

With most of his thirst quenched Marcus began filling his bottle a second time. As the water came up to the top of the small bottle, Marcus removed it from the well and rescrewed the cap on. The bottle now held a few days worth of water, and would definitely last him until he met with Ali Bin Ali.

As he turned around, he began to notice a slight line forming behind him. Taking Hunter's advice Marcus didn't hold the line up long and soon departed without saying a word to any of the travelers. He didn't have a problem with any of the men there, he just wasn't in much of a talking mood.

Marcus glanced up at the slowly brightening sky. From what he could tell, there was only a few minutes until the sun would be up. That would mean Bucket Town would become more alive and the Texas heat would really start to come in. "God why does Texas have to be so hot" Marcus said out
loud, netting him a few strange looks from the people in line for water.

Marcus set off for the edges of town fairly quickly. He wanted to beat the incoming rush of traders and travelers who usually waited until first light to come into town. "If only Bucket Town were this easy to navigate all the time" Marcus thought to himself. After all the streets weren't very wide, and today he hadn't had to waste time moving out of people's way.

As Marcus left the Bucket Town he thought of the directions to Ali's hideout. They said that Ali operated somewhere in the old sewer access point. Hunter had told him the sewer was about half a mile west of town. Somewhere in the sewers Ali was holed up, and that was where he ran his "business" from.

Marcus had heard that the sewers were heavily populated with feral
ghouls. "I hope those are just tales to scare travelers" he thought. Marcus had met a few ghouls in his time. The younger ones were enjoyable enough, and weren't that much different from the average wastelander. The Pre-War ones though, they always seemed more affected by the wasteland then anyone else, like the knowledge of the old world was almost to hard to hold on to.

Suddenly Marcus's thoughts snapped back to the task at hand. "God, I need to focus more" he thought before continuing off to the west. He kept up a slight running pace for a good quarter of an hour before he noticed a shape on the horizon. As he neared the strange shape he realized it was just what he was searching for, a large sewer pipe.

Marcus poked his head in the opening to the sewers, catching the scent of a smell worse then all the tobacco in Trappers. He waited a few moments letting his nose adjust slightly to the completely raunchy smell.

"Sometimes you have to wonder if it's worth it" Marcus thought, looking into the dark and strange tunnel. Finally Marcus stepped into the tunnel and was immediately suffocated by darkness. Unable to see a thing in front of him, he quickly backed out of the tunnel.

He fell back into the ground, and laid there for several moments. "This is hopeless" was all he could think. He had no way to navigate the pitch black tunnels of Ali's sewers. He ran his hands across his Mohawk as he thought about what he could do. Then out of nowhere he sat up like a bullet as he remembered his old lighter.

He began digging through his bag before he found the lighter tucked away in a piece of his old sock. He flicked the lighter open and watched the small flame flicker up. "I doubt this will help too much, but I should be able to see a little bit."

Marcus then unslung his shotgun from it's normal place on his back. If the rumors about ferals were right he would need some sort of protection. Marcus had to made sure he could use the shotgun and the lighter. He had to use the sling so he could carry the shotgun with just one hand, and have the other free to hold the lighter.

"Well I've spent enough time just standing here" Marcus finally thought. Then without waiting for anything else to go wrong he strode into the sewers. His lighter didn't let him see much, but he wouldn't run into anything and could see where he was going.

Marcus inched his way through the opening part of the tunnels. It appeared to be very open and he didn't see anything for the first sixty yards or so. Soon enough though he found himself facing a rough stone wall. His attempt to walk towards his left ended poorly when he collided with a different wall.

Realizing that way wouldn't work well for him, he tried taking the other direction. The sewers continued off this way, so Marcus kept moving that way. He walked slowly through the tunnel so he wouldn't hit anymore walls. His pace was little more that a crawl and after ten minutes he had gone no more then a hundred yards.

Marcus was startled when he heard a low moan echo out into the tunnels. Marcus couldn't stop his arm from shaking as he tried to adjust his lighter to see better. Meanwhile he also had his shotgun in a death grip. Then to make things worse he began to hear ragged footsteps somewhere in front of him.

