I've gotten sick of the lack of Venus in the 30/40k background so I've taken it upon myself to do something about it. (and more to the point satisfy my personal biases) Here's some background I've knocked up for Venus based on canon from the 30k universe. Data slates recovered in the deep tech vaults of Terra's Hive Karelia prior to its demolition following the bombing by Pro-Panpacifists by academic Kasper Ansbach Hawser contained information of great value to humanity and perhaps greater still the tech adepts of Mars whom crave knowledge above all things. When Ansbach's discoveries were made the Mechanicus acted with great speed, political tact and ultimately force to acquire this precious Dark Age knowledge. Of the contents of this data much will never be known, but of what we can be certain regards the dark twin of Holy Terra, the cursed world of Venus. Early in mankind's first ascent to the stars the Sol System was colonised in its entirety, arcane technologies allowing humans to survive on even the most inhospitable worlds. The interior planets became thriving worlds before The Long Night descended up the galaxy. During the Great Crusade, the planet was dominated by War Witches who fielded armies of Litho-Gholem. The early Iron Warriors Space Marine Legion led the conquest of Venus during the Mehr Yasht campaign. The bitter fighting laid waste to the ancient Venusian cities and their great atmospheric cleansers that allowed the inhabitants to survive. When the traitor Horus turned on the Emperor Venus was disregarded; its populace slain, their cities in ruins and the floating atmospheric hive scrubbers long since crashed into the surface. Without these facilities the volcanism on the surface of the planet rapidly undid the millennia of work of man, returning Venus into a baked and suffocated world. But the memory of Mars is long... In the latter years of the 41st Millennium the search for Dark Age secrets by forces of the Mechanicus has stretched far and wide, from ancient tomb worlds to distant stars at the limits of the Astronomicon's light. The lost world of Venus did not escape these machinations upcoming adepts eager to please the Omnissiah by recovering the technology in the wreckage of the atmospheric hive scrubbers. Let me know what you think, I tried to stay as reasonable as possible and explain why there is so little information out there about the subject. It does focus a lot on my current Mechanicus project but that is for the obvious reason that it is what drove me to do something in the first place. Dave Edited by lavadude360, 20 Jun 2015, 02:47 PM.
