Just thought it would be interesting to see the opinions of people in this clan concerning Force alignment. I personally embrace the Dark Side full-heartedly (as if you couldn't tell), but I have heard rumors of people who would prefer the Light... I don't know why, but I guess it's your decision. |

I can use both... but force powers are not light or dark in nature, is the person that uses the who decides what to do with it, so the power itself is not dark or light. |

Then you believe in the potentate philosophy of the unifying force, which argues that the force is completely unified and neutral, and light and dark are simply perceptions used to describe those who follow a different moral code or are possessed of different beliefs than another and do not really exist as natures or properties of the force itself. |

I tend to believe something of a similar, yet fundamentally different nature, that the force is a polar power consisting of both light and dark, so that the force as a whole is neutral but any one part may be constituted of equal or inequal amounts of light and darkness. And I guess I should add for the sake of preserving my own sanity that all of these postulations are ficticious, and I don't really think that there's a "force" that gives people supernatural powers in real life, at least not in the sense presented by Star Wars. |

I would have to agree with you guys. It's not the Force itself that is light or dark, but rather the will of the person(s) whom control the force. Take Anakin for example. He was once a Jedi and then became Sith. The hatred in his heart is what turned him to the darkside. So in closing, no dark or light force, just the force. Do what you will with it. **The force is ficticious, any attempt in using it will make you look like a complete bafoon** |

I think it goes without saying that the force is ficticious, but this is more a question of morals or mindset I think. If there was a force, and you were in the position of a jedi knight, which path would you choose? Do you sacrifice, or restrict yourself from, full potential, pleasure, or other such things in the interest of protecting the weak or preventing possibility of future catastrophy? Or do you indulge in your base emotions regardless of consequence and live an exciting, though possibly very short, life? Personally, I would fall under the category of dark side (with a name like Morthos, one should assume as much). The traditional jedi order's suppression of emotion sickens me. 2 swordsmen of equal skill in a duel to the death, one smug and arrogant (jedi, in case you didn't make the connection), one with hatred flowing through him (sith, duh). From the anger comes dedication, his hatred will MAKE him strike fast and precise, and blind him from compassion to remove any and all hesitation from striking a critical point. Not just anger, any emotion can increase your dedication. With anger, winning will put your mind at ease, and losing to that opponent would be unbearable if you weren't dead. Love, losing may endanger those you care about, winning will show that opponent what lines you just don't cross. The traditional jedi order would have none of it, because they don't want any such situation to arise when you would need to use such tactics. They figure, you don't want those you care about to be harmed, suppress all emotion and act like a eunuch and there won't be a problem. To live ones life without passion is to not live at all, and to remove such a weapon from your arsenal in the name of such a misguided moral code can be called nothing other than idiotic. My life may be shorter, but at least it's worth living. This has been Morthos, with one long friggin post about the dark side. I'll end it here. See ya. |

Keep in mind that by choosing the light side you probably wont really "live" because you cant give in to your emotions, and lets face it, whats life without love, hate and everything between? yes, I know the life of a true jedi my not sound worth living it from that point of view (for most people), but to protect every single living being is more important, sacrifice one to save two (you get the idea) that is enough to make someone's life meaningful. |

Personally, I find that if they are too weak to protect themselves in the situation a jedi normally helps them with, they don't deserve to be saved. If they spend their life entirely dependant on others to save them, then they are weak and will eventually fall victim to natural selection, the jedi only delay it. If you do enjoy protecting them, who's to say you can't do it with the dark side as well? If a gang of people are about to jump some random guy and steal his money, who's to say a nearby darksider can't force-lightning the shit out of em and give the guy his wallet back? Sure, most people who "fall" to the dark side are weak of will and go on some crazy power trip and attempt galactic domination or purging, but I believe that to be a flaw in the human mind, not corruption of the dark side. The truly strong do not let it go to their head. And that's why you never hear about them. What's better content for a story, a dark jedi who slaughters people en masse for some elaborate scheme of galactic conquest, or a dark jedi who sits around drinking hot cocoa and watching tv until opportunity presents itself to spar somebody? |

Lucien just about summed up everything I believe in about the dark side. If you're strong you live, if you're weak you die. To reject emotions as the Jedi teach is to deny oneself the right to live, which comes through acquisition of strength, whether physical, mental, or otherwise, and emotions are what fuel the essence of life. The dark side and evil are not necessarily one and the same, and though many who are evil attempt to wield the darkness, simply rejecting the weakness of the light does not make one evil. |

Ok every1, now i explain you all something from my metaphisics point of view. The "force" as we called it in starwars, it exists in our world, its known by energy. They are 2 kinds of energy in our body, the inner energy and the outer energy. And they are 2 kinds of energy in the universe. Light and Darkness. Most of the ppl in this planet is born in the light. But everybody who is in the light can switch places only one time. This energy is the one that makes miracles. Or its the one who heal ppl. Is the one that permits you to develop your mind skills, and to perfectionate your soul. Any other question, just tell me... |

That, my friend, is an entirely different subject. That, being just one of many different beliefs, would fall under the category of religious discussion. And T-RCX, we think exactly alike, but you are much better with words. That captured my thoughts perfectly.

haha....oh
|
Another difference is the dark side force users normally beleive that the force serves them and that it is to be used how they see fit..the light say the force inessence uses them and binds them to life...and that they are tools of the force |
