"Okay, you need to stop kicking my ass in darts," Jack said, looking at the board. He took the chalk and tallied another win for Ava.

"You just need to get better," Ava shrugged. She hadn't expected a fancy dinner with Jack. Pizza, beer and darts were perfectly fine with her.

"I'll probably beat your ass at pool, too."

Jack took a swig of his beer. "No, thanks. I've had my ego bruised enough for one night."

"I'll be right back. Don't punch anyone while I'm gone," he winked.

"And he bows out like a gentleman," Ava teased, before biting into her pizza. She swallowed and shook her head.

"I'll try my best."

Jack walked back over to her, trying to hide his smile.

"You wanna sit at a booth or do you like eating standing up?"

Ava eyed him cautiously.

"I don't wanna ask."

She put her hands up, "I'll eat anywhere but that booth looks good."

As they sat down, people started going up for karaoke.

"Oh awesome. We get to hear the tone deaf act like rock stars.."

"Hey, be nice," Ava swatted him in the chest.

As the girl started singing though, she regretted it.

"Not her best, I'm sure."

"Uh huh, sure."

A few more people went up and the crowd wasn't very impressed.

"Not really rock stars, eh?"

"You're a mean person, Jackson."

She didn't think they were that bad. The bartender walked up to the mic

"Okay, up next is Ava Grace with 'Somebody to Love' by Queen," he didn't look very happy about it since that song was all over the place vocally.

Ava froze.

"I what?" she glared at Jack.

"That's for being a show off," Jack grinned.

"You bastard," she got up, "I just had all that cheese and I'm gonna suck."

It didn't seem like this crowd paid attention to politics so she felt a little better. There was some scattered claps, the crowd probably anticipating another let down with a good song.

"This goes out to a very special man, who forced me to come up here," she coughed, "Jack, you're a dick."

The audience laughed. She cleared her throat and pulled on her leather jacket.

"Can anybody find me somebody to love?" she was so happy she was a soprano right now. The audience seemed mildy pleased someone was on key.

She tossed her long brown hair over her shoulder.

"Each morning I get up I die a little. Can barely stand on my feet. Take a look in the mirror and cry. Lord what you're doing to me. I have spent all my years in believing you. But I just can't get no relief, Lord!"

"Somebody, somebody! Can anybody find me somebody to love?"

She began walking around the stage and the audience started to clap and she smiled.

"At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own -I get down on my knees," she kneeled on the stage," And I start to pray. Till the tears run down from my eyes."

She tilted her head back, "Lord - somebody - somebody! Can anybody find me - somebody to love?"

Someone whistled as she got up back on her feet and gripped the microphone stand. She flipped her hair at the guitar solo and got some cheers.

"Got no feel, I got no rhythm. I just keep losing my beat. I'm ok, I'm alright. Ain't gonna face no defeat. I just gotta get out of this prison cell. Someday I'm gonna be free, Lord!"

The crowd was chanting with the lyrics on the screen as she walked through the crowd. She wiggled her way into Jack's lap and smiled,

"Somebody to love?"

The bartender walked over to her and took the microphone, but she didn't even notice.

Jack laughed at her excuse, "Get up there."

He shook his head when she called him a dick and gave her a thumbs up.

He knew she was in a show, but that meant nothing to him. He didn't know Les Miserables. His eyebrows went up when she hit the really high notes in the beginning. He didn't expect that. He smiled when she tossed her hair, she was getting into it. She sounded really good. As she walked around, he was the first to start clapping with the song and was glad when others joined in.

He got up and whistled when she got on the ground, she was awesome! He sat down and shook his head at her hair flip, she would. He took another swig of his beer as she came over to him. He smiled wide, looking into her dark brown eyes.

"You're quite the rock star," he said, tucking her hair behind her ear.

"I always rise to the challenge," Ava grinned.

She leaned in to kiss him when something caught her attention on stage.

"Are you seeing this?"

Lucy had literally dragged Eli up on the stage with her. She picked a Talking Heads song since it was fun to dance to.

"Watch out! You might get what your after. Cool babies. Strange but not a stranger. I'm an ordinary guy. Burning down the house," she looked over as Eli only joined her for the chorus.
