Waking up in the morning, spitting out sand from his mouth, Leon groggily lurched forward. Rubbing his hair, with sand easily pouring out, Leon slowly stood up and began cracking his back by stretching. The fire had long since gone out, and Survana was still asleep. Walking over to here, Leon yawned and retrieved his bow and potato sack backpack. Nudging Survana with his foot in an attempt to get her to wake up, Leon looked around. A still, quiet and cool morning for the wasteland. Yet another day of walking was ahead of them, and Leon would like to move now. |

((Ragdolling Leon with permission.)) Suvarna's eyes snapped open and she immediately popped the blade of her switchblade. She looked up at Leon for a moment then closed the knife and put it away. "Good morning," she mumbled drowsily through her veil. With a yawn and a roll of her neck she shed the last vestiges of sleep and got to her feet. Suvarna looked at Leon once more, he seemed a little fidgety to her. "Don't be in such a rush. Breakfast courtesy of Indira coming up." Suvarna coaxed the brahmin up, causing one of the heads to moo fitfully. She then crouched down, set a hilariously undersized vessel down and started milking the cow. It took a little while as she had a little trouble aiming, but she eventually filled the vessel and took a long sip before handing it to Leon. "Unpasteurized of course, but mostly safe. Not half bad really. I had some notions for improving the flavor and yield, but I won't bore you." Once they had finished and broken camp they set out once more towards Brick. They walked in silence throughout the early morning, grateful for the slightly less intense heat. They had come across a ribbon of broken pavement, centuries old and were following it when Leon heard something distressing. "Radscorpion nearby," he hissed "Be on the lookout." The two travelers began surveying their surroundings as the sound became obvious enough for Suvarna to notice. Suvarna turned and saw it and swallowed as her heart suddenly lunged up into her throat "It's enormous," she choked. Leon cursed, drew his bow, and readied an arrow. "Don't be ridiculous," Suvarna said, "Even if we had guns I doubt we could kill it. We need to get away, but Indira can't outrun that thing." "Look," Leon said, gesturing down the old road at a ruined building in the distance. "No good," Suvarna replied "That hole in the wall is big enough for it to crawl through." "I didn't mean we use it to hide in. I could lure it in there, maybe trap it long enough for you to get ahead with the brahmin." Suvarna nodded "No, that's a good idea...but your ribs, can you really outrun it like that? Maybe I should lure it instead and catch up to you?" "Well, yeah I guess I'm not going to say 'no,' to a chance to not have to play bait for a radscorp. Good luck!" Leon took up the brahmin's reins and moved forward as quickly as Indira would allow. Meanwhile Suvarna picked up a few rocks and started pelting them at the Radscorp while working her way towards the service station. The stupid monster seemed a bit confused for a moment, scuttling towards Suvarna and then Leon before committing to Suvarna. Once it was after her she dropped the remaining rocks and broke out into a full run. The multi-legged was faster than her however, and it was only her decent lead that kept her ahead. She ignored the mounting pain and took in heavy breaths until the air felt like battery-acid in her lungs. The ruined service station loomed nigh and she stumbled through the hole in the wall, nearly tripping over some wrecked bit of furniture. She looked around frantically as the giant arachnid started squeezing its way in and Suvarna picked up the broken chair that had nearly sent her sprawling and hurled it at the creature, frowning as it bounced off ineffectually. Her eyes finally adjusted to the lower light and she made out the closed door in the darkness. Just as the Radscorp finally lurched inside she barreled through the door, knocking it in as she threw her weight against it. Suvarna stumbled outside and picked up the door, pushing it back towards the open doorway. Why the hell am I doing this, she screamed in her head as she realized how stupid the act was. The radscorpion's tail lashed out and smashed through the door, the impact sending her on her behind. She raised her hands and shut her eyes, expecting a second strike to follow. It did not come. Suvarna opened her eyes and exhaled in relief and disbelief. The end of the stinger had completely broken through the door without splitting it in two. When it reflexively went back to strike again, the mostly-intact door was turned horizontally and now was stuck on the doorway. Suvarna got up and jogged away as the radscorp tried to free itself. She was out of sight when the thing finally broke the door entirely. Leon had made some good distance himself, and by the time Suvarna had caught up she had the strength to pull herself onto Indira and lay there, heaving. |

Leon looked behind him. His plan had worked out, much to Leons own surprise, and Survana escaped unharmed. How exactly she managed to do that with the flowly robes but, hey. More power to her. Helping Survana onto the Brahmin as she nearly collpased onto it, Leon looked back at the gas station. Emitting a small chuckle as he noticed the Rad Scorpion was still struggling to go through the first door. Even though they were large, tough, and all around scary to look at; they don't know how to open doors. Of course, there was nothing saying that the next person who's going to peek inside the gas station is going to have a please time, but, that wasn't Leons concern. "Alright Survana, just hang onto the brahmin. We outta be to Brick in three days." Leon said, before walking onwards to Brick. ((TIME SKIP, WITH OP'S PERMISSION)) Three days later, and a slightly new sunburn mark on Leon's arms, the two arrived into Brick. Leon still held onto the reins of the Brahmin as they walked into the town limits, gaining a evil-eye from a man carrying an old vest that still read a faded 'Police' and carrying what looked to be a belt-feed machine gun. "Alright Survana..." Leon said, handing back the reins to her Brahmin to her as she mismounted from the Brahmin. "Nice traveling with you. Stay safe, alright?" Leon said. Shaking her hand before he turned to leave, Leon then took in the sights of Brick. To say the least, the place was ugly. In the center of town there was large mudpits where various workers...worked with shovels and hoes to scoop up the mud into wheelbarrows or buckets or really anything. A few people relaxed in what little shade the town had, while a few guards; like the one from before, carrying machine guns patrolled slowly around the only place in town with windows. A few men with shabby suits also stood in front of one building in particular. They scanned the areas with there eyes, seemingly looking for a reason to use the pistols visible at there waists. The occasional person would pass through the door they were guarding after exchanging what looked like to be small hides. Across from where Leon was standing, a kiln stood. Unfired mud bricks stood on the right side of it, piled up high, while the finished bricks were busy being loaded onto a small cart being dragged by a Brahmin. Looking around again, this time for some sort of store, Leon saw a small painted sign with a crude dollar sign painted onto it, Leon assumed thats where he needed to go. And, so he did. |

The following day after the encounter with the radscorp, Suvarna was up to walking again and she proceeded to take turns holding her brahmin's reigns with Leon. The rest of the trip was fairly uneventful as they managed to circumvent what few beings they might have otherwise encountered... They eventually reached Brick which was impressive to Suvarna only in direct comparison to Bucket Town which lacked any real industry at all. Granted what she saw appeared to be strictly amateur hour: shaping mud into bricks and laying them out in a kiln, just about the simplest kind of brick one could make. Given a chance she knew she could turn this place around. She was stirred from her daydreaming by Leon who seemed ready to part ways, taking her hand in a firm handshake. "Thank you Leon," Suvarna said, putting her left hand over the handshake-in-progress "I wish you well my friend. Take care." As her temporary companion wandered off in search of the store, and the shovel that brought him here, Suvarna looked around for the man or woman in charge. If she could make a pitch, she thought she could do much to help here. [I'm done. Ready for judgement when Hench is.] |

Okay, overall, a solid travel piece. Not too much action, but how many walking trips have explosions every five seconds? The Raider segment felt a little disjointed, but the following dispute was an interesting interaction. The Radscorpion segment was interesting, and the way of dealing with it was a path less travelled by characters around here. Rewards Time!!
