The wind blew some dust along as Cass gazes along the horizon. Since she left home, she has yet to see a town. She needs to find a town.

She left home of her own choice, the jobs had become dry and useless. The angry mob was really just the slamming of the door for her. But she couldn't live without a town. In the Wastes, it was raiders. While they were a moderate threat, and a good source of supplies, they offered her no jobs, and so they bored her. She was ready for a new town... Now she just needed to find it.

Cass wandered along in the hot sun, her collar turned up to her hair on the back of her neck and her hat pulled to shade her face. She was not born for this. This was the life for Mole Rats and the uncivilized. She needed something. Her gun was on empty, and she had only a few rations of water and food. She needed to find a source... She needed prey.

-------------

Cass had wandered a few hours, drinking two of her five water rations, and it was barely past breakfast. She had to find something, and she would. There was obviously something else, the money and trade came from somewhere... Where was it? As she surveyed ahead of her, she spotted something on the rise ahead. She was relieved. 'Finally' she thought, 'this is getting ridiculous....'

She walked still, hurrying meant need. Cass needed nothing, she only wanted. That and the sun was very draining and fatiguing. She came upon the shape a few yards off, her demeanor dimming further. She wasn't let down, that would imply hope. Cass never hoped, she only knew.... at least, that's how she tries to play it. What she had come upon was no town, but was nothing too bad. It was a wastelander, sitting and baking in the sun, his skin an odd hue of ochre, from the tanning and burning of the sun. 'Well, it is something I can use.' She thought as she approached the sedentary form in her trademark cool demeanor and unassuming posture, belying her her currently sweaty and rather uncomfortable state.

"You, lady! Can you spare me some water? I'm dying here. I was on my way to town. I went out to scavenge some ammo. The way out wasn't too hard ,but the way back, in this heat at this time of day, is killing me. I ran out of water on the way there. Can you spare some?" He pleaded.

Cass looked at him from under her hat and through her toroiseshell glasses at the man, raising an eyebrow at him. "Town?" she said coolly, her voice causing the man to shiver, an obviously odd reaction for the heat.

"Yeah, Bucket Town. It's over yonder a ways. Can you please spare some water? I'll let you have the ammo I got." He bartered, holding up a pair of small ammo boxes.

Cass raised her eyebrows even more, her face now a kind, gentle, and very subtly false vision. "Sure." She said, handing the man a bottle.

"Oh, bless you! You are an angel on Earth!" He cried as he quickly snatched the bottle and tossed her the box of ammo.

As the man struggled with the bottle cap, which was on very tightly, Cass inventoried the ammo and loaded her revolver. She spun the cylinder with a quick "Whizz" before flicking it shut and tucking away the box in her coat. The man had just managed to loosen the cap when she said, "On second thought. I need that water..." as she fired her newly loaded gun at the man, hitting him right through the chest with the round. The man fell to the ground, dead as the dust around him, the bottle landing nearby. Cass leaned down and picked up the bottle. She secured the top, but left in loose enough to open again and tucked the bottle away with the rest of her remaining rations. Those bottle lids always were very pesky and tight.

She walked on, leaving the man to bleed on the ruin around him, likely attracting predators. She didn't care, she'd be gone by then. The man was very fortunate in the nature of his encounter with her. She toyed with him far less than her previous contracts, and he at least had hope when he died. She got what she needed, and she moved on. there was no profit for her here any longer.

Cass replaced the used bullet with a fresh one from her new box, tucked both away, and, without a single backward thought or glance, moved on towards her new target: Bucket Town. The name held little promise, but towns did mean groups of people, however small, and people always have problems with others, and always tend to have something she wants.

OOC: I know it was short. I just wanted to try my hand at this, see how i do, and make (or lose...) a bit of karma in the process. besides, why would a girl like her leave the fruitful lands of her home? Now we know. I hope I did well for my first mini-questy-story-thing...

You did good, don't worry. By the looks of it, your going to end up being a very bad person. The kind of lack of respect for law or life type of evil, not the corrupt enforcement of law and honor type.
