It was her second day in the city. Billy and her had just moved into their apartment. It was small. Really small, but with the little money the two of them had it worked. Well, it had to work. June had called Luke's mom and asked where he worked. She wanted to surprise him, and had asked Mrs. Jordan weeks before to keep it a secret that her and Billy were moving up to Chicago.

She walked into the shop, stopping in the front of the garage trying to find Luke. She spotted him looking over a car and smiled as she saw him. June let out a loud whistle, grabbing his attention.

Luke heard the whistle, turning his head quickly.

"June?" He asked surprised. He couldn't believe his eyes it was her. A huge smile took place, as he set down what he was holding and hurried over to her.

"Luke," June's smile widened as he recognized her. She met him half way, jumping into his arms, and giving him a tight hug. God it felt good to see him. She couldn't help but take in his sent. He still smelled like a mixture of oil and Old Spice.

Luke caught June, wrapping his arms around her. He held her in his arms for a little before putting her down. He stepped back looking her over.

“What are you doing here?” He asked, excitement in his voice.

“Me and Billy decided to give the big city a shot,” June smiled, glad to see how good he looked.

“We just moved up here yesterday.”

“Billy’s here too?” Luke raised his brow, his eyes smiling as he heard the news. The truth was since his break up with Camille, Luke had been feeling lonely and a little homesick. Knowing that June and Billy were going to be here already made him feel better. They were his two best friends.

When Luke was fourteen, his father, who was in the military, moved the family to a base in Georgia. It was his first day as a freshman in a new town where everyone knew everyone, well except for him. June was a scrawny, talkative girl who sat next to him in English class. While at first he found her to be a bit much, after that first week of school the two of them were inseparable. Looking at June now, brought Luke back. She had been his first everything; First kiss, first girlfriend, and first person he made love to. She was also his first heartbreak. They dated all through high school and it was a happy four years, but then the summer after graduation came. Luke wanted to get out of Georgia, he was ready for something new. June wanted to stay near by her family and just like that they knew that their time together was over. It was a mutual break up, and they left each other on good terms, but that didn’t stop it from hurting. His first week in the city Luke had never felt more miserable. He thought he made a mistake by coming to Chicago. He was alone and missed June. He had decided to call her that weekend, and while he wasn’t sure it was a good idea, by the time he hung up with her he knew that he had made the right choice. He was thankful for the time they had together as a couple, and June had taught him a lot, but looking back at it all he knew they were never meant to be forever.

He didn't feel that way about Camille though. He really thought that she was the one for him, but maybe overtime, he thought, he would see that he was wrong. It sure didn't feel like that now though.
