I was thinking, should we make weapon modifications a type of item? That is, you could get your hands on a bayonet, flashlight or a scope? Melee weapons could get hiltguards, and maybe even be sharpened on the reverse blade. Energy weapons could be modified to 'overload', and store up on energy for a powerful, although dangerous attack. Grenades can be designed to go off faster or slower.

Should they be included, should they not? Any thoughts or ideas on different modifications? As of now, I'm sort of in between, I different types of weapon to be unique, but I also think it would be nice to for a sniper character to customise his pistol with a screw on stock.

I reckon that as a Character's reputation and bank account grow, they can hire artisans, gunsmiths and the like (as much as a Post-War Wastelander can be called such) to modify their weapons for a higher fire rate or add scopes etc, or buy special ammunition from arms dealers, like HotShot Cells (high-power, low capacity energy cells) or teflon-coated bullets etc.

And the higher their Reputation (combination of their fame and infamy with all factions), the more skilled their gunsmith will be. Whether Fame or Infamy is higher dictates where to find such an artisan.

As an aside note:

Fame: How much a given faction likes you, and how well known you are. Varies with different factions. Raising Fame with one faction may raise Fame with another, while raising Fame with another faction may raise your Infamy with others.

Infamy: If you can't be famous, be infamous. This amounts to how much a given faction dislikes/fears you, and how well known you are in that faction. Raising Infamy with a faction may raise Infamy with others, while raising Infamy with another may raise your fame with other factions.

Reputation: How well known you are in your area. A combination of Fame and Infamy with all factions.

Fame and Infamy gains and losses caused by a given quest are dependent on the Admin/Mod's discretion, and based on how you went about your mission.

Weapon mods should be allowed, however only if they are plausible. If the character has a background in it, and has experience in the art of repairing weapons they should be able to do it. However they can not be able to right off the bat, unless you decide to tape a baseball bat to a shotgun.

Well, it will be allowed to make your weapons unique, and suited to your character.

For instance, if you get a... barbedwire whip. You could change it to be a chain whip, or make your sledgehammer a specially modified warhammer, as long as you still have the original name in your inventory.

I suggest skill requriments that relate to the weapon.

Well, it's going to be expected that a high strength low agility character will be adept with a sledgehammer, while rather poor with a dagger. When you make a character, you should have a general idea of what he'll be doing. If your 1 charisma character is making easy friends, and is having wondeful conversation with other characters. Well. Your gonna get dinged. Heavily. Until you stop doing it.

Well, it depends on how their Charisma 1 is played off. Being ignorant and repulsive is one thing, while being boring and narcissistic is another. Either could have a decent conversation with an individual willing to put up with them, or someone who knows them (like my character, Charisma 1, but he gets on with his tribe, not so much with other people).
