Allen de Braan walked towards the Bucket Town Church, Flame Collins following him. The former walked with a sense of purpose, his red robes vivid in the sunlight, while the latter asked: "Is this smart, Allen? I mean, the Salivators sort of dislike us for using their Church without permission twice." Flame had been told of the plan; he still didn't like it. True, he knew that the curse on the Church-clinic was all hokey and would go away as soon as the people of Bucket Town stopped believing in it, but he still felt as though he were lying to them about important stuff. Especially as Eleanora, who normally didn't see eye-to-eye with Allen, had agreed to help. The nature of said help was shady as well; how was he and Allen going to make sure that they'd actually help? Flame's next realization, that he no longer trusted Eleanora so closely, was interrupted when a scrawny but tall Salivator stopped Allen just outside the Church, pointing a small pistol at him and Flame. The man would then say: "I don't know who you are, but this cowboy here isn't welcome in this place after using it without our say so - two times!" Allen looked the scrawny but tall man in the eye, right hand holding his staff while the left one brought his cross out. The Sulphur Priest then replied. "I have come here to bring this cowboy's apologies and that of his cousin's, to mend fences and break bread with the kind and charitable Salivators. And to prove that I am sincere, I make a sincere offer: I will call upon God himself to remove the curse that people believe lies over this place, if you would just hearken to my words..." Allen's voice was both deep and crooning, and Flame couldn't have said more inspiring words himself unless he tried harder than usual. The Salivator withdrew his weapon, saying, "I...uh...I'll go call Mr. Spears! You two stay right here!" And then he ran off, saying, "Mr. Spears, Mr. Spears!" Flame looked at Allen, then said, "I hope this Exorcism works." It will; people just have to believe. That and Eleanora has to have Tom, Dick, and Harry do their thing. At the mention of what the female mercenary and friends were going to do, Flame would shudder, and say, "I feel sick." Allen returned Flame's look with a warm gaze, then said, "It will be all right. The curse on this place will be gone...one way or another." And with that, the Salivator returned, saying, "Mr. Spears says you get an hour. Also, he says you might want these..." He hands over two aged bottles marked with engraved crosses to the Sulphur Priest, causing the latter to exclaim: "Holy Chrism and Holy Water! This will do nicely!" ~~~~~ Eleanora Fraticelli was in the countryside behind the church, so distant that she and her subordinates, Tom, Dick, and Harry, could not be seen by anyone in Bucket Town itself. Which, in turn, was the plan; she needed to keep out any snoops or people who were just there at the wrong time while her trio of goons, armed with mirrors fashioned from salvaged scrap and aluminum foil, prepared to give a spectacle that the town would remember. She smirked; the Sulphur Priest did have good ideas every now and then. And if this succeeded, her reputation would increase until she literally became the town's benefactor. And if it didn't succeed, well, she'll just wash her hands of Flame and Allen. Those two were expendable, in the end. She looked at the sun's position in the sky; it was slightly less blinding than it had been at Noon. It was time to begin. ~~~~~ Allen was now reciting: "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name, thy Kingdom come, your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day Our Daily Bread, and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the test, but deliver us from Evil." He would then spray Holy Water on the exterior of the Church, on the front, then the sides, and the back, circling it while continuing his prayer: "For the Kingdom and the Power is yours, now and forever, Amen." He would then enter the Church, and raise his cross inside, then say in a roaring voice: "Foul Demon! Your work here in this Holy Place is abjured! You are rejected here, unwelcome in a place dedicated to God and his work!" Three flashes of light would shine in the countryside behind the Church; a sign that Eleanora and the others have managed to coordinate... |

