I saw that in half life 2 someone made a raptor model and it was beautiful, it gave me an idea that reminded me that there are models to insert in there maybe even add normal maps, but just need the animations, you know for the scripting. The game has a good level editor, making terrain is totally easy (even lets you blend textures really convenient) and there are like over 50 kinds of skyboxes ( dawn, night and day.) Its just that Carnivores games are just too buggy, even without tweaking them. Maybe its an opportunity for people to add their new models in, also in the maps you can add various tree models that dont turn into sprites :) . Half life maps and ambient fogs (at long distances) make large amps look very realistic. Anyone think its a good idea (for those owning half life 2 or episodes?) Anybody know how to get the animations (im not good at making animations but i learn fast.

I've Played Half Life 2, and the Source Engine (as it's Officially Called) Would be one of the best candidates for a new Carnivores Games (Behind CryENGINE 2 and Dunia Engine). It's Nice that you Brought this Up :)

Cazrnivores uses a custom render and so normal maps, etc would require a large reworking of the engine. Basically, all of it :)

Also, I would go with CryEngine 3 if I was going to use a 3rd-party engine.

well... for those who have any half life games, I may start a mod project for carnivores models in the Source Engine, it may never come out because im still trying to understand the sdk stuff. My main goal is to learn how to convert the .car files to .smd or .qc model files or just use the .obj form of dino-models and create animations from scratch to make a good dino. Im exited to see the physics and ragdolls for just-killed dinos (a charging tyrannosaur :P .) using the shader system and materials will be a plus (light reflecting wetness in a tyrannosaur's mouth) I will also put in the original carnivores sounds to give the feeling that a player is still playing carnivores. I know this should be posted on a half life 2 forum but it has content from carnivores, so its okay.... Im not going to make a logo and brand it as mine because I dont really care, so... I am just going to edit the weapon attributes, models, skins, and make maps and if coders want to take advantage of it, the can sure go ahead, I'd love to see them make it better, I suck at scripting and coding stuff but I specailize in skins, mabe not spelling  but the models I have, have the same # of vertices as the original model so it should be low poly count some examples are:
