Several minutes after their initial meeting Suvarna Vishnavi led her new business partners out of Bucket Town and into the wastes. She looked back at the ghoul Jackal and the eccentric gunman Deko, neither of them had even pretended to be reticent about violence. She was slightly ashamed that she had resorted to it so soon after leaving the company of her morally upright parents. Greater than shame, she was afraid that their eagerness for bloodshed might include her if she failed to produce results. Also on her mind was Deko's oddly specific prediction that the homesteaders had been killed by thieves. As it had been out of nowhere, she dreaded the implications if he turned out to be right. "We found the place completely by accident," she said after an hour's silent walk. "The caravan was making use of the remains of the old highway when we heard gunfire ahead of us. It sounded like a small war, so we got off the road to get out of sight and work our way around it. The homestead was built around a Poseidon Gas service station off one of the exits. They had built a wall around it. The caravan master was interested in waiting out the gunfight there and doing some trading, but as we approached a pair of sentries just opened fire on us. I spotted their brahmin as we were turning around." |

Jackal nodded along as Suvarna spoke, breaking the silence of the group before it became tense. He flexed his fingers around his heavy forearm, wringing his wrist and checking his watch. Despite looking distracted, he was weighing up options in his head. Potential rewards. The place they were attacking was walled in ... that'd probably make life difficult. Very difficult. Attacking a fortified position ... explosives would be a bonus. But unlikely, so a lot of thinking would need to go into this. "This is where actually remembering the shit the DIs taught you would be handy." "I remember it. Just not all the time." "And I take it this is one of those not all the times?" "So it would seem, my anger-centric subconscious." "Oh. Low blow, Liam." Jackal looked back up at Suvarna and stood square-on to her. "So the likelihood of violence is how high?" Jackal rasped, his left eyebrow arching sharply, "Just how solid are these defences and how many are guarding them? Or how many could you see?" |

“That doesn’t matter! Let’s Just blow up those things.” Deko do a long Breath. “If we can survive until the Turrets overheat, I can blow one whit my Hand Cannon, but if have another’s, I will take a hard time to reload and shot, and the Torrents will have time to shot again, doing it several times we can be cheated and killed.” Deko reload the Hand Cannon, Deko throw the Cigarette in the ground and say “I’m getting addicted to this shit.” Deko see in the horizon in his vision limit, a sign writhed “Poseidon Gas”, Deko feel a idiot, thinking if he can be taked down by a Sentry or a farmer. “Yeah, I think they get killed by robbers will be a fucking miracle, but now, the serious stuff, what the plan?” |

The young chemist thought back on her first visit to the homestead before responding to Jackal. "The walls are stacks of tires sandwiched between sheets of corrugated tin, maybe five to six feet tall with plenty of small gaps and bullet holes. The gate's chain link, it didn't even look attached to the wall. Not sure what's holding the tires down, if anything. The rooftop of the service station and its accompanying garage stand well over the wall, they're both flat so presumably they might have someone up there. I'm only sure of the two men who took shots at us, but there's likely more inside. As for the likelihood of violence, I would estimate that it's very probable. It's conceivable that they only shot at the caravan because they heard the same fight we did and got spooked, but we were very clearly a caravan and not raiders." Suvarna led them to a patch of squat, thorn-ridden bushes that they might hide behind while they observed the homestead in the distance. Having come a little closer, it was now possible to see Sparse Shade written beneath Poseidon Gas. The braying of brahmin could be heard. "Didn't notice the name last time. Deko did you say you saw a turret, as in an automated, robot gun? I didn't see that when the caravan passed by," she tried to focus in on the little compound. She couldn't see a turret, but she didn't have the best eyesight. |

"Turrets? Well that's just great." Jackal sparked up another cigarette and watched the compound, his eyes narrowing. He couldn't pick out any turrets, but it was best to assume that with the fuel riots, a Poseidon Oil station would be packing some serious shit in it's hardwire points. Jackal rubbed his chin and looked the compound over again. "If there are turrets in there, they'll be over where the pumps used to be, and in the station itself. The walls are a retrofit. They're too high for the turrets to pick out targets over if you stay low. Can't get an angle on you with the hill," Jackal stated bluntly, "But you wanna be careful once at the wall. Those turrets'll fuck ya til ya say they love ya if they can get a bead on ya. And that hand cannon won't do shit when you've been cut in half by automatic fire." Jackal sat down cross-legged, frowning as he thought to himself. "Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck what did I get myself into?" He rubbed his face, growling before stopping himself. "Can't we be sane around the new people?" "We'll play that by ear." |

