"Nature-based religion from a long-ass time ago." Darrel shrugged, slicing open the stomach of his own mole rat and succeeding in spilling stomach acid all over what had the potential of being a possibly good cut of mole rat. Unfortunately, his stomach had nothing in it at this point. Sighing, Darrel set back into his task of skinning the rat, having successfully ruined all of the remaining meat.

"I read it in a book a while ago on my way to Bucket Town," Darrel continued, wiping his knife blade on the ground as he finished off another bit of skin. "The book sold for seventy-five caps, but it had a lot of good information in it." He shrugged, dragging another molerat over to him and beginning the gutting process anew.

Judas grunted as he cut open his mole rat's stomach. There were a few large caliber bullets in it. Apparently, this was one of the ones that had the bad luck and judgment to take on an M60-wielding tribal. There were also broken down hints of fabrics and the sole of a boot. Nothing useful, but it was scary, that these mole rats had been developing and were able to prey on hunters, trappers, and scavengers.

"I imagine these mole rats were figuring to jump one or two people at the max," Judas said. "They may have been getting smarter, but a mole rat is still a mole rat, and they'd need numbers on their side to really be able to take out the number of people that they did." Judas glanced over at the other mole rats. He wondered if there was anything good in their stomachs...

"One or two at the most. And they ate damn near everything on their last victims. Look at this, unspent bullets, a closed switchblade, a chunk of someone's boot, a belt buckle and what I really hope is not a glass eye," Caleb muttered as he observed the still-stinking former contents of the Molerat's stomach. He crouched next to the half-eaten remains of the Molerat's latest victim and started going through the pockets, laying everything out on the ground near the body. Given that his tribe weren't exactly normal Tribals, they didn't bother with all that Ramma Ramma burying the dead's possessions with them. As far as they saw it, the Circle of Life passed the relics of the dead along to those who still lived. And worms wouldn't taste the difference between a man with a blade and a man without.

Caleb then stood up and observed their little haul. He hadn't opened the pouches that hadn't been mangled by the Molerats, so he wasn't sure what was in there. He was going to wait until Darrel and Judas were ready to open them. Otherwise, he'd have an unfair advantage when it came to choosing loot. That or he'd be susceptible to the urge to divvy up the loot himself and screw them. And that wasn't right. They were his Brothers in the Hunt. For now anyway. He looked around and waited for them to skin and cut up their Molerats, sitting down and laying his pistol out on a piece of linen taken from one of the pouches on his belt. He performed a full field strip then and there, shaking the sand out of every part before carefully brushing the remaining grains out with a bristly piece of Molerat skin, one of the parts with fur. Once that was done, he checked on the other two again to see how they were getting on with their Molerats.

"Well, time to divvy up the haul then," Caleb said as he got back to his feet.

"Alright then." Darrel finished cutting away a chunk of particularly choice Mole Rat meat (pah, like choice molerat even exists) and wrapping it up in the pile of skin shreds and other chunks of rat meat before making his way over to Caleb. He noted that the hunter had tied up what remained of the loot in three smallish sacks. It really, really, really didn't look like there was much worth looting from it. Oh well, take what you can and all that.

Darrel sat down, lifted each one of the sacks independently, checking for weight, sound, etc. before putting it down and moving on to the next. Finally, he settled on a bag and plucked it out of the sand, turning to the other waster.

"Judas, your turn to pick."

Judas took his time with the last mole rat, making sure to maximize the kind of hides he cut out and get as many good pieces of meat, preferably ones without visible signs of disease. Eventually, Judas finished his task and stood up. Darrel and Caleb had already developed a system for loot, where the large tribal put everything into three small bags while Darrel and Judas picked which ones they wanted.

Judas grunted at Darrel in response to his "Your turn to pick." Judas casually strolled over, hefted each bag to test it, then made his decision, scooping up the small pouch and leaving the last one for Caleb. "Suppose it's your turn, Caleb," he said.

Caleb nodded to Judas, crouched and picked up his loot bag. He'd switched them around so many times he wasn't sure what was in any of the bags any more. Best way to divvy up loot fairly. Random chance. Weighing it up in his hand, he tied it to his belt and turned to face Judas and Darrel. They were good hunters. Especially considering neither of them really looked like it. Darrel looked a little too clean to be running around the Wastes non-stop hunting things with teeth, claws and attitude problems. Judas fit the bill a little more, but still didn't look like a hunter as Caleb knew them. Probably the lack of tattoos or war paint.

"Right, where to now?" Caleb asked of them. He was planning on heading back to Bucket Town and eat in peace, but if either of these two had anything more interesting in mind, Caleb couldn't find a reason not to tag along for a while. As long as they didn't mind him not talking all that much.

"Don't matter to me." Darrel shrugged. "More than likely, I'll be headed back to town for some quiet time myself." Quiet time indeed. There would probably be Signbacks banging on the town's walls by the time he got there, with his luck. But Darrel went where the money was best, and right now the money was best in Bucket Town, mainly because he didn't want to wander the desert for months looking for a bed and a few hot meals a day.

"What about you, Judas?" The thief inquired, tying his pouch into his belt-loops.

"What about you, Judas?" the thief asked.

Judas thought on that for a second. Yeah, he could strike out alone. He'd done it before. But he didn't want to head out just yet. For one, there was the possibility of running into those signbacks in the wastes, which wouldn't be good for Judas' health. And, of course, the state the animals were in right now didn't bode well for Judas either.

"Ordinarily, I'd head out for some new ground. But I lost my tent on the way here, and I'll need some sort of shelter before I even think about heading out. I'm kinda lacking on provisions, too, and I don't really wanna run into signbacks when I'm out and about on my own. I think I'll head back to Bucket Town for now, get some food and do some work, then head out again."
