Terra is a large country composed mainly of rolling hills with heavy forest to the south, on its border with Carthan, and a large mountain range to the north. Terra finds its wealth in the form of iron weapons and other war-making goods known throughout the world from the vast amounts of iron ore found within the northern mountains. Many wars are fought between Terra and the mostly vampiric denizens of Karash who seek to rape, pillage and burn beyond the border. Terra is the buffer between the evils of the North and the softer countries to the South. Carthan has been its long standing ally as Terra’s only route to the prosperous sea trade in exchange for this safety and unbeatable Terran guns for their merchant ships and navy.
The River Telan is another of this warrior country’s buffers against any threat of invasion. As much as three miles of water stretch between the banks and its deep, swift current is all but impossible to swim or forge. No one knows the true origin of the river, only that it comes from the lands beyond the mountains and it ends in a spectacular waterfall drop off the hundred foot cliffs of Terra’’s coastline just west of the Sister Cities, Denosgrad and Asfeld.
These cities are encircled by a massive wall that appears impossible for any human mason to have made and are constructed by no known rock in Terra. The legends say giants built these city walls, the walls of the Keep, and the great Terran Palace as a debt to Uther, the first King of Terra.
These mythological beings are also credited with the only bridge to ever reach across the dangerous waters of the Telan that no man could destroy. It is in Denosgrad, the capital, where the great Keep lies, home to the Palace and many other buildings of state and war. Across the bridge to the south is the second sister, Asfeld, and the great Southern Trade Road to Carthan, often called simply the South Road. To the west of the South Road, all the iron ore from the mountains is brought and melded into its many forms in the infamous “Fire District,” full of smithies, forges and all manner of shops dedicated to the art. To the East are the Merchant and Trading Districts, often called the “Bawling Quarter” due to raucous din of squabbling caused by the many competing merchants and traders.
The Terran flag is blue lion on a field of white, directly tied to their Kings. The rightful heirs are not distinguished by their birth order, but rather by their inborn ability to shift into the very animal that graces their banner.
The Terran people tend to be larger than in some more southern counties due to their heavy work in the mines, farmlands and smithies that sustain the country. They are usually of light hair kinning them with Gnard as the only other country besides the great Desert to have people with natural blonde hair. The working class of Terra makes up most of the population, while a smaller amount work as city officials. They are a people that believe that government is nothing more than an extension of the people’s voice. The Terran government is respected because they in turn respect the working class and farmers that put them in political power. Any official or King for that matter, that dares disrespect the people of Terra do not stay long at their civil post.