Suddenly an obviously feral ghoul appeared out of the darkness swinging its arms wildly at Marcus. It's strike knocked him to the ground and his lighter flew from his hand. Now blinded, Marcus wildly brought up his shotgun and smashed the butt into the feral, smashing into it's unprotected gut. Then scrambling to his feet Marcus aimed the gun toward the wheezing sound that was now coming from the ghoul. With his arms still shaking violently he pulled the trigger and he heard nothing but the loud bang of the shell.

The ghoul's wheezing was gone and now Marcus was alone in the darkness with no light at all. He dropped to his hands and knees and began frantically searching for his lighter. He felt the rough rock beneath his fingers but he could not locate the lighter. "Oh my god, I'm trapped" he thought to himself, as panic began to rise deep in his gut.

His breathing was rough and ragged as the realization sunk in. He would have to feel his way along the wall and hope he found the right way out. "After that encounter with the feral, I don't know if I'm even facing the right way." He opened his bag in the dark, and felt around in side before taking out a small piece of meat. After a few moments of feeling it, he discovered it was the last of his squirrel. He quickly scarfed it down, before leaning back against the wall of the sewers.

Marcus didn't remember dozing off in the sewers. He must have though because he was suddenly awakened as a bright light flooded the tunnels. "So what are ya doing in here without turning the damn lights on" a strange voice said.

"Hunter sent me, he said Ali might have some kind of work for me" Marcus managed as his eyes began to adjust to the sudden flow of lights.

"Well why didn't you turn the lights on, maybe if ya had this beast wouldn't have found ya" the man said before tipping his rifle in the dead ghouls direction.

"Trust me if I had known there were lights, I would have hit them" Marcus replied as he began to study the man. The stranger was about six foot and was wearing some sort of actual armor. His skin tone was darker than Marcus, and his hair was in long dreadlocks around his skull.

"Well if ya are here to meet Ali, I mine as well let a see him. By the way the names Roland." he replied, before extending a hand to help Marcus to his feet.

"Name's Marcus", Marcus replied simply. He gave Roland a shrug of his shoulders before collecting his things off the floor of the tunnel. He found everything except for his lighter, which was still missing since the ghoul attack.

"Well Marcus, would this happen to be yours" Roland said extending Marcus's lighter out in his hand. Marcus took it and slipped it back into his bag.

"Thanks Roland, you never know when you need these things. And I'm not trying to rush you but could I see Ali now?" Marcus asked.

"Sure thing boss" he said laughing.

Roland then led Marcus deeper into the tunnel system. Marcus realized the sewers were a lot wider than he had originally thought, they had enough room for at least five people to walk side by side.

"And here we are, right through there" Roland said as they came to a hole in the side of the tunnel. "Just be respectful, okay?" Roland said before departing and leaving Marcus alone in the tunnel.

Marcus stepped into the holed out office and saw a man sitting behind a polished wooden desk. The desk seemed extremely out of place in the damp depressing sewers. Marcus remembered Roland's warning about respect, so he kept this thought to himself.

The man behind the desk looked strange to Marcus as well. He had a dark skin tone but it wasn't a tan like most people had. The man's face had a mass of facial hair that extended down quite a ways past his chin. Despite the length of his beard it was suprisingly well groomed. Marcus had never seen anyone in the wastes who looked quite like this man. "Oh well, I don't mind new things" Marcus thought.

"Who to we have here?" the man behind the desk asked before giving Marcus a quizzical look.

"Marcus Locker, Hunter sent me" he replied bluntly.

"Never heard of you, but I like that. I think it's time that you start to make a name for yourself here. Would you be interested in a simple job?" he asked Marcus in an equally blunt tone.

"Well it depends I was sort of looking for Ali...." Marcus replied with his voice trailing off.

"Oh where are my manners, Ali Bin Ali at your service. Now about that job?" Ali answered.

"It depends, whats the job?" Marcus replied.

"Well I'm sort of the undisputed drug king around here. But there's some hotshot who's trying to sell his own stuff over at Bobo's. I want him gone. It's a simple job really, all you have to do is get rid of him. Now I don't want him dead, that would only make us look bad here. You can scare him off, or pay him to leave. Really it doesn't matter to me as long he disappears. What do ya say?" Ali said his tone remaining flat throughout the whole story.

