Karash is a dark land inhabited by most of the evil of the world. It is run by Lord Vlad himself, recently returned from the darkness to lead his children back into another Golden Age. Any travelers that have gone into Karash has never come back alive. The country is the Northern most landmass and the unknowable reaches up around their north and western boarders. Their land is mostly harsh jagged rocks, no plant life to speak of, except for the occasional dead tree. Their landscape is also marred by long canyons that separate much of the mainland and the capital. It is impossible to cross unless you are lucky and can fly. There may be a few bridges but it is unlikely that the vampires are that kind.
The climate of Karash is mostly dark and cool. They do get snow in the winters that would be very harsh on humans, but it doesn’t affect the vampires at all. In the summer months it is common for the active volcanoes to fume and sometimes erupt, but an eruption has not occurred in any of the living Vampire lord’s life time, only in Vlad’s and who can say how old he is.
The country of Karash is pretty much left unchecked by the rest of the world. Except for the Terran's, no one has anything to do with them. Terran interaction is limited to skirmishes along their northern boarder. It is said that only Terran soldiers can keep the Vampire's at bay. And for that fact Terra is well respected and well hated by the Karashi Lords that plot with Vlad to rule the land once again.
Vlad seeks only to dominate the rest of the world. He and the other clans have little love for one another and use their (orc, goblin and any other dark creatures) hordes to fight among themselves often, when they are not fighting along the Northern Boarder against Terra.
The Capital city of Karash is the city of Nix. This is the place where Vlad has his home castle, his home keep. It is almost impossible for foreigners to pass through, for it is a city divided by huge chasms that have no bridges to help any that cannot fly across. The capital is the only light throughout the Vampire nation. More than a few castles dot the dark landscape with the King’s castle centrally located.
The history of this country starts with the Vampire Lord Vlad. No one is sure of how old he is or where it is that he comes from but there are whispers that he is from the North Eastern lands off the map of Kostroma. With his armies he waged war on the known world for centuries until it was all under his preternatural rule. These are called the Dark Age in the history of the rest of the world, but in Vampire lore is was the Golden Age. But it was put to an end.
A people came from the west, so far west now that no one remembers their name. But they were a people of light, with a Sun on their banner. Their leader, whose name is only now remembered partially, was Artur. He lead a last stand against the evil reign and with his unique ability to call the sun before its time, he decimated the Vampire armies, killing all but Vlad, who still lives to this day, though no outsiders have seen him and lived to tell the tale.
After the battle where Vlad’s armies were destroyed Vlad took his remaining fledglings and ran to the Northern dark lands of Karash and hid. Through plotting and time Vlad did manage to assassinate Artur, but without sufficient numbers in his armies he could not return the vampire race to their once powerful standing. They remained in the dark Northern lands until they became the evil warring country that they are today.
There is one oddity about Karash that is almost a legend and has only been seen by a few Vampires who live to spread the rumor. The rumor is about a garden in Karash, in the great castle Vlad. It is said to be the Dark Lord’s most prized possession. It is rumored to be the most extravagant and lovely garden in the known worlds. There are supposedly ancient flowers that grow in his garden that no longer grow anywhere else. This is a great envy of the Gaoin’s who prized themselves on having fine flowers to sell dye from. No one ever mentions how this garden is grown or even where in the Castle it is kept. Usually, the rumor is spread to degrade Vlad and make him seem less of the evil dark Vampire that he is; for if he is soft enough to grow flowers, he is too soft to rule the land.
