is it worth it, or am I going to run into inevitable bugs when I import the obj. version of the .car into those modeling programs, Im just moving vertices around. I just want it in game, are the .car files just static meshes that are controlled by bones? Will .obj convert back to .car, well... I was editing a little of Doom 3's MD5 static meshes in Gmax and there are also MD5 animations are the .car files a combination of both animations and its mesh? Does it require the source code to manipulate it. If someone can tell me it would help me not persistently spend hours trying to figure it out..

thanx... does anyone know how to create maps/ have experience in Doom3

Yes, .car files contain both the mesh and its animations (and sounds and some other info), hence working on an editor isn't a simple task... it should be simpler to just convert meshes and animations done in other programs into a .car fle, than importing the mesh and animations from a .car file for editing elsewhere.

Rexhunter99 is working on a mesh editor that edits directly to .car. Unfortunately its isn't quite...... ready for the public yet. If it were, I'd be one of the first few people to have one since I'm a CCE Beta tester.

Im not a modelling wiz( if not Im pretty terrible :( ), but I edited a doom 3 .md5 mesh and exported it back into doom 3 using gmax, what I did was edited vertex positions then with the plugins(scripts of .mzp and stuff) and ran a Max ScriptListener and it gave me vertice weights an stuff copied it to a blank wordpad and saved it over the mesh. could the .cto file be related in the same way, it has verticiesh stuff and weights... could it be saved in the .car file like an md5mesh. Has anyone ever even changed a model successfully in any of the carnivores series?