"I could do that for you, as long the pay is decent" Marcus replied letting a grin cross his face.

"Hey if you can get him to leave the possibilities are endless" Ali said.

"Well then you have your man" Marcus told him before turning to leave.

Marcus found Bobo's easy enough. The first person he found outside of Trapper's, had eagerly pointed him to the north side of Bucket Town. From the outside Bobo's looked like one of the sturdiest and homey places in town.

Marcus wandered into Bobo's bar around midday. "This must be the slow time" he laughed as he glanced around the bar. There was a few people at the various tables around the building, and one or two of the patrons were on makeshift bar stools chatting up the bartender. Marcus assumed that the bartender was Bobo of the bar's name.

Marcus walked up to the counter to engage the bartender in conversation. The bartender was a short man who was maybe five four. He looked a lot larger because he was extremely heavyset. "Well he likes to eat, and just a little too much" Marcus thought.

"Hey my good man, do you own this place?" Marcus asked politely.

"Basically, what's it to ya?" he replied.

"Nothing, just new in a town" Marcus told him honestly. "I was wondering where someone might come by some chems?" Marcus then asked him.

"Well normally I'd point someone like you towards Ali Bin Ali, he is the local drug lord. But recently that man over there (he points to a man siting in a corner in back) has been offering chems at much lower prices." he told Marcus.

"Hmm, thanks for the help man" Marcus replied before turning to speak to the other chem dealer.

"Wait a second!" The bartender replied, "the word is his chems might be bad news, if you catch my drift. He just paid me a little bit to advertise for him, I'm be careful buying from him" he warned before turning back to his work.

Marcus turned away from the bar and began walking towards the dealer. "This guy sounds like a piece of work. I'm glad I get to get rid of him." Marcus thought as he sat down next to the man.

"So I hear your the one to talk to about getting some cheap chems?" Marcus asked the strange man sitting at the table.

"I just so happen to be the guy your looking for" he replied. "You don't know how right you are" Marcus thought before letting out a slight chuckle.

"Well I'd trust you more if I got your name" Marcus told him straight.

"J.T. Jones man, anything specific you want?" The man answered.

"Well it kind of surprised me...." Marcus said trying to sound mysteriously.

"What surprised you?" Jones answered leaning in closer on the table.

"How someone could run a chem selling business right under Ali's nose, and think they'd get away with it" Marcus replied giving him a cold smile.

"What, what do you want?" Jones asked the fear obvious in his voice.

"I want you to leave" he said drawing out his knife. He had fashioned the broken blade to make it look a lot more frightening. "And you are going to before Ali sends someone else" Marcus said coldly.
"Hey man I don't want trouble, but this is how I make a living, you have to understand?" Jones stammered. "You've got to understand, right?" he continued.

"Here's what you don't understand, I don't work for Ali. He just gave me a quick errand to run, and when I run it I get paid. So the sooner I get read of you the sooner I get paid." Marcus told him before throwing the knife back and forth between his hands.

"Okay, Okay" he said obviously shaken. "I'm gone, like now" he told Marcus before scrambling to leave his chair. He tripped over the legs of the table, letting out a grunt as he fell flat on his face.

"Well don't let me see you in town again." Marcus said before picking up the man by his collar, "Or it will not be pretty, understand?" Marcus asked just to be sure.

Jones couldn't find any words so he just nodded his head quickly. Marcus then released his collar and watching him rush out of the bar. "I haven't seen somebody run like that in quite some time" Marcus thought before heading for the door.

As he reached the door he turned back to the bartender, who raised a bottle to him in respect. "He's a good man, and he likes to get paid. That could be useful in the future" Marcus thought to himself before giving the bartender a silent nod in response. Then he wordlessly left the bar to go collect his payment.

Well. Overall, this was a good, solid mission. You're still a bit shaky but that's not a bad thing can be cured by practice, practice, practice and practice. You're a strong writer with a lot of potential. You deserve your rewards and don't let the length of an RP constrain you, go on for as long as you need to.
