To use this tool properly you need to use your mouse! When raising the elevation you can stop at an infinate number of hights (click here for an example)
This is one of the most useful tools in the game and is used by everyone from the noobiest designer to the godly ones! It can be used to make ramps which are used in thousands of scenarios and also can be used to make stuff like nottuds pits in his famous Pit o Doom scenario!
When you need to switch from this to any other tool you can either click on their button or press escape
When you are raising your elevation you can adjust the speed, ie. make the terrain raise faster or slower or change the brush size by pressing the button in the top right of the box. Adjusting

Sample Elevation:
Now that you've learned how to raise and lower land. Let's go onto Sample Elevation. Sample Elevation is a tool that copy a certain height and paste it to other land. It's very useful, since you don't have to raise/lower the land over and over again to get them to have the same height.
Let's say you have a body of water, and you wanted to create a pathway through it. First, use the Elevation Tool to raise the land.
Then click on the Sample Elevation button and right click on the elevation you wanted.
Now, left click to raise land to the memorized height!
You would get a pathway of equal heights!

Smoothening:
Smoothen is a tool that balance unequal adjancent lands.
Let's say you have a tall piece of land like this.
Now click on the Smoothen Tool button.
I would increase the brush size so that it would cover most of the land.
Then left click until it looks like what you want it to look.
Sample A It will work with mutiple ones also. Sample B.

Roughening:
The roughen tool it quite the opposite of the smoothen tool. The roughen tool trys to make adjancent land's height different.

Two ways of doing it:

Using Pitch
Pitch is the angle at which your camera is, very useful for taking screenshots or making a camera track.
First open the pitch editor, found here.
You will see many numbers, these are what pitch/angle you will be at- be careful some pitches may lag because of the amount of objects in view.
Pick a number and you will be at your desired pitch, like this.
Note: you must first tick the Camera Limit box to lock it in order to do pitch; however, you can tick is back after the pitch is done. Also ticked and unticked both work for on and off! It just depends on what you have at the beginning!

Zoom
Zoom is very useful for designing larger maps, instead of only looking at one piece at a time, you are looking at the whole thing as a whole.
To zoom out farther than it lets you click the magnifying glass at the right hand bottom of your of your screen, here.
Two magnifying glasses will appear here.
Click the right one to zoom out, and the left one to zoom in. After you have engaged that you can use the key board buttons, "-" and "+".