The wind was conviniently picking up, causing the sand to kick up and the tumbleweeds to bounce around. This added to the spectacle as Allen continued to intone, "In the name of The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit, I abjure you, Devil, and order you to leave this place!" Three more flashes of light behind the church in the countryside; Allen, Eleanora, and her three minions had reharsed this, knowing that in the absence of radio and walkie-talkies, they had to set up specific times to use the mirrors, specific times that in turn depended on primitive ways of telling time in general. That and using the 'Little Computer Buddy' that Flame had gotten as a Christmas Gift back in Christmas; that too helped calculate times. Outside the Church, meanwhile, a crowd was gathering to see what was happening, even as Flame explained in as firm a voice as possible, "Do not be alarmed, people of Bucket Town! My friend, the Sulphur Priest Allen De Braan, is merely driving out the evil spirits that were infesting and cursing the Church-Clinic! You have long been scared of the Curse, have you not? Well this is your chance to see it going, going, and gone!" His tone was surprisingly powerful, even as flashes of light continued to shine from the horizon, sounding like muzzle flashes of a great cosmic battle. Flame, with his own immense charisma, would try and sway the masses into believing in the Exorcism, into believing that the curse would go away soon. This time, all uncertainty that they were technically lying was gone; Flame now knew that the curse would fade once the people believed it was gone. "So much tragedy in this place! So much pain and sadness! But nothing is beyond the power of God!" It was Flame who said those words, suprisingly enough. He had never been much more than a casual believer, but at that moment, he believed. How that can be reconciled with his knowledge of the inner workings of the plan was best left unsaid. But now was the time to pass the torch back to Allen. The Sulphur Priest had repeared another Our Father and followed it up with a Hail Mary, before continuing on: "Devil, I command you, retreat from this hallowed place! You have not won! Evil has not won! Light still shines in this world!" Allen knew that those last flourishes were not valid parts of the Exorcism Rite, but no one would know that, right? "In the name of The Father, and of The Son, and of the Holy Spirit, BEGONE!" Three lights would flash upwards simultenaously from the horizon behind the Church itself, another sign of perfect coordination. Nothing bad was going on in Eleanora's end, it seemed. Nevertheless, Allen would walk out from the interior of the Church, breathing hard, exhausted and haggard-looking. But as smile was on his face as he said, "It is done! The Curse is lifted! Let none spill blood in this place after this, lest it return!" ~~~~~ The crowds would soon disperse, happy and optimistic at least once in their lives. Flame would be breathing hard as well, knowing that he can take back his and Allen's computer buddy from Eleanora soon. Allen was smiling as well as he recovered his strength. Then, the Salivator from before would walk towards them and say: "Mr. Spears says that we're even. You can come here whenever you like." Then, with a hard stare, he would continue, "But never, ever try that trick without our permission ever again. Others here might not know what mirrors are, but we do." He then relaxed his shoulders and said, "But hey, if people believe that the Curse is gone, then it's gone! We'd get more customers now after this...assuming the Curse is really hokey." Allen would respond, "Well, let's hope that it was." |

Another short and sweet RP from my man BC. I think this was a cool idea and one you played pretty well, I'm interested to see what you do with the church in the future. Your dialogue, as usual, is on point. I especially liked Flames dramatic flair when speaking to the crowd, it played off his charisma and added to the theatrics of the event. I noticed a few spelling errors, and I'm not sure but I don't think some of the words you used should be capitalised in that context, 'kingdom', 'our daily bread', 'evil'. This is a small gripe and would be easily caught with some proofreading. I think it's pretty telling of your growth as a writer when my main issue is that I want more. This was a good scene, and well done, but I still would've liked a bit more to it, some setup for the payoff. Reading through your RP I came across two parts that made me think of scenes I would've liked to have seen, maybe a scene of scavenging and crafting the mirrors would've been cool, and the line 'Flame had been told of the plan; he still didn't like it. '. So Flame didn't like the plan, maybe we could've had a scene where Flame and Allen have a disagreement or argument over the plan, or maybe those two scenes could've been brought together. It would've added a bit more interaction between your characters and would've fleshed them out. All in all good job BC.