Deko closed his eyes. He looks for Jackal, Deko pick up the Hand Cannon, doing a fast shot in the gas tubes, the Gunpowder cause a inflammation in the tube, doing the Turrets explode fast, “This is us signal” Deko take cover in a rock ad pick he’s MG, he get heavy fire in the door, trying to kill the door guards, after some time, he have to reload, and the counterattack comes, he reloads the MG and wait until they stop. He get up and run to the gate killing some enemies. “Holy Shit!” Yells Jackal right behind Deko, finally he see a man whit a flamer coming for him, Deko pick the MG and shot in the man, Deko reach another Rock tacking cover of the fire, Deko start shooting and reloading, without any idea of what to do. "Any ideia?! Jackal, Survana? Will come great!" |

Suvarna ducked down as Deko suddenly rushed the homestead and smashed his way inside in a frantic display of violence. She looked sidelong at Jackal and simply gestured at the rapidly unfolding chaos with stupefied silence. Composing herself as best she could she peeked from her hiding place and called out "Deko you maniac, watch out for the brahmin enclosure!" She reached into her belongings and pulled out a sealed bottle of liquid which she began preparing. In a matter of moments she had a Molotov cocktail at the ready which she lit and hurled into the wall where it exploded atop a stack of tires. Though nobody was struck down, the acrid, black smoke that resulted successfully obscured the view of a sniper on the roof of the service station who subsequently missed Deko with his pipe rifle. Deko had shot three men, it was uncertain if they were all dead or just dying. A fourth gunman on the rooftop was coughing up a lung as he tried to escape the black smoke that coiled around him, and four more were on ground level: one near the brahmin enclosure, two firing from the shattered windows of the station, and the last trying to draw a bead on Deko from within the garage. If there were any women or children in this homestead they must have been hiding indoors, though none of the men looked like typical homesteaders. |

Jackal just shrugged in response to Suvarna's nonplusssed gesture at Deko's little eruption of gut-crushing psychotic violence. If nothing else, Jackal was confused (and he had to admit, a little worried) at how he was no longer the least apparently stable member of the trio. He unslung his Kala Rifle, wincing as he brought his left arm up to support it. He moved up the hill more slowly, half because he didn't want to get shot and half because he didn't wanna have a lunatic-off with Deko. He paused at the wall, glancing inside just as Suvarna bummed a molotov cocktail into the compound. He spotted the one lining up a shot at Deko right about the same time Suvarna must have, and nodded to their employer before crouching and loosing a shot at the man. The target ducked, but not fast enough. The Kala's shot punched into the unfortunate homesteader's chest, spinning him from his feet as his muscles spasmed. Jackal winced ... shot must've hit the spine. Jackal ducked back into cover, glancing over at Suvarna. "So ... eh ... I guess Plan A is turn Deko loose and make sure no one shoots him in the back?" Jackal grunted. |

He looks for the Brahmin, a big smile can be seed in his face, he yells: “Cover me!” “What the fuck?” Jackal yells, Deko start running for the Brahmin, shooting everything in his front, his break by the entrance, when he run for the Brahmin, a man kick he in the Chest, throwing Deko in the ground, Deko reload the Hand Cannon in silence, during this, the Man pick up a Rudimentary Revolver, Deko kicks the man chest and get up, he do a fast Hand Cannon shot in the man head, doing blood spill for all the place. “Don’t mess whit me you Idiot Sucker!” Deko enter in the Brahmin cell, now Deko see just three homesteaders are alive, a big smile appears in his face, when he unload the MG in the group killing two of them, the another in a luck shot don’t get hit and fire in Deko arm, Deko fell all the pain and yells “Fuck! Suvarna bit her lip and shrugged at Jackal. "Yes? Honestly, I thought we would still be talking about how to take this place at this juncture. I think there's one more in that gara-," she was cut off by said gunman shooting Deko and Deko's subsequent cry for help. Suvarna ducked back down and muttered "If you can shoot that last one there, I think I can bandage Deko before the silly bastard bleeds out." |

