Name: Shopping Maul (Formerly Mall of the South) Population: 580 feral ghouls. Location: Central Louisiana. =================================================== "To say the least, the place IS properly named...." - Recovered Audiotape of Landon Greene, Formerly Missing Bounty Hunter. Before the war, Shopping Maul was the Mall of the South. Built fifty years before the Great War, it was designed, built and owned by an eccentric Louisiana real estate developer named Jonah Lee. Hoping to make it the largest mall in the world, he nearly succeeded before the Chinese finished there state-owned project early. Jonah Lee envisioned the mall to be a proud example of American capitalism. As such, he designed it to be as large and as grand as possible. Containing a small amusement park that houses a water slide and a roller coaster, it also contained various chain restruants. Housing up to a hundred different stores, ranging from auto supply stores to toy stores, it supplied basically everything that the local populace needed. Getting up to hundreds of thousands of visitors a day, even on the fateful day atomic fire rained down from the sky. On that day, most of the people inside of the mall were killed either through the struggle for the various supplies inside of the mall or the atomic bomb itself. After the original violence, the survivors banded together and attempted to get things working again. However, they slowly turned to ghouls. Then, those ghouls turned into ferals. And now, those feral ghouls roam the hallways of Shopping Maul. ====================================================== "We've been up on the roof for at least an hour now. Were running out of ammo, food, water and men. I figure it'll just be- OH SHIT IT'S GOT MY LEG SOM- *The audiotape cuts out shortly after*" - Recovered Audiotape of Adam Jay, Former Neo-Patriot Sargent. Shopping Maul is the largest shopping mall in the Southern United states. It's at least four floors high, and rows of various stores. As such, it affords the adventuer that enters the place various places to hide and scavenge materials to fight off the hordes of ferals. Or, great places for ferals to ambush you. During the first several years of the Apocalypse, most of the important stores (such as gun stores or restaurants) have been picked clean of weapons or supplies. Thats not to say that you won't find items that you need in those stores, its just that you won't find as much. Another important area, aside from the stores, is the 'Playground'. Consisting of a waterslide and a small roller coaster, both of these rides have long been since nonoperational. However, it does allow the adventuers a place to be high above the zombie horde and may pack a few surprises for them, good and bad. Finally, there is only one way in but multiple ways out. The adventurers enter through the roof, as the rest of the entrances; such as the front entrance or the parking garage have been barricaded from the inside. Should be helpful for the adventurer trying to escape. ====================================================== "Can't believe the stupid town mayor talked me into this. It's some bullshit. I could be back at the farm, but no. Right now I'm huddled in a corner talking to myself. This is just great. Class A bullshit." - Johnny Leno, Former Farmer. As mentioned earlier, various towns want the Shopping Maul for the generators fuel. In many ways, it will be able to put there town on the map by having a continual power-source and therefore be able to cement there potion in the area. Most towns are small villiages. However, the two largest (and better paying) and below. ((OOC: NOTE. Yes, you PC's have to pick a town to work for. A simple majority vote will do. )) Westfield Metro Station: A rather small settlement. Located inside a former above-ground subway station, it has a rather small population of about twenty five or so. What makes it unique, however, is the fact that they have limited manufacturing capability's. As such, they can produce limited amount of supplies such as crude firearms. With the power, they hope they can use it to double there manufacturing capabilities and move in deeper through the subway system. To the PC's, it will allow the PC's to have better supplies but less NPC support. Breecher's Fields Named after the site of a post-war battle between John Breecher, a fiery anti-slavery propent agiasnt and a large slaver gang. Breecher won the battle, and founded the town as a haven for all escaped slaves. Compared to Southern Metro Station, it has a larger population of fifty seven. It is also located on an area suitable for small-scale farming, allows some measure of self dependency. However, unlike the Southern Metro Station, it has no manufacturing capabilities. With power, they hope to able to build an irritation system. To PC's, they have much more NPC support but little supplies to offer. |
