While I am sure this message will be answered with excuses, objection and negative comments, someone needed to speak the truth. This site has become inactive by the majority of it's members. I have only seen 'Dartsvond and the Resistance' pop up under the 'Latest Posts' besides the thread 'A Familiar Stranger' between Jason, Gabe and myself, within the last month. There were a few posts throughout October but not much. Now this is where whoever reads this is probably objecting or making their excuses of how busy they been and how they don't have time. Except there is one problem with that, everyone has lives and is busy but I would think that if you enjoy writing and do it for fun you would find time for it. I for example have a husband, 3 yr old son, family, friends, events and chores that I am constantly occupied with and still I find time to write on this site. Not because I feel I have to or that anyone has bothered me to do so but because I enjoy writing. Writing is my passion, it makes me happy and it brings me a sort of peace and happiness. Now I am not trying to say that I am perfect and everyone else needs to be like me but I am saying that I thought the reason people were a part of this site was because they like to write and yet nothing has been really put up around here. Enter more objections I am sure about there being nothing to reply to. Well that is still no excuse. You could start a new thread that is before or after the thread your char is in, like the next day or the day before or you could do a past post much like 'Strawberry Fields' by Alex in Zacapa. Or you could do a journal piece, find a song that fits your char or message the other members of your current thread and see if they will be responding soon or if perhaps the thread is finished and a new one could start. You can ask other members if they are interested in a plot that you could partake in, etc. Look at 'A Familiar Stranger', we all discussed it and decided we wanted some action so we're taking on a small horde of zombies. IF you are truly over swamped and don't have the time then you need to make a note of such in the Leaves of Absence such as Wendi/Aera did for her birthday. I guess what I am saying is there is honestly nothing you can't do if you put your mind to it but you have to want to. If you find posting and being active to be a headache and a chore then perhaps you should consider a new hobby. It is only considerate to those of us who do enjoy writing and want to be apart of this community. I only put this up because I only want what is best for everyone and for this site as well. ~Jenny P.S. Eve, Katie; this is your site not mine and I am not an Admin but perhaps an Activity Check is in order and a cleaning out of the member list. There are doubles, members with 0 posts and this might be keeping any possible new recruits from joining. And maybe you can look into new advertising to bring in more willing members to help breath life back into this place. Personally I would hate to see what happened to LT happen here as well. |

I just popped in to see how things where, in truth to see if there was any life in this place to start roleplaying because I feel this is a great site but Im a fasted paced writer, like most of the roleplaying community and I cant roleplay on such a stagnant site. I agree totally with this post by a person I do not know Though I really want to start roleplaying on here properly, and it would not take much work to start a proper advertisement campaign and get some fresh blood onto the forums. More life might even tempt old members to return to roleplay here.I have quite abit of experiance working with past successful roleplay sites, if you want a hand putting together some plans to get some activity on site I will gladly put the time into doing it. Ill even do the drudging task of a mass advertisement campaign. |

Well, I will be the first to admit that I have been one of the worst for posting frequently. No excuses, it is what it is. Life happens. Obviously this site IS a bit slower paced than many out there but that has a lot to do with the average age of our members (we're pretty much all college age+ adults with full time jobs, family obligations etc.) who DO come here to relax and have a good time, not spend endless hours in front of the computer posting back and forth. Let me clarify that there is nothing wrong with being an active member, clearly we encourage it!! Also, we strongly believe in quality over quantity. We want well thought out, well written, plot advancing posts. Sites that have new posts going up in threads constantly tend to be brief and do not demand the type of quality we expect here. If you're looking for a site that offers hundreds of new posts from half again as many members, this probably isn't for you. That being said, of course we want members to be active here and it does make for sad cakes when things are being slow. As Jenny said, there are always other options to up your own activity even if you are "waiting" on posts. Jenny, you have my full blessing to conduct a thorough activity check and report to Katie and I your findings, we will thusly retire inactives. Also, if you want to take on a project I would be THRILLED to have an ad campaign started. You may coordinate it however you like and Katie and I will be around to help when needed. I WILL try to be more active, but I won't make promises that I can't keep. Clearly we want the site to stay and remain active, slumps are a natural part of the process but if we do not give up on it, there will always be a revival. We're not going anywhere, we'll get back up to speed, hang in tight, don't lose hope and keep posting!! "If you post, they will come..."

Well now, I guess I don't really have to much to add. Eve said basically what I was thinking. I know I haven't been around much, and i'm not going to apologize for it because I got a new job and I really need the money. UUUuuh, so yeah, I know we've all been really busy and that's totally understandable. This is a nice little corner of the world where friends get together and write, but we must also be understanding when life and jobs take those friends away, perhaps months at a time. We have been slow before, and we will be again, but there is always an up swing. As to new members, of course we're down with new people. But as Eve said, we do stress quality over quantity and that's just always going to be the way it is. So, please, yes, we can advertise, but even the new people have to realize that some people have busy lives and, anyway in regards to my situation, if you are in a thread with me, it will take me a long time to get back to you just because I now have to work nights and sometimes don't get home until midnight. But, like to today, I had a day off (rare though it is) and I made time for the site. Hmmm....I guess I'm saying that I don't really blame anyone for being gone or being silent. I know there is stuff to do around here, but if posting turns into a job it stops being fun. I guess i understand the lull because there's always going to be more activity in the future. To anyone that's upset about that, I'm really sorry, from the bottom of my heart. Try and make due for now. We'll see what we can do about advertising and getting some new members, otherwise take a deep breath and relax. We're not going anywhere and not closing anytime soon. I think both Eve and I love this site too much to let that happen. So to everyone, I wish happy posting, perhaps this thread has ignited the fires of posting in your hearts? Perhaps not, either way, I love you all, and will be here to post with you, when I can.
