Jade knocked on the door of the shop and waited. She hated being back here. It just was too great a reminder. |

Tristan was just doing busy work, trying to do anything to keep his mind off Jade. He turned his head after hearing the knock, seeing Jade at the door. He moved over, unlocking the door and opened it for her. "Come on in," he stepped to side. |

Jade sighed heavily and tried to ignore the tears that began to form at the sight of him. She nodded and walked in. "Has it been busy for a Christmas Eve?" she didn't know how to launch into this, so she tried small talk. |

"Just a few last minute shoppers," he shut the door, locking it again. He turned around to face her, but didn't look her in the eye. |

Jade saw he wouldn't meet her eyes. She wouldn't make him. "So...what do you want to know?" she jammed her hands in her jean pockets. |

Tristan moved towards the counter. He leaned back on it, crossing his arms. "What do I want to know?" he laughed a little. The question just seemed so simple. "Uh, I don't know Jade, you were the one who wanted to talk to me," he finally looked up at her. |

Jade faltered when he looked up at her. "I know. I just..." she looked down. "I've never done a serious girlfriend thing before. I figured it was easier if I just kept it casual. I didn't care if the guy had a girlfriend, just as long as I wasn't his girlfriend." She kept looking down. "My dad left my mom for someone else and it crushed her and I never wanted to be her. I'm not saying that for pity, I know that sounds pathetic, but that's how me and Jackie think." Her hair fell down in front of her face, so she tucked it behind her ear. "I met Ben the same way I met all those other boys, but he stopped me. I thought that was weird. He didn't call me until his girlfriend was out of the picture. He went through some shit and he made me wanna be an one guy kind of girl, but then he was distant and I met you. You were so gorgeous and sweet. I thought about you for days. I know being angry and upset is not an excuse for what I did to you, but I did like you for you. It wasn't to boost my self-esteem. I just saw the way you looked at me and I wanted to believe I was that girl. I'm not." She finally looked up. "I'm a slut. I know that. And I'm always gonna be a slut. I shouldn't have lured you in like I did all those other guys because you're one of the good ones. That's what I wanted to tell you." She stepped back and went for the door, but it was locked. |

Tristan stood there quietly, waiting. His body language began to soften, as he heard what she had to say. He realized standing before him was a broken girl. She wasn't a heart breaker. She wasn't just playing games. She was just someone who never learned what love was supposed to be. He found himself taking in the sight of her. She looked so small, unlike the girl he met originally. That girl was one that had the spark of life in her eyes, and was fun and carefree. This was not the same girl, but he realized that for the first time he was really meeting Jade, and to him she was even more beautiful. When he heard what she thought of herself, it broke him. She believed every word she said to him, and he couldn't imagine carrying that feeling around. Even with the things that happened he never saw her that way. As she began to leave, he stepped forward quickly, but stopped himself just short of her. "Jade wait," he knew he couldn't let her leave. Not like this. He would never forgive himself if he let her go after hearing what he did. |

"Please," Jade felt the tears burning in her eyes," just unlock the door." |

"I will," Tristan spoke to her softly. "I just need to know one thing." |

The tears fell down her cheeks. She couldn't cry in front of him again. She couldn't let him see. "What?" |

Tristan stretched his arm out, and ever so gently took a hold of her hand. "Can I kiss you?" A small smile traced the outline of his lips. |

Tristan took a step forward, cupping her face in his hands. He wiped her tears away with his thumbs, as he looked into her big, brown eyes. "You made some mistakes, but you are not those mistakes," he searched her eyes, begging her to believe him. "Jade, you are beautiful and kind and smart. You have are a good person, with a beautiful heart. When I look at you, that is the girl I see, because that is the girl you are." He gave her a warm smile. "And I would really like to kiss that girl." He leaned his head down, his lips meeting hers. |

Jade stared up at him, unable to speak. She wanted to believe him, so badly, but she couldn't. Before she could argue, he was kissing her. She couldn't help herself and leaned into the kiss. |
