Great New Book on Mastering Radio Controlled Fligh

Fellow Sport Flyers;

Have you ever wanted a book with concise, easy to understand, explanations of the aerodynamic principles important to R/C flight? How about diagrams that show all the precision aerobatic and 3D moves, with the stick positions included? Well, the wait is over – it’s here!

First, some background. About a year ago, my friend Scott Stoops (“Sukhoi26mx” on these pages) told me he was writing a book on how to be an R/C pilot, and asked me to look over some of the sections and see what I thought. Scott represents an aeronautical “trifecta” – he’s a commercial pilot flying 767’s, he flies full-scale aerobatics in a Sukhoi, and he’s an accomplished R/C pilot. As many of you on this forum already know, he is also an extremely nice guy and has been very generous about sharing his knowledge and experience with all of us.

I was immediately struck by how much valuable information was contained within the pages that Scott sent me, and how clearly he was able to communicate and explain not only basic concepts of aerodynamics but also the way that these concepts apply to the R/C world. His approach of combining drawings of a plane performing maneuvers with diagrams of the corresponding stick movements was both innovative and effective. I encouraged him to continue with the project.

Today, after a tremendous effort on Scott’s part, the book is a reality. It has been rightly received with praise from all quarters, including endorsements from some of the biggest names in R/C flying. I would venture to say that, regardless of your skill level and experience in R/C flying, you will find this book to be a valuable resource, and I recommend it to anyone interested in improving his R/C piloting skills. It is written in a very straightforward and accessible style, and Scott’s enthusiasm for the subject matter comes through on every page. You can read more about the book and place an order by visiting Scott’s website at