Jackal sighed at Deko's cry for help. Such was the life of the attempted badass. Short, exciting, and an abrupt, painful end that came riding on a .30-06 straight to the chest cavity. Jackal bit back a sharp retort at Suvarna's suggestion of saving Deko's over-eager ass and circled around by the paddock while the shooter was otherwise occupied. Jackal made sure to make plenty of noise to draw a little attention as he slid into the compound's drainage ditch. He scrambled along, his short stature paying off as shots thumped into a small area about ten feet either side of where he splashed into the muddy trench and began crawling. He guessed all the rattling wouldn't do his Kala Rifle any good, but it kept his torso lead-free - which was significantly more important. He shuffled around, bracing himself at the trench wall and killing his glow completely as he inched upwards to get a look at the poor bastard, who was crouched behind a feed trough, watching the spot where he'd been shooting. He'd assumed his cover fire had been effective. The truth, not so much. Jackal lined up a shot just as the man glanced around, spotting Jackal aiming down the sights of his rifle. The man's jaw dropped as Jackal compensated flexed his finger from the safe position to the trigger. The man twisted and began to dive out of Jackal's line of sight as Jackal's finger slowly, gently squeezed the trigger. The Kala Rifle's Gain Medium hissed and the muzzle produced it's characteristic buzz, the low hum of the Microfusion Cell rising to a high-pitched whine as it recharged the chamber. The man's head was out of danger by then. But Jackal had learned long ago not to aim for a small, fast-moving target like a human head at this range, particularly with a battered gun. The shot punctured the man's chest just beside his sternum, burning a nice ragged little hole in his jacket, shirt, skin, heart and left lung. The laser would've cauterised the wound around the skin and the holes in the heart and lungs. Sadly for the man, that only meant the holes wouldn't tear and grow very easily. He still bled like a pig, crimson arterial blood frothing through his punctured lung and heart before the shock and sudden drop in blood pressure cut him off. Jackal clambered out from the ditch, kicking thick, sticky mud from his boots as he crossed the field to Suvarna and Deko. He passed them by, kicking the gate of the Brahmin Paddock shut before any of the big, dumb creatures could wander off or whatever else it was loose Brahmin did. He then returned to Suvarna and Deko, squatting next to the merc. "You got shot. Kid, I don't wanna be a downer here, but getting shot is a really big deal," Jackal grumbled, "If it's any consolation, I'll wait until you go cold before looting your corpse. Should worst come to worst, of course." Jackal stood back up, pulling a cigarette from inside his jacket and lit up. His "manners" got the better of him, and he sighed, offering a few hand-rolled stogies around. |

Once the fighting had ceased, Suvarna nervously crept into Sparse Shade. Despite Deko's whooping and groaning, the sounds of crackling fire and the moans of the dying were not drowned out. She relieved a dead gunman of his shirt and began tearing it into strips. "Hold still," she hissed in unconcealed irritation as she began bandaging Deko's arm "Try not to use that arm too much. I can't exactly try to remove the bullet just now." Once she was done she began looking around for useful bits. "Jackal, think you could use any of that tin siding?" Suvarna stepped inside the old service station and saw that the interior had been divided into smaller sections through the use of more tin and brahmin leather curtains. As she rummaged through the building, she ended up following her nose to the overwhelming stench of death. Pulling aside a curtain she found a room full of stripped corpses: men and women. She let the curtain drop and stepped away quickly, concentrating on keeping her gorge down. They had clearly been subjected to great abuse, the sudden knowledge that her new compatriots had killed killers slightly quieted her guilt. The chemist swallowed hard and started going through the personal effects scattered around, various odds and ends that could be useful in jury-rigging a lab and kitchen for her needs. She then exited and started examining the brahmin. After reviewing the braying beasts she turned to the others "This one's stone-bruised, wouldn't make it back to town. Unless we set up shop here it'd be best to butcher it for meat." |

Jackal considered Suvarna's question as he approached the ramshackle buildings and the bullet-pocked defences laid over the windows - wouldn't have done much. Not against anything more dangerous than a kid's BB Gun. Jackal tapped on it anc checked it over. Parts of it were tin cans strung together. There were other parts of the siding he could work with though. "I could, given that not all of it is actually tin. Some of it's Galvanised Steel," Jackal grunted back at Suvarna, strangely happy to be doing something constructive for once. He ripped a sheet free of the wall, nearly losing his balance as the last nail popped free and the sheet went arse-over head in his grip. He caught himself and propped the sheet up against the building, glancing around for something to transport them in. A makeshift cart or something. What kind of shitty homesteaders wouldn't have a Brahmin Cart? Jackal left his dismantling of the wall for later in the day and wandered off in search of a cart. He stepped into the building as Suvarna left (not because he thought he might find a cart in there, but because he was curious), wincing at the sight of the slaughtered ... no idea-who-they-were's. He decided to let the dead lie and avoided looking at the slaughtered, battered bodies of the children. Kids brought back some unpleasant memories. And with no Army shrinks around, Jackal elected to avoid anything that could cause flashbacks or trigger whatever it was made him go balls-to-the-walls every now and again. He emerged, his face twisted to a look of somewhat hypocritical disgust at the abuse the people had obviously undergone before being executed. He returned to Deko and Suvarna just in time for Suvarna's speech about the Stone Bruised Brahmin. Yeah. Whatever the hell that meant. Without missing a beat, Jackal unslung his Kala Rifle once more and fired a shot into the Brahmin's left head, then the right head. "Okay. Where do we hang the body to let it drain?" Jackal grunted. "Way to think that one through, prick-features," Liam thought. "Shut up, Liam," Jackal responded, "Great, more internal arguments." Shaking his head and sighing, Jackal returned to pulling sheets of galvanised steel from the compound walls and perimeter wall. Seemed to be one of those days when small-scale destruction was just about all he could manage without getting the sudden urge to punch the nearest warm body, or electrocute them if the means were available. |
