Is there any kind of forced (for lack of a better word) servitude other than Leash Holders/Leashed Ones? Something that is unrelated to magical ability? If not, could I possibly add one for use with character? It would be something along the general idea of slavery. |

Hmmm... it could certainly be do-able... Were you looking to play both ends of the slave/master bit? Or did you have someone in mind for one end, etc? The only other note on it I would have is that they would not be originally from Carthan, as their fight against the Shiranai is greatly based on freeing those who are enslaved, which leads me to make the assumption that Queen Alliandre would not make it legal with in her borders. I assume because I play Alliandre, so its all good! lol If you're lost for a nationality, I would definitely suggest Semhar. Richy snobs and all, they have "indentured servants" from other countries... pretty close to slavery... Or Gnard... they're very closed off from the rest of the world so pretty much anything could happen there... >.> <.< We have a set of twins from there that had a pretty intense past. Anyway, the short answer is, yes, fine with slaves, lol! Let me know if you have any other questions, Shyla or I will always be glad to answer!

The only reason I needed to know was because that is going into his background. He won't currently be a slave, but his experience in being "indentured" plays a pretty big part in his personality, as would be expected. I'm still puzzling out how he was freed though; did he escape? Or was he freed by someone, by his master, etc. Either of those would work, so I'll have to play around with the idea for a little longer. |

I was going to say maybe Kostroma would, considering they treat second-born sons like slaves in a way...but I'll shush up and leave things to the TRUE admin.

I was looking at Kostroma earlier, and liked its history, but my char is still a pretty vague idea at the moment. I actually got another idea. Something along the lines of this: He is the second-born son to a prosperous merchant or something along those lines. His father wishes to kill him off, but for the sake of his sickly wife, doesn't want her to know that her son was murdered. He hands his son off to one of his guards and orders him to kill the child. However, instead of killing him, the guard takes the boy in and raises him as his own. Later on, that boy is employed by the merchant after his father retires.... OR My char could have been kept alive, but given to the guard to raise and proclaimed dead to everyone else. So he grows up as a servant to his own father, not even knowing that the man is his father. His father does know that the boy is his son, and so treats him in the manner of anyother father in Kostroma who keeps his second-born son alive. OR If I were to include the slavery issue, the boy could have been kept alive. The family knows who and what he is, but eveyone else, including the boy, knows their second son to have died at birth. He knows of himself as an orphan graciously taken in by his master, etc. A pretty main-stream idea... There are a couple of other variations I have as well...I could probably go on for a while. |

Assuming that the Statistics of our characters should be reflected in character, what stats would best fit the trade of a fletcher? I'd think dexterity, but how many points would be required for that to be a worthy skill? My char might end up being a fletcher's apprentice...goes along with his unorthodox weapon usage. Or part of a weapon at least. EDIT: Also, thanks for the compliment (I'm taking it as a compliment). I've only really been RPing for upwards of 2 years, but I've always had an "overactive" imagination. I'm just glad to have found a site like this. I've joined (not including this one), only two other sites that have had an experienced and/or talented community, which ultimately makes the site worthwhile. I don't have anything against inexperienced writers, but when there are posts that, at their longest, are three sentences...forget it. Especially when it is in reply to a post 5-10X longer. |

I couldn't agree more! lol We really do try to strive for good quality posts here, anyone who doesn't seem up to par is usually gently prodded into it. Heh. Anyway, I would say, a fletcher sounds like a decent amount of dexterity somewhere in the above average to well above average range (can't remember specifically what the numbers are for that) and a decent amount in knowledge as well, as its obviously a learned trade. Usually a fletcher is also a decent bowman soooooo, a good amount in strength too... okay thats more than enough out of me! |

*smiles* I like it when new members ask so many questions. It is good to see that you are actively involved in learning how to set up your character. I read through your bio and I completely loved the whole thing. It is always good to have more Kostromans in the world. And i'm glad that you enjoyed the history for Kostroma. I wrote it. *winks* You have a good day. |

Now if we can get more of everything else...some people don't like being the only human-esque being from a certain country.
