So, I know there's a couple of writers out there in the woodwork. Any of you guys like to write? I'm just getting back into writing, as painstaking a process as it is. I've really struggled with having the motivation and focus to actually write anything that takes more than an evening, but fingers crossed I can get me some good habits and actually make something of this. Thought that people might like to discuss writing, what sort of things we like to write, hints, habits and so on. ![]() In the past I've mostly written science fiction and fantasy, although recent years have burned me out on traditional fantasy something chronic. I've recently been loving the urban fantasy schtick, though. It's sort of frustrating that most of what I've written over the last couple of years has been WoD stuff. 'cause while that's cool and all, its not really something I can represent as my own work. But anyway, I'll stop rambling now. |

Well, there's my blog but that more talks about my research and stuff. If you take a look at some of the writers' I follow, you'll find a few really good ones. The main piece of advice they'll hammer into your head is going to be: 'Write something each day. Even if only one sentence." |

I'm happy to writing babble with you. :-) Although my poor novel has been a bit neglected for the last few months. I definitely need to get back into writing a bit each day. *sigh* I remember once I used to write a few thousand words a day. What went wrong? Well, apart from going back to STing. That's never a sensible move when it comes to dividing creative energies. |

I find STing is my best bet for getting creative energies going, because it's got hard and fast deadlines and you can't really procrastinate when you're running a game. But that's just me and my flightiness! |

Heh, true that. I suppose my main problem is rather that it diverts attention away from my other projects because the game eats my brainspace. |

the thing i love about a great story is unpredictability...... but not crazyness... just realistic -ness.... that is what first brought me to RPing...other ppl tend to make it less predictable than a movie....you know ...opening scene...all the heroes die....boom! party wipe... ![]() but then everyone rerolls..and wait no this movie was actually about these guys ...not the guys you saw in the opening scene that was just to set the scene.. man i would love to make a movie.. we should select a awesome troupire scene and turn it in to a movie clip.... just for fun...after all we already have our costumes and cast.....i have a digital cam.... what could be easier.... |

Hey, if anyone wants to get together to do that, I would dish out XP for the participants. At the very least, Josh should take piccies next game and maybe record a clip or two. |

Gooood question. Cam Mage is on the 21st, so the 14th or the 28th would be good. I'm thinking the 14th is when we're due to have one, though. Same deal. We'll see if it keeps working out. My place. 6:30PM start though I'll be home at around 5:00PM if anyone wants to talk game stuff. Folk can crash over. Just give me a heads up first. |

Actually, I was thinking of doing something similar. I was thinking a bit cheaper, $2 or a donated food / drink item, depending on whether you could be assed fetching it yourself (those who purchase could also just buy a $1 bottle of soda anyway). Of course, that wouldn't add up to very many pizzas at all ... more a bunch of sweets and picnic foods. I'm cruisy whichever way you want to go with it. Hmm, to the polls! |

I think that something which might work better than filming a pre-scripted scene could be a candid camera sort of thing. You could always have J.J. or someone else technically-minded walking around sticking a camera in peoples faces and interviewing them, big brother photo-journal style. ![]() I;m always happy to take some snaps, by the way.

I'm terrible at sitting down in front of a computer and just writing. that's why these responses are so sporadic. I guess getting in to character helps me to write. I like the write something every day advise. I can see were that might become very inspiring. |
