[1x] Helmet - holes have been soldered out of this rusty piece of metal to make way for the spikes jutting from his skull. [2x] Arm Armor - it consists of a bracer-like affair, with metal plates strapped across the top. The edges of the metal have been sharpened, so he need only get in a lucky wild swing with one to decapitate his opponent. [1x] Shield - about 1.5 feet wide, it's strapped to his left arm. The edges have been sharpened, like his armor. [1x] Raider Club - glass, nails, you name it, it's been driven deep into the head of this heavy piece of wood. The heavy end is also wrapped in barbed wire three layers deep. 50 pts |

[1x] shield - The raider shield could be considered too heavy for someone of Urchin's stature, so he hacked some of it off, smaller and more versatile. Urchin also had the idea of driving his (standard tier 2) dagger into the front of the shield, allowing him to skewer his enemy. [1x] arm armour - Urchin's arm not covered by a shield is covered by a layer of arm armour. [1x] raider club - Urchin drag this weapon along the floor in combat, ready to bludgeon anyone who gets too close. [1x] razor wire whip - The razor wire whip is strapped around Urchin's club but it can easily be pulled off allowing for a double weapon if he ever needs them. 40 pts You ready for this? |

Dark. Shadows all around. A distant roar and shudder just beyond him. Heavy. He crouched in the sand, hands and feet dug deeply into the cool, giving ground. The sand of the wastes was never this benign. He was surrounded by a shell of safety. A soundproof bastion of peace. And he hated it. The heavy doors just ahead of him creaked and groaned. He tensed, resettling his linebacker's posture, eyes focused despite the pitch blackness of his cell. His heart had not yet begun to hammer, though a thrill of anticipation was fluttering rather childishly in his gut. He'd have to remember to cut himself there later, to show he was stronger than that. Another groan. The roar – a thunder of voices hundreds strong – grew louder. He tossed sand impatiently. His heart started to speed up. Then there was a mighty shudder from somewhere above him, and the gate swung upward as manpower dragged it out of his way. Shank shot out of the cell with the intensity of a hungry wolf, eyes shooting from side to side in search of his prey. The arena sand would be difficult to fight on. It was littered with broken weapons, metal shards and bone fragments. Several raised metal platforms gave relief from this, but they were tilted, so balance would be a key factor there. Also rusty – a hole in one attested to where a fighter's foot had gone through. Dried blood attested to his death. His heart was indeed beating hard against his ribcage now. A thrill shot through him at the sight of a small figure across the arena, and he charged to close the distance, pausing as he approached. He laughed. There was no attempt to even hide the chuckle as he eyed the boy up and down. The kid eyed him back, and Shank found himself appreciating the look of hatred he received. They circled. Shank had a good head on the boy, and he wasn't too bothered. However, the thought of splattering this boy's insides all over the sand excited him. He charged. The boy wasn't caught off-guard. However, his shield being too small to block the weapon, he raised his club – a mistake. Both weapons met, and caught. The boy's barbed wire whip meshed with Shank's tri-layer wrapping, and both weapons were snarled. The boy stubbornly held on. Shank dragged him forward, then took two steps back, surprised, as the boy swung at him with the smaller shield. Shank almost unconsciously blocked it with his own shielded arm, and for a moment the two of them stood, locked. Shank's eyes narrowed to slits. The boy was already sweating. This was almost too easy. With a hard thrust he shoved the kid's shield away, then brought his own crashing down on the two trapped clubs. Part of Shank's wire mesh left his club as he smashed off the head of the boy's club, severing a good foot and a half of the whip while he was at it. The two sprang apart, neither harmed, but both more cautious now. Shank didn't give the kid time to recover. He charged again, and heard the whip before he felt it. The boy was fast, he'd give him that. The whip wrapped around his left arm, looping around the shield and cutting deep into the underside of Shank's arm. He grunted, the sound rising to a hunter's scream as he barreled into the kid, the broken head of his opponent's club catching on his right arm. His armor caught most of the blow, but several nails made long bleeding traces across his triceps. The boy was flung several yards, bleeding from one shoulder where Shank's spikes had caught him. He scrambled to his feet, unarmed save for his shield, as the towering monster came for him again, and made for the closest bit of cover – one of the raised platforms. Shank followed the kid around the platform, caution nearly gone in his hunger. He could smell his own blood, and that irritated him. He circled the far end of the platform and had only a brief moment of puzzlement before he heard a small scuffing above him. He raised his shield just in time – the boy had dropped from the platform above, shield down to catch him on the back of the neck. There was a mighty clanging as the two shields met. The sharpened dagger affixed the front of the boy's snapped completely off, and the edge was caved under. Shank's shield buckled, folding downward around his arm on the side. He made a small sound of effort as the boy landed on him, and the two crashed into the sand. The kid knew it was now or never. He'd landed behind his opponent, and as Shank staggered upright in his heavy armor, the boy shot forward. Grabbing one of the mutant's shoulder spikes to haul himself up, he clambered up the man's back, and, undaunted by the scaly growth, drove two fingers deep into it, seeking a pressure point on the back of the neck. The monster shuddered.. The kid's fingers felt numb, he'd struck so hard. Surprised by this, he froze a moment. Shank took the moment. Grabbing the kid's shirt with his right hand, he dragged him over his shoulder – and several spikes – and shoved him into the dirt. Raising his shielded arm, he savored the brief second of looking into the battered kid's eyes and seeing the primal fear there. Then he brought the edge crashing down on the boy's throat. Blood sprayed, spattering his neck, chest and arms. Some even made it through the small eye slits and ran down his face. He licked it where it ran by his lips. He stood, only now conscious of the screaming crowd. He knew that above him, a whole other world revolved around bets and promises and deals made in the dark. Shank was glad that down here, in the pit, none of that mattered. He took the kid's head in both hands and raised it, feeling the faint vibrations as blood rained on his helmet. The crowd shrieked with renewed frenzy. Oh yes. It was a good day to be alive. ((Notice: Shank has deep muscle tears in left arm due to lacerations made by the razor whip. This injury will likely be noticeable in his next fight.)) |

(( Bloody Hell, all right, here we go)) The crowds blasted there screams into the empty ring, waiting for the bloodshed that was inevitable, the men at the front held instruments of torture or discarded armour from previous killings, one in particular held a helmet of a once famous fighter ambushed by those that had not died in his battles soon after he was released. The walls looked so imposing, Urchin had seen nothing like it, he had fought in pit brawls once or twice but they where dirty, street side and usually rigged. Sure he had won his fights but whispers had passed around about the person he was today fighting and it unnerved to a degree. His cage opened and the light that reflected of the sand in the pit blinded Urchin for a second. He had to win the crowd quickly before the fight, sometimes his small frame and child like appearance won the horde with ease but these people where veterans of blood. He entered slowly, lugging his club behind him across the sand, picking up stray bits of glass, wood splinters and the odd bone piece. His right arm shimmered in the sun, the armour speckled with blood while the left half of his torso was covered by a small shield. Uproar. The crowd heaved and roared ever louder as they saw the first fighter enter from the shadows, the odd shout did make it do the Urchin's ears as he strode across to the centre. "Look at the size of this guy!" and "Ha, how is he gonna survive the Spiked Spartan?" God only knew how much he despised the masses, he picked up some glass from the floor, thought about setting it about him then rejected the idea and lobbed it into the crowd, catching a man's arm and shearing the flesh away. Silence for a second and Urchin lapped it up before the cheers grew even louder. "Hopefully that did it," he muttered to himself. Then, he heard the crowd grow cold and quiet, as if they where paying their respects. He turned right to face the other entrance, out of the shadows came a monster, terrifying, hulking with spiked jutting from most angles. He snorted and held a club over his shoulder, His helmet stopped any traces of humanity to be discovered. His skin was scaly and almost rotten in appearance. The Urchin took a few steps back, half in respect and half to give the man a chance to sprint at him. He took the bait. Urchin was ready for this, he jumped to the left and rolled trying to catch the man with a swing from his club. He missed and it thudded into the dirt causing a wave of shock to channel up his arm. Shank was already turned and ready for the offensive, Urchin misjudged the man, he was more calculating than anyone else he had fought, he was used to being able to play on an enemies conscience over attacking a child but none was to be found here. The man walked over this time calm and composed, the clash would begin here. Urchin drew his club up behind, still not quite strong enough to hold it in the air for long, He knelled in the sand and hoisted his shield over his head while his right arm covered his remaining torso, his club was now drawn to his side and ready to strike. The man stooped for a second and waited, "Hurry up you idiot I want this over and done with so I clean your blood of my hands." The man snorted again and charged with his club high over his head, ready to bring it down, he clashed onto the shield but before he could withdraw Urchin swung around his shield smashing into Shank's back, glass shards fell deep into his haunches but Urchin was terrified as he realised the man seemed not to feel the attack. He hit the man again, this time less powerfully as he did not have time to build momentum, he brought the barbed wire over the man's neck and pulled it back but the man withdrew laughing. "My God, what have you done to yourself?" Urchin whispered, The man felt nothing, not from his attack nor the impaling from the dagger in his shield that had dug into his body. Shank prepared himself and smashed his bat across Urchin's shield, Urchin was caught by the force and crashed a few feet of from where he was, his shield as dislodged and lay in the corner, Shank charged again, Urchin had no time to stand and he was caught by one of the brute's spikes, blood poured from a wound in his shoulder and Urchin clutched it. Tears jutted from his eyes and he fell to the floor, the man stood over him and was about to bring the final blow crashing onto his head when success, Urchin bludgeoned the titan's balls, the blow sent the spiralling back screaming, "Thought you might be able to feel that," he grabbed the shield and darted on top of the man, bringing his shield onto him with the combined force and weight of his dive, the dagger in the wood drove straight into the man's body and when Urchin withdrew, the man was coughing, he lifted the man's helmet to find a grotesque image of twisted humanity, his mouth was bleeding and his eyes where battered. Urchin decided it was time to end, the man deserved a quick death. "Sorry!" He brought a blow crashing from left to right over the man's helm, damn, he still flailed around, in one last attempt to kill Urchin, he clubbed his leg, knocking him back and sending him to his knees, Urchin sped his work up and hammered at the man's body, in three slow movements, it was over. "Are you happy?" He roared at the crowd, "This is what you wanted? Then cheer for your victor your bastards!" He left, dragging his club behind him, back into the shadows. The man would have shown no remorse, what he did was right and just, but he hated this, and it was only a matter of time before he would have to fight someone better. Injuries chest is battered, blood damage to shoulder and bruising all over, left leg is also damaged by last attack. |

Winner: Iris Good work, both of you. Very good work. I'm impressed at how you both kicked it up a gear for the fight. This was close In the end, it goes to Iris though. Her fight had a better flow to it, and that kept me pulled in. Iris had me feeling like I was standing in the sand watching the fight, whereas Golgothas felt a little slower and more distant. The descriptions and imagery in Iris' post were more lively and vivid too. However, like I said, very close fight. Keep it up in future. |
