| Appearance | Gawyn is taller than average with a well toned muscular frame from years in his profession. He has flame red hair and gray-blue eyes that tend to shift between the two to reflect his mood. Though the war with the Shiranai and the decade after has taken its toll on his physique in a firmer jaw and sterner eyes, his ready grin is still reminiscent of the mischievous trickster he has always been. In keeping with the rest of the Guild, he tends to wear black clothing that does not hinder movement. |
| Personality | Gawyn has always been, and likely always will be, a joker, a drinker and a lover. He has fantastic charisma that seems to draw everyone to him and very few who know him can confess to disliking him. He handles his those in his Order with a gentle but firm hand, always ready with praise and encouragement for those in need yet hard as stone on those in need of discipline. Long known as a gambler and a womanizer, Gawyn is constantly in search of the woman who will make him forget the one who got away. |
| History | Gawyn was a trickster from birth, or so his mother will tell anyone who will listen. Growing up in the slums of Kalimshere it was easy to fall in with the local bands of street urchins, pick pocketing in the trading district and other less than lawful activities. His father was a blacksmith and his mother was a washer woman for the richer merchants and their hard work barely kept food on the table and rags on their bodies, a fact that was a source of constant dismay for the young Gawyn. Through his "work" with the local gangs, gifts of coin, clothes or food would show up in strange places through out the house and his parents happiness at their good fortune motivated him to continue this rather profitable business. As he grew, Gawyn became more and more adept, honing his skills to a fine point. By the time he was fifteen years old, he had accumulated his own pack of urchins, trained them, and made his own gang of thieves. One of the youngest members of his crew was caught by one of the Council lackeys that had control of the city at the time. Intent on defending the lad, Gawyn jumped in front of the fists being thrown and consequently was beaten severely for "interfering." After that day, Gawyn's father was insistent that he "learn to defend himself." For his sixteenth birthday he was given quarterstaff of iron wood, light, but nearly unbreakable and his father trained with him for an hour or more every evening after closing the forge. Gawyn learned quickly and was soon an adept. At the same time, he was expanding his crime syndicate, learning the art of shadowing people, picking locks on vaults and mansion doors and not just pockets anymore. The evening before his eighteenth birthday, some members of the Council's information branch had pegged him as the head of the rumored Guild that had been reformed within the city. Gawyn came home that night to see his mother crying over his father's broken dead body. That night he swore he would find the real leader of this "Legacy" and join to stop the corruption that could allow an innocent man to be killed. In his father's forge, he crafted a hooked blade, jagged on one edge and attached it to the ironwood staff his father had given him making the ashandrei he carries now. Months later he met Kinara De'Nakashta and made good on his vow. Due to his vast knowledge of the city and already well rounded skills in the areas of stealth and speed, Gawyn quickly climbed the ranks to the position of Captain of the Fire Order. He and Kinara became close, though never lovers, friends and near-siblings. Gawyn followed his Commander until the day she died fighting the leaders of the invading Shiranai. He now does his part in helping to raise her daughter, Amara Mandragoran, enjoying the title of "Uncle." To this day he has only two regrets: that he did not come home early enough to save his father, or die trying to, and losing to time the only women he's truly loved: Eiella Darkeyes. A leading member of his sworn enemy, the Council. Fate brought Gawyn and Eiella together several times, even allowing her to leave the Council and be found within the Guildhall walls, but somethings were not meant to be and its seemed their relationship was one of those. Widely known as a womanizer, gambler and drinker, Gawyn keeps the fact that these are merely things to fill the space left by her to himself. |
